It is why Same Chimes New Channel, is where NBC Boston is on its promotion to launch its own TV Channel to replace its 22 year affiliate, and now newly independent WHDH-TV Channel 7. It looks like the NBC Peacock Network mercifully has its ownership in Beantown, under its NBCUniversal Company owned property.
Yes, it's Channel 8 rabbit ears. Cable might be different based on who you have (most have it 2x: one for SD [which now one watches anymore] and one for HD)
In the analogue days, having a startup station (or affiliate or own a new but weaker station) will put a network behind other networks in ratings for many decades, like what CBS was forced to do when Fox stole many of its strong stations in the 1994 New World agreements. If NBC somehow is successful with this start-up station right off the bat, it may have tremendous implications nationwide, as networks will opt out affiliation with stations owned by independent companies and start their own owned-and-operated stations unless these affiliates agree to cough up a lot of money just to keep the affiliation or sell their stations to the network for a bargain. I heard that it used to be that the networks pay a lot of money just to keep strong non-O/O stations affiliated. WHDH is a strong affiliate for NBC but NBC would rather do a startup than paying more for WHDH.
Joseph Lambert HAHAHA HAHAHA. ABC doesn't give no shit to WCVB. You think Hearst is going to remove their flagship station to ABC just because NBC and CBS has O&Os in Boston? Stupid brony, you know nothing of television.
Joseph Lambert Hearst is protecting themselves to keep WMUR in New Hamshire an ABC station. Networks have been cracking down lately on networks with duplicate affiliations, lately. Even KSL in Utah got a Nevada station disaffiliated and they're owned by the Mormons.
THE CHANNEL SHOULD BE CHANNEL 9 SINCE PROVIDENCE IS AN HOUR AWAY AND WJAR IS 10 IN PROVIDENCE IT MAKES SENSE. CHANNEL 7 SHOULD BE CW AND CHANNEL 11 SHOULD BE FOX TV.THIS WAY ALL THE MAJOR NETWORKS ARE ON THE VHF CHANNELS. WHILE THE 25 BECOMES AN INDEPENDENT CHANNEL.
"Same chimes, New channel" is a VERY clever moving slogan, not gonna lie
I miss that day 😞
Cute...same chimes, new channel.
Bill Seitzler ...and no problem.
