Alex Bent (drummer) was THE BEST thing to happen to Trivium.
Agreed. He completely rejuvenated the entire band. He brings everything they need and way more.
Big facts. Travis and the boys are the classic line up, but Alex and the boys are the definitive line up.
I met these guys like 20 years ago when they played a benefit concert for a friend of mine who was sick. Nicest guys you could hope to meet, especially Matt Heafy (singer/guitarist). I told him what a great show it was and he thanked me profusely and proceeded to nearly break my spine with a bear hug. They genuinely keep getting better over time (minus a song here or there, like most bands). I'll let someone who knows more about them recommend another song, but definitely check out more. Peace!
Their entire latest album (In the Court of the Dragon) is absolute gold, would 100000% recommend a listen!
Matt Heafy is the main vocalist, and also guitarist. Yes, he is very active on Twitch and in the gaming community in general. He has composed and performed all sorts of songs for various games. The song, “The Phalanx” is for the new Elder Scrolls game and they incorporate parts of the game video into the video for “The Phalanx”. Trivium is perhaps the preeminent metalcore band in the world right now after drummer Alex Bent joined up with them a few years ago. Other songs you may enjoy are, “The Shadow of the Abattoir”, awesome video for that one. “The Catastrophist”, again with an incredible video. “Feast of Fire”, “The Revanchist”. There are some great drum playthroughs featuring Alex Bent for several of the Trivum songs, which makes you appreciate him more.
You would love Like Callisto to a Star in Heaven. Epic tune.
I'd recommend Strife, Silence in the Snow, The Rising, or Villiany Thrives.
I'd say Villiany Thrives is the best of those 4.
Trivium were my suprise revelation that I didn't know I needed. I am not quite sure how I found them, I think it was just a stumble on UA-cam, but I listened to them for like a week straight after I firrst heard them,.

I’ve only seen a handful of your reactions so far but the ones I’ve seen, you always love the bass. If you haven’t checked out Primus yet, you should. The singer, Les Claypool, plays “lead” bass and may be the best bassist to ever pluck a string.
