    Fun fact there was no 400 years of silence. The Macabees revolted against the occupiers of Greece. It is all recorded in books called 1st and 2nd Macabees

    • @duaneking273
      @duaneking273 Місяць тому +2

      Yes they are great books and very necessary for history. The only reason it’s 400 years of “silence”as they say because there weren’t prophets disciplining Judah and its governing body Kings, priests, false prophets etc because there wasn’t going to be any major national disciplines that hadn’t already been spoken of in Ezekiel, Daniel, Haggai, and Zechariah. Maccabees can help people understand Daniel 8 and 11, and def shows God moving and speaking to the people. I am not Catholic, and it’s a tragedy Maccabees is excluded from the Protestant Bible.

    • @mr.roboto209
      @mr.roboto209 Місяць тому

      @duaneking273 It's honestly a bit disrespectful to suggest 400 years of silence is even possible. That would encompass the entirety of the United State's history

      @davidg4789 well in the terms of manuscripts evidence they can be found in the septuagint which Josephus says Is scripture, we also found some portion in the dead sea scrolls, they are quoted by the early Christians at the time, they have been apart of the canon all the way to 1880s. For protestant canon they have been removed but for catholic, orthodox, and the other apostolic Christians still have them. While for archeology there is inscriptions in the second temple that has the story from them.

    I always wonder if there is politics between the Apostles in the early Church. Much of what is written in the New Testament came from Paul or one of his assistants writing for him. What happened to the writings of other Apostles? Gone to history I suppose?

    • @BelieversvoiceMinistries
      @BelieversvoiceMinistries  Місяць тому +3

      Great question! While Paul’s writings dominate the New Testament, other Apostles contributed too, like Peter, John, and James. Many early Christian writings didn't make it into the New Testament canon because they either didn't align with the teachings of Jesus or were considered less authoritative. Some writings, like the Gospel of Thomas or other early texts, provide insight into history but aren’t regarded as Scripture.

      I am guessing you come from a Catholic tradition. The word used in Greek is Adelphia, which can be translated as either brother, or male member of your extended family, like cousin or something. James is named as Adelphia to Jesus, but according to Catholic tradition, the virgin Mary was not only a virgin at the time of Jesus's birth, but throughout the rest of her life (kinda sad for Joseph) so James is considered to be a cousin of Jesus's similar to John the Baptist. Most Protestant traditions are perfectly fine with Jesus having had HALF brothers, and sisters. If you're a Kevin Smith fan, you may recall this being an essential plot point of Dogma.
