Cheers, Spurg
Im reading some are finding the suspensions stiff on the XE. Im a bit concerned cause the main reason was the suspensions (our roads up here are terrible) and most bike suspensions are way too stiff. I currently have an africa twin and was hoping the scrambler suspensions would be even better...do you think theres enough adjustability to make them very comfortable? Thanks!
Triumph are a world class brand. Their bikes are amazing, from this new 1200 scrambler all the way through to the Bobber. Definately my favorite brand. Well done Triumph
Finally a good in English review. My XE is on order. I do not do long trips anymore and this is going to be my goldieloks bike for 250 mile and under runs and some fire road trips in Colorado. I also am tired of the Voltron and Optimus Prime bastard child looks of all the new ADV bikes. Instead T mated a Thruxton R with a Tiger XCa and this is their spawn. Bravo T! Again, the other makers will be playing catch up.
This is the best work I have ever seen from Spurg; informative and natural. He is much better here than he is talking about jeans while pointing at Juice or pretending to have friendly podcast banter with Lemmy and that other guy who never says anything of value.
huge fan of scrambler style motorcycles guys back in the early seventies I owned a couple of Amma CL 350 and 450 Honda which were great bikes for their day had a lot of fun with those bikes on and off road both. Thanks for sharing the video.

Went and sat on one yesterday. Did the whole “eyeball it, sit and stand up on it” at the dealer. It’s pretty nice. The one I checked out was $16,900 due to added parts. Very good looking bike, but I’m not throwing down an amount of cash like that for a bike. Bike prices are getting out of control and no one is addressing it. The temptation factor goes out the window when I can buy an awesome vehicle for the same price. It looks really cool, but it’s right at $20k out the door for a bike.
Revzilla. Top review, best yet on this bike. The suspension looked to be working really well and the bike just seemed totally stable and composed on the dirt considering the weight of the bike. Would you say the suspension is as good as or even better than a KTM1090 Adventure R?
I would say as good for suspension considering it's twin shock rears. The weight must be around the same for both bikes. Most are showing dry weight for the 1200 scrambler but people as guessing around 230kg wet.
@youtube can eat my ass with a spoon Who is crying? Didn't see any testers saying anything other than the suspension is fantastic? I am an enduro rider and long range RTW off road adventure rider of 25 + years experience and know something about suspension. If you watch all the vids where the E is running off road, then if you know ANYTHING about off road suspension you will notice something seriously unusual. Concentrate on the headlight and observe just how level it stays when the bike is recovering from a jump. The fact that the jump is not a major one is not the point, nothing out there in that weight class recovers like that, not even a KTM1090R, certainly not an Africa Twin and not anything from BMW either. Technically that is a new standard. Of course you would actually need to understand off road motorcycle suspension to appreciate what I have just pointed out. Most people don't.
@youtube can eat my ass with a spoon Well mate you in for a surprise when the back to back reviews come along, you will be eating your words then. I assure you I seriously do know what I am talking about and if you didn't spot the exceptional behaviour of that bike on the rough then all you tell me is that you DONT know anything about suspension, Christ man, that is self-evident, you clearly don't even know what the hell to look for! You have to put personal prejudice aside and observe technical facts and recognise what you are seeing.I hate BMW bikes but if I saw an radical level of suspension behaviour in a new model I would at least spot it and acknowledge it. Most large adventure bikes only go as far as Starbucks that is quite true, but that does NOT mean this suspension is not exceptional. Technical facts are what real pros are interested in and Triumph has done a game changing job on this bike. There is a very good reason why Triumph was confident enough to enter this bike into the Baja race, just unfortunate the rider injured himself in practice on his KTM450. Of course such a large bike would not have been competitive but that is not the point, nor would a KTM1090R or any other large 207 kilo bike. However, it's capability would have sent shock waves through the industry.
@youtube can eat my ass with a spoon I am not a fanbois, I am not going to buy one of these, I am just an impartial observer who having crossed every desert on Earth, does actually know what I am talking about and also knows when I have seen something exceptional. Stock for stock against similar weight bikes this Trumpet will surprise a lot of people and the thing is built like a tank so I doubt it will fall apart when they do enter it next time. No one is saying it is a Baja contender, of course not, but nor would anything else like this be, but the fact that Triumph even considered entering should tell you something, they certainly were not going to do it to be humiliated. The reason why this guy in the video stopped them jumping was insurance liability restrictions on rider injury not the bikes capability. One of the other journos told me about that from another test. That Dommie of yours is a good bike BTW, excellent choice.
@youtube can eat my ass with a spoon No you are being unfair, he practised mainly with the Triumph when they were testing and setting it up (although apparently, the bike had no significant mods apart from better air filtration and removal of indicators Cat etc). The rider, Ernie Vigil, was just riding his own personal 450 to get 'desert fit' when the accident happened. He was gutted, so were Triumph as they could not get a replacement rider of the same standard in time who could be released from contract. Vigil was seriously confident about the bike and I reckon he would have finished OK, and it would have surprised a lot of people. I reckon it was pretty cool of Triumph to risk it and it shows they believe in the strength of it's construction. After all, it is not a competition bike at all

