I use a MPK249 and I flip anything.
This looks like just what I have been looking for! Would love to see a future video on your channel of how you would use it in your Cubase workflow.
Thank you!
Excellent review, thank you.
Man I wish maschine would have done this first. O well guess I'm switching.
Literally in the same spot i have a mk3 and an fl key 37 this would do everything they can in a waaay smaller package, or could get the 61 key for the same size.
I’ll buy maschine key if it came out second, it’ll be worth the money. 😊
Congrats Bro. Awesome video!
Thanks bro!!!
this looks "Complete" .. reminds me of my old eps16 days .. that 404 is just extra good 😎
SOLD!!! Take my money!
Looks nice with good button sensible layout
No xlr mic imput???
Very unfortunate. They do have 2x 1/4" TRS Audio Inputs. So you could make it work, as long as you do not need a pre-amp. Not sure what the sequencer looks like though?
Why is everyone beefing about the two Gb of RAM? That’s just for the processor of a 7” screen and minimal graphics. It’s not storage or that serious. You really get no lag at all!
Awesome!!!🌟🌟💯💯
What is a 1/4 inch FS2 input???
Absolutely love it but I was surprised to see that their wasn't a dedicated quantize button!!! That would of been nice since it is a main go to function for beat-making!!! Now if Native Instruments would make their keyboards like Akai does!!!!
Its a touch screan menu option, Andy Mac seemed to do it fast pretty easily.
“TC” is Akai’s term on the MPC Key 37 and other MPCs as a Time Correct/Quantize button. That’s their dedicated quantize button.
Is the red as shiny as on the Akai Advertisement or more of a matt finish? In a lot of videos it seems way more Matt than I thought.
Its the same red as standerd Red colour, Im looking around My room here at a red Celebrations tub, a red box cutter knife and the red on My St George flag to the red of My Push bike, to a a red lego Brick, to the XXL Tomato Ketchup bottle all in My view. Its all red lol.
When stems drop, this will be more than interesting.
Can we use MPC software from an iPhone & will i get studio quality sound from my phone?
Hi anganamedchris, great question! Unfortunately, the deep application integration is reserved for computers. However, the MPC Key 37 is a completely standalone production workstation. Concept, composition, recording, etc. can all be done on the Key 37 by itself, so no need for an iPhone or computer unless you need to stream or send the finished product somewhere!
If you have more questions about the awesome line of MPC workstations, give me a ring!

@@sweetwater I will. Thanks. I finally got an answer!
@@sweetwater one more question.. with MPC studio & the software, will the quality be the same as if I was working on a MPC One or MPC x?
I like the design, looks like the same good quality build as there other devices however I dont have a reason to get one as it dont have a battery it therefore cant replace My laptop.
We need Mitch back ❤
Can anybody tell me of Akai sound quality vs Yamaha MODX ? Same league, different league I am bored with my Yamaha and want something new
How is it a game changer? It doesn’t do anything that isn’t already being done with the rest of the Akai Family which is tremendous by the way ..
It may not be enough to get an akai user to switch, but as someone stacking a roland j6 with a sp-404, a kordbot, and a midi keyboard to try and keep my footprint small (I'm a bassist who gets called in to play duo and band shows with keyboard and guitar frontmen), this is just what I need to have some sonic flexibility in s portable form factor without being tethered to a laptop or having to learn how to play chords and melodies on a grid
@@Boodoobrown Well its not enough to get Me to finally buy a MPC, Ill stick to the MPK249.
Its not, its got the same ram as My old 2018 laptop, and thats a problem. Id have to keep bouncing to audio all the time.
I wish Roland would do something like this with the Fantom 0 series.
I thought this dude was finally gone make a beat😂
You don't need the AC adapter... it runs fine on a USB battery!! 👍
Can it damage the device or create issue with the sd card
If flex beat is so sick why you still need a 404 fo
Это точно не для всех игрушка, хотя что то в ней есть
This is a fine product but by no means is this a game changer. Almost all the MPCs are interchangeable. The X is really the only one that is meaningfully differentiated. Akai has basically been repackaging the same product 5 times over which is very disappointing.
Akai should be able to make generational steps forward by now (the X is ~7 years old now) but they just refuse to
Still not as behind as NI is tho.
How many 'DAW-in-a-box' are there at this size with keys? In terms of repackaging, this is a very good repackage.
@@EulogyfortheAngels
(1) I mean… virtually every high-end workstation keyboard. Maschine. I don’t know how generous you want to be with Elektron as some of their boxes can count here too. The Force. What do you want to call the higher end trackers? I mean those can go either way as well. S-2400.
I have one of the in production MPCs. They are good at what they do. Like I said, it is a fine product. Akai is just missing the opportunity to become the market.
(2) A keyboard isn’t an improvement. They have been around forever. They already were integrated into the MPC ecosystem.
It is a fine repackaging. But it just could be so much better
True...definitely not a game changer. That buzz word is used so often, it practically means nothing
X is only different in its built in controls and not much else.
No RAM upgrade, NO SALE.
forget that man check out this dude he does a better example on the MPC 37 keys

Akai needs to release everyones money back.
Where is the black one...🙄
There isn't one they skipt that one.
Looks kinda cheap, despite the $899 price tag. The Red color is outdated in today’s studios( in my opinion) question: producers are you making money after buying all this gear? Or is this a hobby? Just wondering 🤷🏽♂️
roid 1+ 😎
Pirated keygen type beat
2gb of RAM is UNACCEPTABLE in 2024, they are repackaging the same internals of the mpc one from 2020. This is utterly rediculous! Same 10 year old processor and everything. Get real!
I didn't even realise that till the last minute. My old 2018 HP probook has more ram and power then the key 37.
What is UNACCEPTABLE is armchair comments that have no idea how optimization works inside of a single purpose architecture. Your iPhone 12 has 4gb, can run far heavier computation than any music instrument has.
Can’t wait to arranger mode to be implemented 🤫
@@unspecialist Respectfully, I don't think you're making quite the mic-drop comment you think you're making by saying a more recent phone with twice the memory has a lot more capability than something with half the memory (especially when the machine with less memory is being called on to run advanced, memory-intensive programming on architecture that's already -- what, a decade old?). Besides, a common and long-running complaint about the Akai boxes is that it's very easy to hit the limits of their memory and (especially) processing power.
Hopefully they will beef it up with at least 4 GB of memory, an internal SSD, built-in BATTERY and SPEAKER, mic (XLR) input. Add all that without taking anything away and release it also in RETRO, and one in BLACK. Maybe call it an MPC Key 37 XL…a Winner…😎
Nobody is going to buy this
