I am very interested to see a full review on Roja Diaghilev. It would be very interesting and informative video for the viewers and for me too 👍🏼 Thanks
I just included them in these last few videos... you will have to pick them out... but I would rec Diaghilev & Teatro Alla Scala from this list... if you dont own either those are great places to start 🤌🤌🤌
I adopted the "don't chase things" approach quite a while ago. 😄 Seems to work juuuust fine. Only problem is that the adjustment bureau's schedule is very different from mine. 😆 Me want NOW, but me get later. When not expect. Or care anymore. 😂 Caveman not happy. Or something I didn't even know existed will just fall into my lap out of NOWHERE and I don't know what to do with it. 😵💫 I suppose I should be appreciative since they apparently know the future? Or are challenging my distaste for spontaneity? A little help here...
Coming soon... i wore it to bed once and loved it... dont know if I can do it justice off of one full wear and one nighttime wear but damn it I will give it my all 😊
Oh the physical, mental, emotional, but most importantly the spiritual experience that is chypre. It is an extraordinary thing to behold. You don’t wear a good chypre it wears you. In the way that it’s in the driver’s seat and you are a passenger on a trip to a place you are elated by. I wore a vintage 70s Miss Dior yesterday and when I put it on I let go and let it take the wheel. Wonderful video as always my guy. 🙏
I wore and absolutely loved Paloma Picasso in the 80s and 90's. Today's version is really one of those fragrances that is just a shadow of it's former self. Now Jean Patou's 1000 is a fragrance that I could never afford in the 80's but I worked at Saks Fifth Avenue at the fragrance counter, so I was well acquainted with it then. Today I own it, and I think it's still very similar to how I remember it was back in the mid 80s
Great video Ramsey ! I got Sublime, Givenchy lll and My Sin for Christmas, and have a sealed 15ml Extrait of Le Dix in the post. Unfortunately there was a rubber stopper on the My Sin bottle that has deteriorated and tainted the liquid, such a shame. I’m loving Sublime so much.
Sublime is such an underrated Chypre... Jean Karleo is the Roja dove of the 70s 80s and 90s as he loved his classic Chypres! Sorry to hear about ur bottle of my sin 😔😭
Great list I keep referencing with some perfumes I have and many I need to try. I have a decant of Chypre Palatin and know I need a bottle, and I also have a sample of Rochas Femme and know I need a bottle. P.S. I wish you had included Parfum d’Empire’s Azemour Les Orangers as it is a great summery fruity chypre worthy of any top list.
Mr Ram. I just got a few bottles of some vintage molyneux, and their amazing! They don't scream on skin, but the longevity and use of naturals is great. I seen that you have captain (woody fougere). Lord (1988) is similar to captain but more woods less green. Quartz for men (1995) is like smelling an fresh orange tree at first, and as it dries down it turns into a fougere. And I think you would like quartz for women (1977) the most, it is a chypre with a galbanum note that rivals that of Chanel 19/silences, it's bitter mossy and green but just perfect. Some say it's a better version of diorella. I would recommend putting them on your sniff list.
Yes diagilev is awesome. First time I smelt it I was reminded of sex indeed. But Now that you have gotten your nose on mitsouko extrait would you say that it has animalic notes??
Awesome video Ramsey. I personally have trouble with my top 3 Chypre order. (Rochas Femme, Mitsouko, and Diaghilev. The Spicy cumin is amazing in Rochas but Mitsouko is so beautifully constructed with that Guerlainade. Then there’s Diaghilev with that stunning civet dry down. Hard choice.
AG by Bogue Profumo, an incredible vintage style floral Chypre deserves your attention I believe...it's kinda animalic as well, right up your alley I'd say...🙂
Damn son ,another master class, who but you could do this ? No shade on anyone, but just who else ?. Just masterly Rams ,so much effort and so much appreciated let me tell ya thanks man 🙏✌️👍

Hey Ramsey, another great review brother. I have a beautiful recommendation for you which doesn't seem to get any reviews or love. See if you can get your hands on 'Cardin de Pierre Cardin' from 1976, make sure you get the edt version, vapo- spray if possible. A stunning aldehydic woody chypre with the most amazing drydown. Waiting for you review.
Ok I put it on the wish list... I have spent wayyyyyyy to much money lately so maybe later in the year that is something I can hunt down 😊 Thanks for the rec 🍻
Great vid Ramsey, my favorite Chypre are Roja Fetish Femme Chypre Siam Antaeus Iquitos and many many more, have you tried Jean Louis Scherrer original? Very nice green floral
Great videos (both parts), thank you. What do you think about Beloved Amouage (woman), Pierre Cardin Cardin and Bal a Versailles Desprez? My no. 1 perfume is Salome. I can't describe what Salome means to me. Pardon my bad english.
