Hi mate, looking at your videos you don't seem to have been on here for ages. Just wanted to say a MASSIVE THANK YOU. You have absolutely saved the day with this video. I've just followed your instructions and I've sorted my bike. I can't tell you how happy I am it's fixed. This video was invaluable and so brilliantly done. I hope you come back and do more of anything else you know. You're a brilliant teacher. Thank you so much buddy ❤
How does the sensor work? How does it sense torque and is it possible to change the torque at which the motor starts? Is the motor control proportional to torque or fully on or off? One of the best videos I've seen.
You’re a life saver mate, I’ve had my carerra Vengance E-spec sat in my shed for a whole year, because I had stripped my crank arm pedal thread. I re tapped my crank arm, and then discovered that I had “error 21” on my monitor! Thanks to you, I could confidently locate the source of the problem (the cable of the Torque sensor was cut by the chain slipping off) buy a replacement part, replace it and get it up and running again! Thank you so much, and I wish you the best, mate ❤
Hiya great video. I've got a couple of questions. 1. Can the bike work without the PAS sensor? 2. Is it possible to remove the speed restriction for off road use? Thanks Scott
Mate, your small channel has done me a massive favour. I order a new sensor but it was the wrong one. I got a 4 pin rather then a 6pin. (Ordered from eBay for £33) ended up buy thing another for the same price. Now I got a 4 pin and an 6 pin
I have a carrera subway e and cant even find the torque sensor im so confused as my walk assistance works perfectly but when pedalling nothing happens. I dont have anything on the pedals only a wire connecting the motor to the bike on the back bracket. Please i need help with this im so lost rn and very frustrated as i just want to use my ebike for uber orders but cant because of this annoying problem.
Hi is the torque sensor and crank sensor the same thing I have error 21 showing on screen but when I've looked it up it says torque sensor problem thanks
11:23 - the sensor should spin freely? My disc spins freely when my sensor is not screwed in but only spins a small amount when it is screwed in properly?
If the crank sensor is broken does that stop the rear motor from working? My bike made a few crazy sounds then stoped now the pedal assist doesn’t work but not had it a few weeks 500miles on it
hi, i think you have just saved a bike and my son! i have a 2016 vulcan e version i (ebct16), my son has managed to break the crank sensor but I cant find the connector on the bike to plug the replacement crank sensor into. only a small black male connector spare inside. is this the one?
I have a Carrera vengeance Espec and i have a flashing high light on my control panel. And the motor does not work when i am riding . I have been told it could be the sensor. Do you think this is correct.
Could I install a 6 pin sensor into a 4 pin sensor sprocket unit ? One unit says 18 on it and the other 21 on the part number so I'll be installing a new sensor into an older front chain set will it work, so the old chain set was made for the 4 pin connector sensors , the bit on the back with the green bits on if I change all of that and fit the 6 pin sensor into it will it work OK?
@josh Jones Hey mate...I've got a problem with the torque sensor on my vengeance E spec and am not sure if a wire has been completely cut or if its supposed to be so...also the sensor has a big chip out of it..wandered if u could be of any help???
Iv just removed mine but as i was taking it out the two top black prongs (which enter the crank) moved a few mil forwards , would this mean the sensor won't work ? Iv pushed both the prongs back .
When i replaced the sensor, i did a test pedal. I heard a clicking sound. Found that in 3 areas it was making this sound crossing it. I stripped the whole crank down, and made sure absolutely everything was perfect. I mean everything. I put it back together, and the sound is happening again. Then after a few test pedals, it jams. I strip it down, sensor is snapped. Do you know what could be causing this?
It may be that the spinning plate inside the chain set where the sensor mounts is sticking which is causing the sensor to rip. If you take the drive side off and try and rotate the inside of the crank it should move freely from the rest of the crank assembly.
@@joshjones6501 I ended up finding out eventually haha I used 2 different size of screw putting the sensor on, causing it to catch. One of the screws had an integrated washer. Live and learn lol
I have a 2.25. The biggest I have seen is a shwalb hans dambf Tyre which was a 2.35 Tyre. That required me to zip tie the cables out the way however the Tyre cleared no problem!
I had the 21 error but now the error is gone. I washed bike as had a lot of sand. The power sometimes is engaged and other times I'm getting no power or error message. Any ideas sir?
Hi mate is the crank sensor supposed to go around the full crank or is it supposed to stay in the same position as I just bought a new sensor and it’s not working because it’s going around the full crank
Hi. I have tried to fit a new sensor because my old one has snapped but the problem i am facing is that after i screw in the new sensor, if i try to move the pedal then the pedal doesn’t move.
my one was hanging on by the wires for miles before i notice it was broke then had to go another 20 miles ha, the broken bit of plastic cover was still in the frame,, lucky,, and i ended up gluing it together, but after watching this i might replace it,
at least a year after this video has gone out im looking if anyone knows where i can get a replacement from, some how managed to cut my sensors cable in half. Thanks in advance.
Hi i have carrera ebike . When i padel it on eco mode then i feel strange vibration from the crank sensor . Anyone can tell me whats wrong with my bike ?
CAN ANY 1 HELP ME OUT HERE MY BIKE ALL WORKES WITH NO FAULT CODES SHOWING IT WORKES IN WALK MODE BUT IT JST WONT PEDDLE ASSIST ME AT ALL WHY PLZ ANY 1 ???????????
Oh sorry the bike I have is the vengance e spec with the newer sensor conctor but can any 1 help me out here it all workes fine with no fault codes at all but it still wont peddle assist me why ??????
@Daniel James Audio Ltd it may be possible I’m still trying to learn that myself, there’s an rpm sensor on the motor board that I’m gonna bypass and see if that gets any results….
Hey thanks for the comment Carl, what Halfords do you work in? And there are only 2 different sensor types within the Suntour HESC systems. They did a bafang powered vengeance e in 2017 but that was discontinued years ago. And with the speed hack I’ve wondered that myself however there is no software plug in I am aware of that would allow us to download a faster version of software and I can’t find any suntour ECU which is manufactured with a faster speed already set. The rpm may be a good shout. The only other thing may be adding a throttle by slicing in to the sensor and soldering the connectors of a throttle but even if that engaged power it would probably still top out 15mph.

