What’s your clan name?
He deserves more subs tho.. I'm an aspiring Architect and I'm learning while watching this. 😍🥰
Agreed!
I would have never thought of doing something like this in my home. But after watching the first two videos it doesn't seem that hard... that is after I muster up the courage to rip out my bathroom floor to the floor joist, and start cutting plumbing lines... other then that no big deal!
So informative! I’m doing a wall mounted faucet for my powder room & UA-cam has failed with any good waterline replacement/extension videos. This one, perfection. I didn’t even know shark bite connections existed, but now it’s about to make this project a lot cheaper for me 👏🏻
I love how you explain details like codes, proper transition, proper placement, etc. This is the first video I have watched of yours but I have watched a ton of how-to videos on UA-cam and most people don't explain little details that we amateur do-it-yourselfers need to know. Great job please always explain the details like this. Thank you very much.
When I remodeled my sisters bathroom,it didn’t go anywhere as smooth as this. It was my first time though, huge learning experience 🤷🏻♂️ keep killing it man
Easy way to keep water from shooting out is to open the hose spigot out front. Also turn off valve at water heater if you have one.
@Mr. Build It: Something a drywall guy taught me a few years ago. Fold the drywall tape in half and tear the finished edges off in somewhat of an irregular scallop pattern down the length of the section. The fibrous edge not only bonds better with the mud, but also breaks up the straight line, allowing you to blend the mud in with the rest of the wall. If you've ever walked into new construction or a remodel and can tell exactly where the tape is... you don't want that.
This guy is a bad ass on renovation. 👍🏼👍🏼
You should change all the (grey) polybutylene pipes in your whole house, they tend to leak because there crimp fittings fail after time.If you dont change it right now it will be a problem in the near future, thats why i suggest that you change all water line to pex now ,so you don't have to worry about the polybutylene pipe leaking in the future and rotting your house
Thats true
Thanks for showing the plastic pieces that go with the stub-out. Of course I couldn't find them at HOME DEPOT.
Thanks for making this look possible for all of us new guys taking projects on that we agreed to do a year ago.
Man. The tips I've learned from here are lifesaving. I had no idea pvc had designated cement by color!
Oh my gawd how I’ve enjoyed this... rewatching over and over and learning so much
i think those grey water lines are Polybutylene, its hard to read but it looks like it says PB2110. if they are then they are prone to deterioration and leaks. There was a lawsuit about them.
It sure does look like it, definitely don’t want them in my home 😬
Oh lord.. I'm crying seeing this plumbing done.. But thank you this is why us plumbers have plenty of work
Lol your totally right man! I was cringing the whole time!
What did he do wrong?
Polybutylene
@@dreehc12 not just that, the black abs is a big no no to do renovations with. Pvc was already there mixing materials will ultimately result in failure a few years down the road, he shouldve gotten rid of as much poly as possible.
and never put shark bites in walls...
Alex, you encourage my husband and I to diy projects for our home. We love how your projects turn out very professional looking. Please keep up the hard work.
Really enjoyed your video. There was no part boring, you keep it entertaining
Many don’t know the joy of these tasks despite being tedious and consuming. Keep it up 👍🏽
You're doing a great job! And, may I say . . . Mama and baby are so lucky to have you in their lives!
I use dish soap instead of water when mixing the mud. using dish soap gives it a super smooth peanut butter consistency. super easy to spread and manipulate. I don't like using water because you do get that ketchup consistency and I hate it . keep up the good work, looking forward to see the bathroom finished.
Man, I've loved watching your videos! Fun and educational. I'd add here that for beginning drywallers, fiberglass tape is the way to go. Took me two garages for my paper tape to stop bubbling (and one of those walls I had to do half of it twice...), so I switched to fiberglass and its so much better. Also, if you are doing more than a single bathroom wall, the slightly larger compressor and the texture gun are SO worth it. Better results than a can, a lot faster, and upgrading from that pancake compressor everyone starts with is a marked improvement for all one's pneumatic tools. (Same goes for buying a paint sprayer...)
Keep up the great videos please!
Oh man....how I love PEX.
That trick with the drywall screws holding up your sheet of drywall, smart idea 👍 those big sheets can be heavy!
Be careful with and keep an eye on those Poly to Pex connections. Polybutylene is the absolute WORST.
You do an excellent job at filming and making the projects look appealing to viewers. I do Reno work daily as a career carpenter.
I’ve been subbed for a while, keep up the good work.
Ps. With the crimp tool crimp at least 3 spots on the ring. It will guarantee no leak.
