I love your practical approach and easy-to-follow tutorial. Your video was more informative than any other I've watched on this instrument. Thank you and may God richly bless you.
Great instructional video.New to MPCs and getting my Key 37 tomorrow. I feel likes I'll be leagues ahead of putting something together vs. all the other videos I've watched. Also, thanks for only using the synths it ships with. Almost every other video is loading up Fabric, Studio Strings, Jura, etc. I know you probably have them. So props for showing and creating with what actually comes with it for someone new to MPC.
Nice one Matthew, bought my MPC Key 37 after a couple of years struggling with the Force's workflow - already it's making more sense and your video was the perfect (re) introduction - thanks man
Thanks for your video Man! I appreciate your time ,effort and patience, some of us need a little more help than others and im one ,please keep the videos coming your a life saver!😊
Hello Matthew, I'm Maurice from France. I don't speak English (thanks Google translator) but I really like your video. 👍 I'm going to buy the MPC KEY 37 very soon and your explanations are invaluable to start learning how the beast works... I'm more a hardware synthesizer keyboardist recording on Logic and not at all a beatmaker. (At 70 I am more of the pop/rock generation.) lol For fun I wanted to buy a drum machine (Behringer LMDrum + Novation Bass Station II) And lately I discovered this marvel! 🤩 Forgot the LMDrum and the Novation Bass because for the same price I have a much more powerful machine. Thanks again! I subscribe
Very good information about the MPC Key 37. I have a midi controller that works well with the pitchbend set to +/~ 24 . How can I set and save the this setting then recall it later for another session? Mostly synth bass patches. Thanks for any help you provide.🎹🎹🎹
Hello. Thank you for the information you shared with us. I bought mpc key 37. I learn by experience. I could not run MPC Key 37 in Logic Pro on my iMac computer. Do you have any information about this? How should the connection be best?
Hey really great video! I appreciate you putting it together. Can you go over when you would use the Timing Correct/ Quantize feature and how you go about it? I just started using the key 37 and I see how turning off the global TC captures my recording closer to my actual timing. However, I also see how using TC can get my rhythm closer to on time. What I don’t quite understand is the strength part. I’m sure it will take some playing around with but hoping you can shed some light. Thanks man
Would or could you play backing tracks and play a live sound on stage with this? I want to play and control it strapped around my shoulder like a suitcase and also sing wirelessly. I have an MPC One and it sits there cause I don’t have a computer now to update it and this seems more fun with the keys all in one piece like an instrument and studio in one? Thanks for the video?
Thanks for the overview. A little question about it. If I have a vst on my laptop plugged on the mpc key 37, is it possible to hear the presets coming from the laptop to the mpc ? And also to record it as a part of a project on the mpc? Or this groovebox reads and accepts only sounds from Akai ?
Oh my, finally a good review of the most interesting parts! I was interested in a workflow and now i know. Very intuitive, compared to some workstations. And the ability to download plugins on itself is a step in the right direction. And a touch screen also. Back in a day we could expect that only on top notch 3-5 grands workstations! Also what about exporting and sample bit depth? 24\48, right?
Quarter inch output from guitar to input on back of the mpc. Left or Right. Or get a splitter with a quarter inch input and left and right out put. Plug left and right male ends into the mpc left and right input. Plug guitar into female end of the left and right splitter. Then figure out how to use effects on your sound that's coming out of the mpc. Oh!! And don't forget to have fun. No chronic overthinking or stress please ❤❤❤. This post is first class. ❤❤❤
Thank you for a great breakdown - I still have one question that I can't find a solution for anywhere. Can I use the pads and keyboard independently from each other? For example - thinking specifically for live performance - can I hold down a keys chord and trigger separate one shots with the drum pads?
I would find leaning over the keyboard to get to everything a big pain. I don't use the plugin synths very often so I'd want that keyboard out of my way.
Great video! Can you please tell me can you play wav samples on keyboard? Can you make key mapping, stretch one wav sample all over the keyboard as some earlier models of sampler keyboards could? Best regards
Hey man, I want to get away from fully digital daws and use hardware such as an mpc. What mpc would you recommend that i should get as a complete beginner?
I just bought (and love!) my MPC Live 2 but I love the idea of something like this even more, with the 37 keys bundled up…why should I not return my MPC Live 2, and just get this for ~$400 less?
It runs the same software in standard alone as all the other new MPCs. It just depends on what you want, it is good to have options. The live 2 has more connectivity and a battery and a speaker, so it cost a bit more.
Thank you for the video, you have made me 900 € poorer now 🙃. I still have a question: Are the projects saved as MP3? And the second question would be how can I insert vocals externally in a project.
Looks like the buttons are same as the Mpc one let’s hope they last longer than mine, where they pushed the solder pad away from the circuit board and broke the connection. Akai uk wouldn’t do anything about it, because I’d bought it used, even though it was only 6 months old, with hardly any use. Clearly a huge design flaw.
Wow, wonder if there was something done to it to make it like that from the previous owner. I used to use my MPC One very often longer than six months and it still works fine like day one. That’s a bummer.
Great review! I know it gotta be expensive as hell! Native Instruments need to do something asap, instead of manufacturing the same shit they been doing for over 10 years.
The lack of an SSD plug is not the deal-breaker some folks think it is as good quality 1TB SD cards are getting pretty cheap. As for the 2GB, that is disappointing, but not a serious impediment. Would love it if Akai added a 2nd USB-A port to both the Key 37 and One+ so users wouldn't have to deal with dongle hell.
The only reason I let it go is because the Live 2 is a lot more expensive and still has 2GB. Of course it also has more inputs, outputs a hard drive bay, another USB connection and of course the speaker. They couldn't let something less expensive outshine it until the Live 3 comes out with 4GB

