I love the 63 engine HOWEVER for an everday car they are an absolute waste of time ... look at how many are forsale the websites are full of them IMHO I believe after owning 14 mercs the best is the 500 or 550 V8 ... what is ur experience ... AND merc please install handles to get in and out of these cars
Luckily, the extensive MB model range allows enough choice to suit everyone! The 500 and 550 engines are top tier, as well as the 63. However, we also don't understand why there aren't any grab handles above the door 🤔 at least the G-Wagon has the central grab handles for entry and off-roading!
The Benz is not a thoroughbred off-road vehicle, even its forefather, the G model, was not one. The Austrian Prinzgauer is a real off-road vehicle or the UAZ 469 or the GAZ 69 or the Lada Niva. Who goes off-road in an Armani suit, nobody! If you only compare the approach angles at the front and rear of the Lada Niva and the Benz, you can immediately see the difference and who was really built for off-road use. Even with a Suzuki Jimny you can outperform the Benz off-road. The electronics of the Benz are completely overwhelmed in difficult terrain. The Benz, for example, has no real off-road reduction and the front and rear axles cannot be 100% locked. With the Benz you have to set the automatic transmission to manual and then use the shift paddles on the steering wheel to select the lower gears. Anyone who drives a Benz like this never goes off-road, partly because the owner is often inexperienced or has absolutely no idea, and partly because something breaks, repairing it becomes really expensive. For four and a half years I drove through the countryside with 6x6 and 4x4 from 1.5 tons to 15 tons.
We were very lucky to witness the G-Wagons off-road capabilities during the Mercedes-Benz Global Training in Mallorca this year. Our very experienced Mercedes-Benz AG drivers took us out and showed us the G-Class from various angles in various conditions. We are very confident that it is a suitable off-road vehicle, but appreciate that few people may use it for this. However, it's good to have the choice.

Good ground clearance and large departure angles at the rear and front. Axles that are 100% lockable and have terrain reduction or terrain reduction. A mechanical transmission is also important. It is then still important that the axes can be correctly interlaced. That would depend on what you are comparing it to in regards to speed... We raced the G63 against the SL63 and the EQS53 and it was naturally last every time, because it's so big and heavy! Doesn't mean it's not iconic though 🙂 I'm sure the EQ update will provide more performance!
