Hell of a bike! I've been lurking around that frame for 1 or 2 years myself. Only think I'd change, even if it performs really well, but just for the looks of it, that golden fork...
I know a couple of quality wheel builders, and one was the distributer for Reserve in Oz. They've stopped using Reserve hoops as there was too many after sales issues with them. That distributor dropped them and has stuck with DT for ali and WeAreOne for carbon
Do you feel that the seat if far enough out of the way? I find this to be such an overlooked aspect of a bike. From what you are saying Mike about its prowess in steeps I am thinking that your answer would be yes. Ive wanted this bike from the day of release. I think I am going to pull the trigger tomorrow.
I think, it is nice they are starting to test some stuff that is not RS/FOX , plenty of options out there that would deserve a review. Fork spring kits / damper cartridges next, please.
That's a good question. I'm not convinced there's a magic formula, but if you took the chainstay length vs body height proportion that I have on the Raaw and extrapolated that to a 6'7" person you'd end up with 500mm chainstays.
Shout out to push industries. Good company! They fixed the lockout on my 20 year old shock to get the lockout to be like a hardtail. That raw alloy look would really pop if you ripped it apart and polished it! BTW, whatever happened to that short guy that used to work for you guys that had the bike with the seatpost that was vertical?
Hi, how do appreciate the geo - sizing. You are 180cm and tested Large. Would you stick with this size, if you were taller? I am 187cm and thinking L / XL …
Hey Mike, i want the same Bike, but im not sure for the size i am 176cm. 84 cm inseme. I know you are riding a Large. How does it feel on the Trail? Its not to long? I think that a medium would be better for me.?
That vivo derailleur doesn't look like anything John has worked on recently I was thinking he ditched the vivo brand to work for TRP and others... Anyway it's magnificent, too bad it's just a limited run.
You can. I run them with xo1 non t-type. Because they’re dub wide you need to reduce the offset of the chain ring to keep things in line. Found a Taiwanese company that make a 32t chainring for t-type to correct the offset.
Any comparison to trek slash gen 5? both frames look the same to me and I was always wondering what's the difference 🤓 I've seen people on facebook groups saying that the slash is night and day comparing to madonna but I can not find any way it would be different 😆
the 65 rocker link gives you the same 160mm rear suspension but with a lower leverage ratio for riders over 90 kg. Mike’d be probably better off with a 60 rocker. ☝️
Hey that looks like a very good park or downhill/freeride type of bike. It also looks good as an enduro bike without the O-chain or whatever that mechanism is the makes it a little calmer on descents. Also that information about the brakes is cool. 2 piston will work for that type of situation in a pinch, and probably good for Enduro. You will just have typically more power with a 4 piston setup, but with the right rotors and pads, they won't overheat. 4 piston just allow a higher hydraulic multiplication depending on piston size. That type of stuff is all information I learned about while I was in technical school for the automotive industry.
I may be missing something but why not just have a hub with less engagement than running an o chain? You’d get the same results with less weight. Seems like it’s fixing a problem we already have a solution to.
If the goal is preventing pedal kickback, the 'dead zone' would be inconsistent. You could have a hub with a single point of engagement and still sometimes be right up against it. I think Kaz might be closer to the truth about how it actually works though, which wouldn't be helped by a lower engagement hub either
People always say the charging of the batteries puts them off. To be honest, I do a quick bike check before riding every time. Keeps me from having second thoughts while riding, or breaking the bike or myself. One of the things I always consider are the batteries if on the bike I’m riding. So hard to make this statement. Moreover, even if I forget to charge, 10-minutes has never failed to charge the battery enough for riding, or I charge on the way to the trailhead. So really, it’s not the battery that’s the problem, it’s the rider simply making a statement. BTW, the T-Type transmission is more suitable for e-bike use in my experience. I’ve never had issues with the AXS on a standard pedal bike. So again, another misnomer here. If you simply don’t want electric powered components, just say that…. Jeesh!
I've already removed AXS from one bike, I'll remove it from my other this winter. A 10 minute chart isn't going to do crap for me. I fully charge every ride, and I've killed a battery in one ride before. I also had an AXS quit mid ride. Just stopped working. Replaced under warranty, but I had no options mid ride when nothing happened to it.
@@JoshuaTootellthis appears to be user error TBH… I’ve had more issues with cable actuated rear mechanicals, so hard to say who’s the bugga here. LOL! The 10-min comment is worst case, which you failed to recognize, so there’s that. I love how he’s honest about the price of certain parts and that the most expensive parts aren’t always necessarily the best parts
Tons of honest, useful info per minute and no BS. Thanks Kaz!!
Huge fan of the lack of fluffy brand-driven bs promotional "reviews". Honest, level-headed, and lacking unnecessary hyperbole 👍👍
I love it when you show your personal bikes. Please keep it up!
Put Kaz in front of camera more
Seriously this guy seems an encyclopedia and speaks simply to the point 👉 👍.
I know.. So much better than monotone glasses guy
I started flipping my bars 180 degrees for the whistler lift. The lift was hitting my bleeder ports on my fox 38. Saves the fender too.
"6 or 9" at 4:20, nice
Nice.
Ronnie Mac approves
Kaz is always good to watch.
And that bike is a dream build.
"No batteries, i like it" me too😂
Kaz knows his stuff, I am impressed with this build
Running the SV8 on my Levo long shocked. Love that shock.
That’s a seriously cool set up, I’d be very keen to try that frame in the future
Got a medium frame on back order can't bloody wait to get a leg over
Such a nice bike, one of my top 5 list.

She’s beautiful. I prefer aluminum and my trail bike build has a lot of similarities to yours. I also avoid anything with a battery.

i just ordered reserve aluminium wheels earlier today
Hi kaz ,What is the head tube angle in this perfect setup?
Kaz, what's your weight and height?
Also, what coil spring lbs is that titanium coil?
I'm 5'11" and 160 lbs. I'm running a 475 lb spring on the SV8, which puts me at 26% sag.
If you were 6’7” what length chainstays would you want?

I, for one, would like to hear more whip noises please and thank you.
Are you using 60 or 65 rocker
The Cura 2 brakes are excellent. Fit the longer lever blades & you'll have plenty of power for that bike.
Kaz Levy and the English dude are my favorite
