I don’t get how they don’t get it. When the ball is played, attacking player must be level or behind last man (AKA the furthest back defender). You can run behind the defence as long as you was level with the last man as the ball was played. It’s such a simple concept that the Americans just can’t seem to grasp.

Cant blame JJ for that second goal, he was going the right way for the shot, the deflection threw the ball away from him, none of the goals he conceded (except for the role over the line goal) was his fault. nothing he could do about the second goal. You dont know football if you think JJ was at fault for that second goal.

offside rule: if the person receiving a pass is ahead of the ball and in the oppositions half, they must be behind at least 2 opposition players (almost always including the goalkeeper) when their teammate kicks it. the rule is becomes moot when an opposition player intentionally kicks it. prevents people from chilling by the goal the entire game and actually brings an element of difficulty in breaking down a defence.
to be onside when your teammate passes it you must be EITHER:
- behind the ball
- in your own half
- behind 2 opposition players (inc. the goalkeeper)

Simple way to explain offside : stand behind the last defender before the ball is passed to you , once it’s kicked while it’s in the air you can run and pass the defender.

Manny made 3 but one was given by Simon and Simon also passed the ball to Josh while right in front of the pin to help Josh try to make his first goal in the series of games. Josh is the only Sidemen to not make a goal in a charity match now.

Only about 50 min in so I don't know if it gets clearly answered later, but a player is offside if they are behind the last defender AT THE EXACT MOMENT IN WHICH the ball leaves the passer's foot. So like, you can stand in line with the defender and start running in behind them and towards the goal as soon as the ball is passed. The rule is meant to discourage cherry-picking basically. (Sorry for all the football fans not understanding that not everyone knows the rules, it's like they dont even wanna see more people enjoy the sport 😓)

1: Speed and Scoring a Goal
If you don’t understand. Offside is a rule to prevent cherry picking. If you are on their half of the field you have to be behind their last defender. Unless you have the ball and are passed all their defenders then you can pass backwards even if the guy you are passing to is ahead of their last defender. The rule basically turns into backward laterals like in American football if you are passed. These rule are so someone just can’t sit at the end of the field and call for a pass. But the offside rule only applies to when the ball is kicked and not when it is received. So you can kick the ball to a teammate behind the last defender but he can receive the ball in an offside position.