I'm glad you changed that pressure pvc 90 on the waste arm. nice job
I love it. Keep inspiring ambitious homeowners to do their own work. Provides me two things: a wicked good laugh and job security
Tip I got from a pro: if you’re running wire through a hard to reach space, pick up some fiberglass rod and zip tie the wiring to the end of the rod. The rod can flex enough to get around whatever it needs to and it’s stiff enough that you can actually maneuver it through all those tough spaces while it supports the wire!
As an electrician I could only help but laugh WITH you as painful memories of old working romex and MC in walls resurfaced themselves. Also you can not hide splices in walls without access because of NEC code violations. Love the videos 🥇
You had me at Best Bucking Dad Ever! Love your inspiring videos.
Outstanding video series! Really appreciate your reasoning and explanation of your process! Better video every time!!
The music in this episode is LIT 🔥
Anyone else thinks he should play more than once a week?! I’ve been eagerly awaiting his next video!!
Hi Alex, love ur energy and the amount of work you put into these videos!
I noticed on another video you mentioned you had no previous Construction experience or any kind of experience in these trades which really surprised me how fast you pick up on things. I was really curious, what did you do for a living before the youtube channel? Like what kinda jobs did you have coming out of high school? Any college?
Anyways, keep up that energy, idk if you edit your own videos but they're great overall 👍
He says he was a respiratory therapist in one of his vids up until recently.
Not bad for not being a plumber. Some tips tho if you ever read this. The vent from the toilet if it’s a 3” drain line can be 8’ away. The abs pvc glue is banned in a lot of states because it doesn’t work well. The waterlines always go above the drain. Other than that your work looked nice !
one thing I learned... always check for leaks before putting the drywall back up🤣 had that problem once
So true!
That 90° ell for the lavatory was a pressure fitting, not a sanitary one.
I came to the comments just to see who caught that! Should used a long sweep elbow 😬 it’s ok, I’m sure it’ll still drain. He’ll just have trouble snaking it in the future if it gets clogged.
l7o6s5c4 me too.
sweet code violation too
Yep, I was just going to comment about that, Can't use a vent 90 for the drain! Probably works fine though.
You deserve more subs and more views. The production on these videos are really super high on top of the fact youre the one doing all the work too!
Great work. I want to make my half bathroom into a full bathroom im just a bit afraid when it comes to installing pipes for drainage
Seems like I've been waiting forever to see this next part. Part 1 was awesome. Great job lately on your videos, you're killing it.
Should have replaced that exhaust fan while you were at it. They’re fairly cheap (compared to everything being replaced) and just about any fan you get is going to be better and quieter than the jet engine sounding ones most builders seem to install.
Easily the best home improvement channel to watch. It’s not boring and easy to learn from the videos
Edit: what watch is that?
Would you not use moisture plasterboard in a bathroom
Nice work. Does this stuff have to permitted? Be cool to hear about that.
We are about to start a bathroom remodel. I’m so excited to see what/how you do everything. Courage and sweat!!
Hope you enjoy it!
Solid, thanks brother !
Do you need a permit to change/reposition the plumbing ?
Hey my man, love your videos! When ever decide to do a wall mounted toilet that would be awesome.
Spilling pvc cement is just part of the job... literally happens all the time to me
Abs glue
Yeah he does deserve more subs he should get at least 500K if not 1 million for the cool remodeling and construction he does
were the plumbing connections under the floor tested for leaks before re securing the osb?
I can tell you put a lot of work into your videos! Love them
Bing fan of your channel. Love the enthusiasm. You need to post part 3 ASAP :)
Great job brother, keep it up. Cheers.
How long did this bathroom take you? Trying to gauge a timeline. Thanks!
Love the videos! Just a tip though, next time you’re looking for plumbing fittings, make sure you’re in the DWV section and not the pressure section. That 1.5” street 90 you used for the lab drain was for pressure pipe. Thank me later😉
Sincerely,
Your Neighborhood Plumber
ia that really the only thing you’ve noticed? this guys a havk
bada bing bada boom...that should be on your shirt for your merchant.. awesome ..
Really appreciate it’s a good work done
I might have missed it, but how did you connect the pex to the copper pipes? Did you solder a sharkbite connector?
Do you have a video on using the electrical push clip connectors
Just curious but why not go white PVC all the way from the main drain to the toilet instead of using the black ABS from the main drain to the toilet?
A for video editing and C- for the actual finishing work. Doing well for himself.
Great Video, I need to learn how to mix Mud like that 👍 I don't always get the super smooth consistency
Your baby girl is precious!!!