both

I’m definitely buying the Keys 37 on Black Friday.

The main issue, is that it is red! And, it should have a option for internal HD! Otherwise - pretty cool!
Could you please make a video on how to create a song in the sequence ?it's been a struggle thanks if you can reply.
Does it makes sense to buy it now or might there be a MPC3OS version with more ram at NAMM?

Is this worth it for live performances? Like what I do with the Juno DS?
Is this like a miniak????
how do you hook up speakers to this unit?

I would find leaning over the keyboard to get to everything a big pain. I don't use the plugin synths very often so I'd want that keyboard out of my way.
Thanks for info🥹
Can we load our favorite VSTi plug-in (Windows DAW) into this MPC?
No, not that I am aware of. The MPC 2 software on the computer can load 3rd party VSTs.
@@MatthewStrattoncan you auto sample those VST's in the key 37? Would you recommend that?

How about a video , or two for absolute beginners?. A-Z Threre is a lot to learn in this amazing keyboard
Hey man, I want to get away from fully digital daws and use hardware such as an mpc. What mpc would you recommend that i should get as a complete beginner?
So if I have a mpc live and I'll buy Akai mpk mini plus would that give me mpc keys 37 And what would be the limitations
I don't get any Sound out of it😢 i downloaded everything. How do you get the Sound? Do i need to Connect it with my audio interface?

At work, trying to pay the bills. Hope all is well.
Can this, or can this not seperate stems??? Some say only on software, yet there is a video of an Akai rep seperating stems right on the mpc 37????
Can you use the Mpc key 37 with a Mpc studio?

Can you tweak a preset from a plugin and then save it as a 'user' preset?

What’s the difference between this unit and the Roland JD XI and are connections, the same
Price. Huge difference 😮
What's your favourite new line mpc?
Does anybody know when these are available to buy ???
They are available at all the major music stores.. sweetwater, guitar center, zzounds..
What’s up with the controller mode? No video on that anywhere
I haven’t registered yet to download and install drivers. It likely works the same once you install the drivers, I have to find them first.
Looks like the buttons are same as the Mpc one let’s hope they last longer than mine, where they pushed the solder pad away from the circuit board and broke the connection. It is about $900 USD. Not bad for what you can do with it.
2 gig RAM makes no sense as they keep adding more complex instruments which makes this limited to less instruments than the MPC One +
The MPC One + has the same amount of ram as far as I am aware, only the MPC x se and the MPC key 61 have four gigs of ram.
The lack of an SSD plug is not the deal-breaker some folks think it is as good quality 1TB SD cards are getting pretty cheap. As for the 2GB, that is disappointing, but not a serious impediment. No akai writes polyphony. Why?
2GB ram is a deal breaker (for me).
The only reason I let it go is because the Live 2 is a lot more expensive and still has 2GB. Of course it also has more inputs, outputs a hard drive bay, another USB connection and of course the speaker. They couldn't let something less expensive outshine it until the Live 3 comes out with 4GB

0.75x is somehow better...tho slightly inebriated
Don't have stems.. Stems cost money
Stems is going to be $9.99 when it comes out. Not a bad upgrade.