Not all heroes wear capes... They make UA-cam channels!
Thank you very much for making this video it was very simple to sort out the issue 😊

Brilliant mate just the video I needed, can you buy sensors online or just Halfords?

Where can I order a new sensor from pleasantly. Link would be very helpful
Hi , my old Vengeance has no error codes but power keeps going on and off to the wheel so would that be the crack sensor ?
Thanks
You my friend are a true hero, excellent video. ❤
Hi do you know the size of the 3 screws? I've lost mine... thank you 😀
Josh, great first two videos on the Carrera ebike range. Looking forward to the rest of the series.

Its not a electric Q, but what size tyre have you got on the back? i was thinking of trying a 2.4? but the gear cable looks like it would rub?

Can you change the sensor for a different sensor because halfords dont have anymore the original one
Halfords are able to get any sensor and if they say otherwise you are likely speaking to someone who may not be clued up on them
Do you need the cover or can it be used with out ?
On my carrera e vengeance the stop on the bike for the crank sensor is on the side , that normal or should it be at the top ?
Thanks mate,your a star,so helpful
Hi I would like to know is please about every connector on the controller board is please and what parts of the bike do they connect too
I had the 21 error but now the error is gone. I washed bike as had a lot of sand. The power sometimes is engaged and other times I'm getting no power or error message. Any ideas sir?
Did you eventually come up with solution? I’m having this problem now…
Bike keeps holding back then motor kicks in especially going up bank. Any ideas.
My sensor wire has snapped and the sensor cover can you get those too
Hi mate is the crank sensor supposed to go around the full crank or is it supposed to stay in the same position as I just bought a new sensor and it’s not working because it’s going around the full crank
It should always stay in the same place against the black locator
Hi. I have tried to fit a new sensor because my old one has snapped but the problem i am facing is that after i screw in the new sensor, if i try to move the pedal then the pedal doesn’t move.
Is there a vid with sensor changing thats below the middle of cranks .
It should be the same process unless it’s a bottom bracket sensor. Have you got the old subway or crossfire e?
Hey mate I have carrera Ebike I have changed my sensor now I have an error 21 on my display what’s the problem ?
Can I replace the front sprocket on my Carerra crossfire marl 1 model .
How do you make the bike faster - removing the speed lock like?
I’m dying to find the answer to this question
@@graysonwilde3983 I realy trying to find out if it's possible to increase the speed by modifying the sensore or
What is the name of the ring that stop sensor to move please.many thanks
Hi, great video just what I was looking for, can you make a video on dismantle and cleaning crank chainring, thanks
I will give it a go!
Thank you for this brilliant video . How the speed limiter can be removed os increase the speed limit, eighter by the senssore on through the ICU
How do you do that ?
Hey mate where can i buy the sensor please
Orsum fair play xplained it proper
thank you for this! saved me a fortune !!!
Hiya pal where can I get a replacement sensor from
Can you send a link to the sensor

Excellent l have this problem l change thank you very helpful.
I've got the crossfire e and I can't release the battery
My carrera vengeance fails all the time. It's frustrating. Great bike when it works.
Hi i have carrera ebike . When i padel it on eco mode then i feel strange vibration from the crank sensor . Anyone can tell me whats wrong with my bike ?
What’s the blue or green stickers mean ?
If u mean the dot on the crank sensor probably a Bach recognition way during manufacturing or something.
Brother I have error 21 how much Halford will charge from me to fix?
where can you pick up these sensors?
eBay

I’ve got a 2.0 vengeance and the battery won’t come off it, it turns but doesn’t take the battery off it
Turn the bike upside down and pull it down
Lovely tutorial m8, thank you
I work as a halfords bike tech and this is not entirely true… it won’t be the same sensor each bike listed as the plug connections are different.