Mr. S.- For an adventure bike in my family I'd need to have the ability to comfortably carry my wife as a passenger and also be able to carry some luggage. Is that high pipes arrangement necessary, or is it a styling exercise which could be replaced to allow saddlebags? And how would the bike be with a passenger? Nice review though and the bike seems real nice too.
The heat from the exhaust ruins the bike for me. I live in Southern California and it’s like riding a oven with the door open. Can’t put right leg down at traffic lights. I’ve owned 20 bikes over the last 25 years so have good idea of what engine heat should be.
There is no denying this big looks bad ass that's for sure. Weight price luggage. range with the small tank. Lack of any screen. how it would survive an off road miss hap is all up for discussion. but it sure looks cool.
Good review....I've read/watched pretty much everything that's come out about this bike, the only common negative seems to be the price!. But you are getting an amazing bike for your money....I'm really hoping a test ride confirms it is as good as I want it to be. For that sort of money it will need to be a do everything bike...and I never subscribe to the thoughts that a bike isn't suitable for big distances, I used to ride my ultimate Desert scrambler, my beloved XR650R vast distances! Cheers, Steve
@NotthatChatlieRose TheOTHERCharlieRose yep, literally their first teaser video that came out ended with someone jumping it lol. ua-cam.com/video/CgHgVw6dWck/v-deo.html
Probably more to do with liability than anything else. If they just let you go hard and you end up in hospital they are going to be paying through the nose, even more so if it turns out to be a manufacturing fault and/or lawyers get involved.
I'm old enough to know what a scrambler really is and is not. Even in 1970 Triumph merely took a standard TR6 and put high pipes on it and called it a "scrambler" TR6C. This I agree is not a scrambler by definition but an awesome entry into the ADV segment from the Modern classic perspective. I would much rather ride this thing on trails than a 550 pound pseudo off road ADV bike. I think from the looks and reports it has much more off road potential. Scrambler has become no more than a marketing term these days. What ever you call it for today's upscale market, it is a good product.
would like to know how this compares on road to something like an Africa Twin, as they both have large front wheels. Not being able to load it with side bags is a knock for me, if you're going to classify it as an ADV bike personally.
I have a rule when traveling for business. I always take a flight out the following day. You don't want to be the guy who stands up and says "I have to go" when the event runs late.
"I'm Spurg...." Or...is it Stuart? The bike's speedo at 5:58 seems to be calling you by your given name ;) (And LOL at the, "Naughty, naughty, Dunbar...") But seriously, GREAT review, man! Revzilla has the best content! The latest Triumphs have really been blowing my mind...maybe enough to lure me offa my beloved Sportster.
That Bob Guy hahaha... if my given name were actually “Stuart” I would have been picked on a lot less in elementary school! “Spurgeon Dunbar” born and raised!!
@@SpurgeonDunbar - Wow, so Spurgeon actually is your first name? Did your parents hate you? Did they really want a girl? I can only imagine what you were subjected to by kids like me, unfortunately. I apologize on behalf of all of the a-holes like myself who've grown up to try to be better people ;)
Spurg, you (or your dad) should've been a doctor. Imagine being Spurgeon the surgeon? Priceless! Ah, but I'm sure you've heard that a million times already :-/ (I do feel extra sorry for your aunt, Spurgeen. Sheesh, are you guys all from Hootinholler, West Virginny or someplace?)
To XE or XC; is that the question? Will either allow us to grunt and sweat under a weary life, And face the dread of something after death, The undiscovered country, from whose bourn No traveller returns, puzzles the will? Or is one model truly better to make us bear those ills we have? Alas, this video obscures these Questions of the soul and leaves us Yet to wonder: To XE . . . or to XC?
How tall is Spurg? I loved the previous Scrambler but it was just too small for me and it looks like a kid's bike under my 6'5" frame. From this video it looks like XE version is quite a bit bigger and might even fit me somehow.
To run saddlebags, you'd need some saddlebag supports on the pipe side to keep the bag away from the heat. Right now, there aren't any available yet. -DrewZilla
Bad ass bike, and the B-52s called, they want their wardrobe back Lol ! What are they afraid of with 9 inches of travel? That's dirt bike level suspension. I think it can take it.
I love the look. Love the engine and finally having a real suspension. Only things that make me still side with the AT is I don't need to pay $4,000 more to add Go Pro and link to my freaking phone. Give me switchable ABS and traction control. Keep it simple. Anything else is just something to fuck up the computer. Also pigeon holes you into one brand of camera or 1 of 2 operating systems on a phone.
I checked a fully equipped Scrambler 1200 at a Triumph dealer. It was $18,000. I was like to see a shootout between the new Triumph and Honda’s Africa Twin.
We did write a written review when the Vulcan S was released. It's unlikely we'd be able to make a video review at this time. -DrewZilla *www.revzilla.com/common-tread/2015-kawasaki-vulcan-s-abs-first-ride
I find that kind of hard to tell just because the desert sled is mainly an off road bike with street capabilities, the triumph is kind of the other way. I am curios as well though.
Naked adventure but it has no bags. Hell I don't even think naked adventure as two words can go together since pretty much a Hallmark of adventure bikes is a decent-sized front fairing.