Yes I have the designer Parfums EDT of Sublime and it is quite good... i dont have frame of reference comparing it to the vintage... but it is a great frag for 40 bucks and whatever it is🍻
I was at one of the mini launch parties for Paloma Picasso. Her married Jonas Salk who had a lab and home in La Jolla, CA. I be as a student, a freshman. I still have the bottle of pure perfume she gave to the guests. It was a little frosted glass bottle and my gd, it smells so beautiful. I was also at the mini launch party for Nikki de Saint Phalle. That’s a very Interesting perfume. Just to continue my brag…lol…I was at a party at Madonna’s house prior to the launch of Jean Paul Gaultier Classique…where we were gifted bottles of perfume ( I loved it then). I don’t know any of the Roja Dove’s mostly because of the price point. Apart from the Roja’s and Chypre Siam (I can’t stand that lime note as a perfume…it’s too Thai Kitchen smelling to me), great list. My great aunt wore Arpege. I have her empty bottle. I love that stuff. Oh…Ysatis…❤❤❤. And your right, the new product sucks. But the vintage is so much fun. I have a bottle of Coty Chypre. I bought a bunch of old bottles of perfume from some shop. I did not know what some of them were because the labels were gone. T he Coty Chypre was so pretty and it wore it a lot till I invited this big perfu me collector to come over and go through my things. She told me what she thought it was and the bottle seemed accurate. And Mitsouko! I get so many compliments when I wear it…and I love it so much….the perfume not the compliments. But I think that it puts a smile on my typically dour face when I wear it and people notice. It’s such a feel good perfume. Good video… Chanel #5…. I guess if you don’t get, you don’t get it…but wow…how come you don’t get it? Those flower petals really dance. I had fun. Cheers
I recently blind purchased a bottle of Geo F Trumper Curzon and it has instantly vaulted to near the top of my rotation. Apparently Trumper still use real oakmoss.
Eucris and Sandalwood are both great and so too Spanish Leather. I love using Spanish Leather as an aftershave in cooler months. The Trumper collection comprises 4 fragrances (Curzon, Astor, Wellington and Marlborough) that apparently trace their origins back to the 19th century. Who knows whether the current fragrances bear any resemblance to the historic formulations but if you are interested in upscale classic barbershop style fragrances (well, Trumper’s is literally a barbershop after all) then I haven’t found any better. FYI, Trumper sells a gift set with 30mls of each of the aforementioned fragrances for £125 (not sure how easy this would be to acquire in the US).
I haven't tried many of the list but chypre palatin is heaven in a bottle. Beautiful citrusy aldehydic opening turning into a soft fruity, balsamic and mossy base.
Just watched your interview with Papillon and was very intrigued with “Salome”. A lot of people compare Salome with Diaghilev. What similarities do you find between them?
@@RamseytheRamNow I see why you rate Chypre Palatin and Mitsouko so high, wearing one on each wrist after just receiving vintage bottles ;)…Wow! Chypre Palatin reminds in the beginning of juicy fruit bubble gum and spices🤷♂️ Mitsouko is more elegant and austere. Chypre Palatin is quite playful and flirty (can’t stop sniffing this one;)
Finally, a ranked list where I already own the top 5 and don’t need to sell another kidney 😂 One of my more recent acquisitions is Chypre Palatin. When I wear that, I imagine being outside, maybe in a lush green meadow, and I have a massive diamond in my hand and hold it up to the Sun. The light strikes the diamond refracting all kinds of beautiful light through its many facets. A rainbow of changing colors. It’s just stunningly beautiful. Why did you have to mention Monsieur Lanvin... I got a decant of it and now I'm in love with it but abs can not find a bottle. So I'm on a constant search for not to sell a kidney to get it. The animalics in Monsieur are so well that they are to die for!
They really are! They are some of the best use of animalics I have ever smelled.. so lucky to have found that set with the soap & Aftershave & EDT... they are out there... keep looking!
@@RamseytheRam On a side note, my #sotd is Cardinal by Zoologist. And it's close to being a chypre, the chypre feeling is there. Citrussy, rosy, peppery opening with green, leathery, earthy backbone. Hey @ramsey I was wondering if you’ve ever tried Bogue ~ Maai, any opinion on it please ?
