OMG !!! I thought Iwas the only one still living who even knew about PLEASURE !!! I hope you visit their "FUTURE NOW" catalog. "STRONG LOVE" "THOUGHTS OF OLD FLAMES" " GLIDE" and of course "FUTURE NOW" (We are not alone).

I love this group, they were on the same label as The Blackbyrds which was Fantasy records.

Very underrated band of that era! They could play it all!

The honking sound is called a cuica. It's Latin percussion that is used by rubbing a rosined stick that's attached to a drum head with a cloth and changing the pitch with tension. Much like playing with your straw and plastic top.

Also one of Funkadelic's most famous songs Not Just Knee Deep makes heavy use of a cuica.

For decades, I always wondered what made that sound when it pops up on songs. Reminds me of monkey noises in a jungle. Haha. Thanks for the info. 😎

That was a beautiful intro& tribute to Mother's Day. The sound is an instrument that looks like a bag. Different areas of the bag/satchel make the sound that comes out at the top of the instrument; Earth Wind and Fire used it in their early 1970's songs. That was the slide trombone solo. Not many ppl used the slide trombone as a solo instrument. btw- It says it at the end '....sassy lady' which meant sexy, sharp, fine, snappy, confident or a woman who could clap back.

Hi Ms. D., I like Jazz as long as it does not get too contemporary.. Part sounded like a trombone..
I have a question, do U know what Sassafras is?? I did not know that U had looked it up; it is a plant, they make a Sassafras Tea.. ♠Mr.G..

I didn't hear this song - at least, as far as I can remember - until sometime in the 1990s. The main song on that album, 'Joyous', was the one I grew up hearing the most on Philly radio, back in 1977. Glad you like it! You're welcome. 😎

Mothers are the best! I share your sentiments and hope all children treat their moms with love, gratefulness, respect and understanding!
This song sounds like a Brazilian tune! Pretty jazzy and cool! I've never heard it before! Have a groovy one!

To me, "Glide" is their best song, and it's seriously funky.

Loved Selim. To me that's the best. But many dances to Glide.

A cool vibe to this one and some cool playing particularly the sax, reminiscent of Ramsey Lewis .For some great sax playing checkout Winelight by Grover Washington-Colin Ward
