Glad you did this because nobody has shown how to configure it in mame. Which is where you will really see the full potential. Most have only shown it playing the snk collection on steam.
That’s why I did it. Let’s me honest Bo, those “other users” plugged it in , booted up SNk collection and played. None spent the time to fully utilize this thing. And now the thing is sitting in a corner never to be touched again. I’ve been using mine regularly and I wanted to show the free spinner functionality with arkanoid , as well as how the free spinner needs to be used with forgotten Worlds, but that was starting to get too long of a video.
Yes. But you have to go to the PC settings app and change the function to “free spinner” mode before doing it. If you’re already on a pc, it’s simple, but I didn’t cover it because using a pi , then going to plug into a pc to change mode , then going back to change modes isn’t ideal.
@@therexershow good stuff. This thing at that price point is a no brainer. This one actually resembles the original LS-30 Seimitsu joystick. Finding one in working order is triple the cost of this product and im not familiar with other options.
I have the overlay for this stick that I won on pdubs, I gotta get the stick its crazy cool for so many games. I def need a Batocera build to go with stick as my Pi's are all in a landfill after failing me! Thanks for the tutorials, much appreciated!
Oh man, sucks your pis failed you. There are many other cheap SBC just like pi that may suit you better. Either way, batocera is exactly like Retropie, so the tutorial will be very similar.
NOTE: The GRS stick can function properly with mame using the RED/MOUSE mode. I wanted to align this video with the manual so showed it using the modes that the instruction manual showed.
@@andrewacosta7901 YES, I had to talk to Glen to fix it and it's an easy fix. I need to make a video on it, but what you need to do is use the TS Configuation software, set each joystick as separate, 1 and 2, AND you HAVE TO reassign the buttons for the 2nd joystick. I do a video in the next coiuple days if you can wait.
Yes it should. Between this video and the instruction manual, you should be fine. Ask questions here and I will answer. I know the manual pretty well by now.
You reminded me of the cartoon Superfriends …instead of Hall of Justice , it would go like this….”Meanwhile, at the Hall of Shills, a meeting was held to go over the Shilling strategy for $100 off deluxe 1ups”.
This was extremely helpful to get me started but did not address 2-player issues in MAME. When I play a MAME game with the GRS, Player 1 and Player 2 both have the same input for rotation no matter how I change the Player 1 and Player 2 Settings in MAME. I have two GRS joysticks, both USB input. When Player 1 turns, Player 2 turns the same way and vice versa. They work separately when running other software but not the most recent MAME version. Any ideas on my problem? Thanks!
It depends on what mode you’re in. I try to show how you can quick change to hat mode by pressing the mode button quickly in “Green mode” . Depending on mode will change the way mame reads it.
Hi, I’m trying to follow this tutorial on a Raspberry Pi. No matter what I do in retroarch config the analog bindings will not work. Everything else in the tutorial works for me until 3:06. 😢
When you try to make the changes to the fields, what happens. Nothing changes? or is the problem it won't save? I need some info to understand what exactly is happening. Also, do you know how to edit the file manually? I show how to access the retroarch.cfg file at the end of the video. Lastly, if you only do the MAME settings , the joystick will still work, spin, and shoot and move. The only issue is that you won't be able to separate the spin and the move left and right. Which will give you that little side step problem. It's not to noticeable for most people, but I wanted mine perfect, so i made sure to to it right.

Have you had any issues with in two player mode the rotary joystick s move player one only, player two is rotating player one.

For the exact joystick that I just ordered.

Yes. I believe Glen has a video specifically showing it on his channel. “glens retro show” on UA-cam.

Hello again. When I tap the mode button once and attempt to remap the directions nothing happens. At 8:01 in the video.

Thanks. I just got my order so I’m guessing people may need to start referencing it.
