Thanks a lot man. I feel the guitar in the beginning is a bit too loud but I’ll work on the mix again if it gets a proper release. This band was awesome. They just broke up this year but I have a bunch of stuff I recorded from them. There’s a couple other tracks of theirs on my channel. The guitarist and bassist started a new band and I actually just recorded them last week on a 4-track. It’s a bit heavier and more jazzy than their old band

@@Govier Cool, would like to hear their new bands stuff too! This track from their previous group has an interesting blend of styles. Are the drums live, as they almost have a bit of a jazzy Hip hop vibe.

@@wehappyfewmusic Yes all of the instrumentation is live. Actually all recorded, live at the same time except for the vocals and claps, which were added after the fact. The other tracks of their on my channel are all live. They were insistent that's how they wanted to do it, which made it harder on my 488 as I can only record 4 tracks at once. Drums had to be in mono and were summed through a 424 mkii as a preamp/mixer and sent to a dbx 166 for compression before hitting the tape. The drummer was always extremely in the pocket.

@@Govier Nice, you got a good drum sound then and tight playing. Have you ever used a Tascam 688 so you can track more parts simultaneously?

Thanks man. No I haven’t ever used one. If I did I would’ve had much more control when I recorded this band cause I could’ve had 3 tracks just for drums.
