Hi Priya, Im on a closed work permit. Im working as a caregiver. I have a new job offer in Saskatchewan as a caregiver. However, i need to be on a open work permit to move to SK. Is it possible to change my work permit from closed to open? Thanks in advance. More power to your channel.
Hi madam I am on closed work permit and I completed my 2 years with current employer and now my employer not giving me any hours to work because last I asked him to pay me overtime hours which he never gave me since starting and I just around a month before came from Vacation and he said I have to find another job because he doesn’t have hours for me
I have a question, I worked for a company for one year and the company was taken over by another company how can I change the employer name since my. LMIa is still active but my work permit still has the old company’s name on it, how can I change the name to the new employer on my current work permit
If I take the ICT visa... A closed work permit is a kind of obligation to an employee right.. Same as what is obligation to employer ? Do they have the rights to lay off an employee or call back to their original destination again before the ICT visa ends ?
Well, some are justifiable and some not. It all depends on what they mentioned in their application for LMiA and under what circumstances they are now laying off people. If they are giving an option to head to the original branch, then that’s ok. Some employers are laying off without any notice and I know of people who have moved here with their families with young children and feel stuck. There is always an option to try explaining your circumstances and see if the officer will approve an open work permit. The reasons for why an open work permit will be given is so broad and not just what’s mentioned on the website about vulnerability. It ultimately depends on the officer’s discretion upon reviewing the file for an open work permit.
@@BWImmigration thank you I asked this question because my ICT also in progress.. waiting for it. I don't want to end up the same situation as him. Thank you
@@mycodevlog another option many go for is if your spouse is accompanying with you on an open work permit, she can choose to enrol in a DLI (Masters Program) and in this case you can apply for an open work permit based on this. She could get a PGWP once she is finished and you could also get SOWP based on that.
Hi Priya I have a specific question.. My Friend is in Canada under ICT visa , LMIA exempt, 2year valid. Ha has been there for 8 Months. Now, The employer decided to lay off some numbers in their canada branch so request him to return and continue to work or he goes under layoff plan. He is in trouble now... Is it an employer abusive or not ? he has not completed one year so can't apply for PR. It's a closed work permit so he needs to find a new employer and visa right ?, it's hard as we all know the current situation there.. So what are the options for him to stay there with his family ? Can he stay there till the ICT visa ends and work any part time jobs, other jobs ? Thank you
I think I have answered this question in your previous comment. Let me know if you still have questions. Your friend can click on the link I provided in the description to try and apply for an open work permit. He doesn’t lose anything by doing so. Evidence is key and onus lies on the applicant to prove his current circumstances with the employer to apply for open work permit.
Hi, I have a closed work permit status in Quebec and working here for 15months. I’m planning to move to Ontario since I got a new employer to sponsor me and they are now on the process for LMIA application. Do I need to go for flagpooling once they get the approve LMIA or I will apply online for work permit either taking the special work authorization so I can work while my permit is on the process. Please advice. Thank you!
Thank you Priya
