I love how this adaption focuses on the horror atmosphere of Berserk. The Golden Age films had zero atmosphere and turned tense scenes like this into shallow action scenes.
I agree. Here, even Guts was horrified at what he was witnessing. Despite that, he charged when he saw his men hanging from the saber. Still, it played out as a cosmic horror, one that can not be beaten. Something as big as the total story. Not just some hacking and slashing. 'Karas' did that with this scene involving a demon locked in a large crowded room full of...food. The movie series was action, but that scene was NOT. It was pure horror. Absolutely magnificent. Kentaro Miura really made Nosferatu Zodd look like a very intimidating realistic demon/Apostle. The way he designed him is flawlessly amazing. RIP Kentaro Miura
The early part of the scene is so good. He's bigger than Guts, and they go back and forth. It seems Guts can win with a clever move and a little luck, but the odds are a little against him. Then he pulls out the win after some struggle. Only after that do we see that, no, this enemy is a hundred times more powerful. We know right then that if this was a tough fight before, it's now utterly impossible. Reattaching severed limbs only makes it more clear, Guts never stood a chance. The horror of this impossible enemy in an inescapable room is built up by the "narrow victory" Guts achieved earlier setting the bar.
Its not like zodd is unkillable tho. He does recieve some forms of permanent damage in his horns later in the series. Its also implied that he was beaten by the skull knight before sk saved guts and casca. And of course he became a servant of griffith almost instantly, despite the story also implying that femto isnt actually the strongest member of the hand, not even close. So this fight, while EXTREMELY hard, is actually not as imposible as it seems at this point in the series
@@ivangamarra8138 Sure, I just mean in this scene. This scene goes from a dark but still heroic battle, to gory horror. Because they set it up so well and then switched it. Imagine if you just saw this one clip and had no idea what Berserk is prior to this.
Este anime es como del 1995 (aprox), cómo es posible que con la tecnología de aquellos días, se vea mucho mejor que la adaptación de hace pocos años(CGI)? Incluso las peleas, se ven que son imágenes estáticas y con efectos que simulan el movimiento, pero prefiero eso que actual xd
Que buena música, sumada a esa estética oscura (literalmente, todos los tonos son opacos, carecen de luminosidad, en los 90 no existía esa estética moderna donde todo se plástico, con exceso de brillo), expresan demasiado y aun así se queda corto respecto al manga.

Las clásicas, Vagabond o Vindlan Saga son otras sagas que cuentan mensajes similares al de Berserk, también está Oyasumi PunPun si hablamos de temas serios y tal, pero no es de acción, es más terror psicólogico
Attack on Titan también es fantasía oscura muy violenta. La primera temporada tiene un argumento muy adolescente y sencillo (eso sí, con una grandiosa animación y banda sonora), pero la historia poco a poco evoluciona en algo grandioso y digno de ver. Además de que tiene plot twists muy impactantes. Aparte, también te puedes leer el manga de Berserk. Ya que este anime sólo cuenta una pequeña parte de sus historia, y se deja muchos detalles. Por ejemplo, después de ser violada por Griffith, Kasca sobrevive... Pero queda vegetal, y da luz a un horrible feto deforme/demonio (que era el hijo de Guts, pero quedó maldito por el semen de Griffith). El cual persigue a Guts cada noche como un fantasma mientras este viaja en busca de venganza.

Esto es bastante censurado a diferencia del manga, pues es mil veces más gráfico, Zodd literalmente despedazó a cada soldado que se encontró, y para rematar, él no usa pantalón, es parte de la censura usada
Y de aquí este anime cambio drásticamente, a mí me sorprendió mucho como en su trayecto bélico Guts y Griffith se encontraron con un ser demoníaco., y la advertencia que le dio Zod a Guts, fue como meter una gran intriga a la serie. Y luego Zod sale volando del castillo, la forma en la que todos ven como un demonio sale volando del castillo., le dieron un toque de suspenso al anime y misterio.
Zod wasnt even tryharding in his apostol form, he was enjoying a fight for the first time in 300yrs.... Guts the dude pahahhah, cannot wait for their final clash. And then Fucking Griffit.

Golden age is fantastic and had its moments. It's what got me into berserk. I'm one of the few who love the saga.
