The First Generation Honda-HRV is a Beauty and a Classic.

The 4x4 version does off road, take a look at the videos on here in snow, the Aussie outback etc. I had the 1.6 auto. I used to live in France and drive back and forth to the UK, happily drove 200 miles non-stop. Silent drive, smooth as silk and solidly built. CVT had 2WD, but 4x4 would activate when needed. Being CVT there are no gear changes, just smooth seamless transmission. Arguably the best car I have ever owned.

Amazing these journo's have so little knowledge. These are very, very good offroad and I don't mean muddy fields. My brother and I took his 1.6 manual four wheel drive through some brutal bits of Salisbury Plain and it coped incredibly well.
Ten years later and I'm now on the lookout for an early, ideally poorly, 3-door to convert to an EV.

I have one of these a 2002 manual drive in the same colour I paid £1900 for it 3 1/2 years ago this bugger is bombproof I hear this same crap about its not a proper off roader is it that this presenter is spouting all the time. Well I go of road all the time I use it as a shooting wagon and have never got stuck and i towed my mates scoda yeti out of the muck on one occasion but it is fitted with proper off road boots . He might not think it is an off roader but they forgot to tell the car and it thinks it is . I would not hesitate to go any where any distance at the drop of a hat im 73 and have had a lot of cars but this ones at the top just fitted a new cam belt one hundred and seven thousand miles and still driving like its new. If you are thinking of buying one make sure some bugger aint removed the rear prop shaft

He is so wrong in so many ways....Excellent offroader, with on-demand 4WD, just watch the youtubes. The most reliable SUV ever built according to insurance claim data. I had 4 of them so I should know (the body work picks up dents, hence the changes)

Its all wheel drive first you call it a 4x4 then a two wheel drive. The other wheels engage whern needed via the ecu. Do your research first.

What's this obsession with off-road ability? be honest, in your life, how many times have you driven off-road? I've been driving since 1982 and I've never need to or wanted to stray from the road.

It's not really off road snow it could come in handy or just stay at home
Till snow goes away better idea

We cannot find any engine parts here in Cyprus. Any recommendations?

It's a D engine (D16W) so most parts are compatible with other D16 engines from Honda's range.

You might think this looks hideous, but take a look at the following models.... they are hideous and have no real use at all haha