Underrated drywall tip.
It sure is!
toilet supply lines are typ on the other side of the bowl, also you should run a hot, for a future bidet seat
You are only allowed to do one ABS-PVC transition in the whole house. Why mix materials? Also, the closet flange is supposed to be mounted on top of the finished floor.
In the UK we pay good money for people to remove textures from walls and ceilings lool
i SECOND THIS
Same here. IDK what he was thinking lol.
I see the tool list but can you supply a materials list as well?
Pro tip- when you are wrapping the tape around the fittings for the sink., flip the tape the other way. So as it is coming off the roll it stays in tension
Any issues with pex piping ? I’ll be in the process of a bathroom Reno and would like to use it as well .. just hear stories of failing.
Epic job there, mate. 👍🏾
Looking good. 👌🏾
Thanks 👍
I’m such a fan. You are so talented. Now if I wasn’t so afraid of doing some of these remodels by myself life would be better🥴
You're just here to check him out. I bet he get more views if he did all that shirtless lol
@@GrillWasabi lmaooo stop it. He is really good, no schooling just bare talent. Gives a gyal like me hope that I can do it too. Plus he's handsome but thats besides the point 😂😂
Great job
hi there I have a 30" shelf I want to hang about 1.5 feet over the toilet tank. how do you ensure there arent pipes behind? I also have pex pipes so I'm a little nervous
Did you just called me "boo boo?" 😳
🤣🤣🤣
Hi Alex could you put the link to the crimping tool in the description? That would be really awesome
Great video! I saw you changed the shutoff valves from the copper to ones in line with the Pex pipping, what was the reasoning behind that?
The best way to smooth drywall orbital sander
LOVE IT.
Thanks for Video it gives me a bit of confidence to do my bathroom. Also why no eye wear?
You say to give 'a tick cos ya baby girl needs to go to college' . I would give you more than 1 tick if possible simply because your videos are so educational and inspiring. Everything you do is fantastic you make everything look so easy and also which is great your mistakes (not everyone does that) which goes to show your not afraid in showing them and when doing that you also show how to make them good.
College or no college your videos are great and I love and enjoy watching them. I have watched every single video some well nearly all of them twice if not more. You show detail every single step if not shown you talk us through and I gotta say I would pay YOU to do work for me and that's saying something cos you can't always rely, trust etc some trade's people I have heard some horror stories and experienced some myself!!
Great work again. Please keep us going with your work. I look forward to watching you in action.
BTW you have a lovely family, beautiful kids and a fantastic looking house. Keep those videos coming can't wait for the next one 👍👏👏💪😘😘
I learned a lot in this video. Thank you for sharing! I love it!!! 😍
Great job !
Thanks brother I cannot wait for the next one!
You're some awesome!! We are thinking of buying a home and with your vids ill do some of the work on my own.
I am starting a bathroom reno in a few weeks...what did you estimate this reno to cost and did you stay in or off-budget? Trying to plan ahead for mine! thanks
I hope people do research on some of the remodeling he does, a lot is not to standard or code. I really like what you do bro but you may need to do some more research on some things so people are not steered in the wrong direction. You do good work man, just want to be sure viewers are good.
Nicely done! 😃👍🏻👊🏻
I flinch every time u tap the camera haha
instead of putting a junction box behind the mirror put the junction box in the cabinet and add a plug to it and have power in a cabinet drawer. works great for hair dryers and anything else
The junction box was for the splice he did off the existing vanity light up to the cans. You either have to put the splice in an accessible junction box or rerun the line to stay to code.
Man only if I watched this vid before i did the plumbing at my place! If it was only few days sooner before I saw you could crimp so easily, I could have saved a lot of time trying to solder the copper for days.😂
That looks like polybutylene pipe, don’t let your homeowners insurance company see that.
No additional framing under the toilet?
what are you supposed to do at 4:55 if water comes out? just wipe it down ?
I just found your Chanel and just LOVED IT....
Welcome!!
How far did you move the toilet?
Do you wet the joint tape before placing on compound? and does it matter if you do not.
Doesn’t matter. For beginners I’d recommend wetting the tape first to help prevent bubbles. Once you get the hang of using it, you’ll be comfortable without wetting it
Hey following you step by step I understand, and it’s something after seeing you do it I could pull if. So if you’re not a train professional what’s your 9-5?
Watch his house tour vid. He used to be a respiratory therapist up until recently switching to youtube full time.
A L Gaines yea, awesome thanks definitely will check out that one.
Thanks for sharing that, well done!
