“What experience and history teach is that nations and governments have never learned anything from history, or acted upon any lessons they might have drawn from it.”
    George Hegel
This record was created in 2002 detailing the history of events about and within 21 years before it. And yet here we are, 21 years after the recounting, playing the same game, by the same rules, seeking different outcomes. It saddens to imagine that 21 years to come, those of us who will survive the days will likely live to experience the same hardships, intrigues, and political hogwash - imagine 63 years of rocking chairs politics of always being on the move and getting nowhere...sad is an understatement.

Watching this and you realize how most of these big men who walked the corridors of power are no more and now long gone just humbles you as a human. They enjoyed huge perks, thumped their chests, drove in big German machines, lived in big houses, owned many businesses and properties yet still fragile and not immortal.
I wish kenya would have true leaders who go to parliament to truly serve the people not engaging in corruption and looting the country.

the current emerging trends in our forge for politics and governance matters can learn a lot especially from the last days of moi in government. most of the sentiments from moi is his last days of office, i find the to be good advice especially to young upcoming leaders. politics of sincerity. how i wish pple like kebaso morara can have look at this documentary.. a lot of wisdom and learning experience is woven inside it and it portrays the real picture of some of the politician who have let down this great republic. morara should have a look at this, especially now that everything seems to be unreal.

I completely disagree, politically yes he was the best,, but Mwai Kibaki will remain by far the best. He restored respect to the people of Kenya, reforms police forces, improve infrastructure which was long neglected by his predecessor Moi, and Kibaki obeyed the law where when his ministers no matter how close or personal relation he had with the minister you will take political responsibility. Remember Kimunya, Murungaru and Mwireria? But overall Uhuru will go down the history as the worst arrogant and egocentric President this Country will ever hard.

    Things I terribly miss:
    1. The mature politicians of yester years - can't compare to the rubbish we have today (kieleweke/tanga tanga).
    2. Looking West (as opposed to East). For the young people who don't know, getting a loan as a country in the '90s came with conditions that were helpful for the borrowing country. In the case of the West and their institutions like IMF and World Bank, corruption needed to be weeded out before you were advanced the money, as was briefly revealed in the video.
    3. That old Mwai Kibaki - man was a great orator. The 2002 accident really messed him up.
    4. 2003. After Kanu's fall, Kenya was the most optimistic nation in the world. Many missed opportunities along the way. We could be way ahead as a country today.
    Great documentary.

For example Kohi noor they took from India. They looted the colonies and left the colonies in a more destitute state than when they arrived. In Kenya's case, why did the mau mau rebellion happen? Because the British and European people grabbed land from the people of Kenya and left them with nothing, no jobs no land nothing to support themselves. They were very racist and looked to oppress others who they thought were not as evolved as them.

Moi was a man who only loved his job the presidency power and all that which comes with it. Moi was NOT a patriot a nationalist or statesman and to call him these names is the height of hypocrisy by some Kenyans and especially those who benefited from his 24 yrs of misrule. Moi don't even deserve a state burial.
Indeed Moi was the only president who used to criss cross the whole country visiting even the most remotest parts of Kenya but since he so loved power this was the only way he could display it and show authority and this is also why his name was always the first news item in both radio and TV everyday. To think or imagine that Moi was doing this out of patriotism love for the people of Kenya and the country is either hypocrisy or idle thinking.
" It is said that the past explains the present and directs the future "
Imagine we had a retired former president during the 2007/08 post election turmoil that nearly brought this country to its knees and it took Koffi Annan together with the former head of states of Tanzania Ghana and South Africa to broker peace when the country was burning yet Moi was just around never uttered a word and that is the Moi legacy he was part and parcel of the problem and could never have been the solution.
Dr. Martin Luther King Jr said that " He or she who cannot take a stand in times of crisis and live with it whatever the circumstances do NOT deserve to live " Really Moi did not deserve to have lived in the first place"
I personally give Moi credit where it is due and I am giving him 60% credit for a smooth transition and handing over power peacefully to Kibaki in 2002 mainly bcoz Kibaki was a Moi loyalist having served as his VP for 12 yrs and was never a serious political opponent otherwise Moi could NOT have handed power to someone like RAO.

So moi was the one who desecrated the independence constitution and vested powers in the office of the president from 1964 to 1978?
Be real. Either look at the mirror and accept what you see truthfully, or don't look at it at all.
