- This is WTVJs final newscast intro as the Channel 4 News. They switched to channel 6, a much weaker signal, because of some deal NBC made with CBS. HEY, check out www.fmia.org They own this video!
0:10 That's _damn_ good editing right there.
I love the theme song especially when Will and Uncle Phil enjoying the theme music so funny 😂
I love owned and operated (O&O) stations.
Looked like the guy with the old broken antenna to start with ended up with what appears to be a RadioShack VU-190XR or VU-210XR antenna.
Somewhat deceptive report - "Only the channel is changing".
They weren't moving up to 6, they were moving DOWN to Homestead!
Fortunately, then were able to undo the geographic move with digital transition.
1L6E6VHF Agreed. People in Broward county had better luck picking up a signal from WPTV 5 in West Palm Beach, where I live.
Ehhh kinda deceptive but within reason. Moving from 4 to 6 is in the up direction factually. They were playing with that to make people believe they weren’t moving to a worse channel number. 6 ain’t a bad number but at time it was due to the bad reception issues. Such a switch wouldn’t happen today.
@@charlietriana9448 You are correct, espcially considering that they were short-spaced to WKMG in Orlando.
In the early '60s, Dead county had only four channels that I can remember: channel 2(public); 4(CBS); 7(NBC); and 10(ABC). It's still hard for me to think of WTVJ not being on channel 4. Then they began making TVs with UHF channels!
Looks like they used WNBC's 4 logo up to the switch.
Except it was colored yellow whiles WNBC's was silver.
The change in Philadelphia and the change in South Florida were all related at the time.
KCNC-TV & KUSA-TV Also switched that night as well, none of them carried it live. In fact KUSA Didn't get NBC Until 4:30 in the morning after NBC Had to fight with Gannett to affillate KUSA With the network. KCNC Became a Westinghouse owned station and later (1996) a CBS O&O.
Two additional affiliation swaps happened that same day in addition to the events in Salt Lake City and Denver: a swap between WPRI and WLNE in Providence (caused by the March 1995 purchase of WPRI by CBS, its last station purchase prior to Westinghouse’s acquisition of the network) and a swap between WNCN and WRDC in Raleigh (caused by the Outlet Company’s January 1995 affiliation deal with NBC which led to NBC’s buyout of the station group the following year). Both WPRI and WNCN are now CBS affiliates owned by Nexstar, with the latter station swapping networks with WRAL in late February 2016.
thank you.
Ricky Martin and before and after with Arthur in minute.
WNRW Channel 45 (now WXLV) is a Weak Signal. Got it Fix on WGGT Channel 48 (now WMYV)
The next day after this UA-cam video was originally aired, WTVJ moved to Channel 6. Thus the powers that be, it became NBC 6.
That was the late great Danny Dark doing the voiceover
@TVcompFrEaK You're thinking of Milwaukee, sir.
This aired on Saturday, September 9, 1995.
I like the theme song and it's changed to NBC4 TO NBC6 AT WTVJ🕐 AT 1 AM
It is from 2 spots down the dial, not up. WTVJ NBC 4 went to 6 and WCIX CBS 6 went to channel 4 and became WFOR CBS 4
It also known as "WTVJ News"
wtvj nbc 6 owned by o&o
tyree Harrell wright I like o&o stations.
If NBC is affiliating with WCIX, and CBS is affiliating with WFOR, what network is WTVJ affiliating with?
NBC didn’t affiliate with WCIX. They owned WTVJ and moved it from Channel 4 to Channel 6. WCIX, which was owned by CBS, moved from Channel 6 to Channel 4 and became WFOR.
In the case of this switch in Miami, CBS and NBC swapped licenses and transmitters. So WFOR took over the former WTVJ license and channel position and WTVJ took over the former WCIX license and channel position.
@@joerouse7908 Okay. I see where that point is going. Are you saying that WCIX changed to WFOR?
@@Kevin-xv9pm legally because they had to swap licenses the old WTVJ became WFOR. And the old WCIX became WTVJ. But the stations promoted it as WTVJ moving from 4 to 6 and CBS programming moving from 6 to 4.
@@joerouse7908 Okay. I'm glad your point is moving forward.
when did NBC6 move to Miramar
Maybe late 90s/early 2000s