@@ThatBobGuy850 I had a college buddy who said I should have become a Vet, so I could be Spurgeon the Sturgeon Surgeon. Never gets old.
To XE or XC; is that the question?
Will either allow us to grunt and sweat under a weary life,
And face the dread of something after death,
The undiscovered country, from whose bourn
No traveller returns, puzzles the will?
Or is one model truly better
to make us bear those ills we have?
Alas, this video obscures these
Questions of the soul and leaves us
Yet to wonder: To XE . . . or to XC?
Walter Wilkins well played. Hamlet forever!
XC for me
Alas, poor Tiger. I knew him well.
Gr8 review!! Cool shirt !! Something different!!
Great review, can I ask exactly what is missing in order for this to be a proper "scrambler" (longer suspension perhaps)?
Please review the new royal Enfield 650 twins ! I trust your channel more than anything else 😎😎
How tall is Spurg? I loved the previous Scrambler but it was just too small for me and it looks like a kid's bike under my 6'5" frame. From this video it looks like XE version is quite a bit bigger and might even fit me somehow.
Spurgeon is 6'3", and like him, you'd probably fit better on the taller XE. -DrewZilla
I am looking forward to see some hairy, burly guys wearing a Hello Kitty shirt for their track bikes soon. LOL
Hi Spurgeon, very nice review on the Triumph, how did you enjoyed my country?
gastao4x4 They don’t like hooning. That’s pretty lame.
I really like it but I need some luggage options. Can you even run saddlebags with those pipes?
To run saddlebags, you'd need some saddlebag supports on the pipe side to keep the bag away from the heat. Right now, there aren't any available yet. -DrewZilla
Where is the fall mentioned in the review? I want to see how it happened. Did triumph not let you add it?
saucehollywood Unfortunately I didn’t have footage of it. If I had, I would have made sure my team figured out a way to use it.
What was that motorcycle you guys showed that comes in a crate for cheap? I cannot find it on y'all's channel
It's the CSC SG250. -DrewZilla

Tell the old man to Take his helmet of when he goes into a shop.
I looks stupid and they can think he is a robber.
Good ride, good video 👍👍👍
Really cool bike
This bike is awesome
How's the gearing? Low speed stuff etc..
I checked a fully equipped Scrambler 1200 at a Triumph dealer. It was $18,000. I was like to see a shootout between the new Triumph and Honda’s Africa Twin.
$18000? That is a car price range. Good grief! Nice bike but...
That bike is BETTER than africa twin, by MILES!
300mm and airhead and is perfect
Loose the godam back ground music, I want to hear the exhaust noise !
Does anyone know if triumph is using this dash in any of their other bikes this year?
Excellent...!!
Nah, DR 650 for life
No, u have to buy that Triumph right now.
Lets see Lem Lem lay it down on the flat track :P
Spurg, What exactly are you wearing? lol Polka dots?
brnlcky7 when they let me dress myself I take advantage of it!!
@@SpurgeonDunbar You were perfect for the evening 90s acid rave event.
disekjoumoer hahaha
Rock dude ! Obrigado
You guys should review the Kawasaki Vulcan S soon
We did write a written review when the Vulcan S was released. It's unlikely we'd be able to make a video review at this time. -DrewZilla

200 fondness from Poland
I am 5’2 can you recommend me a bike something in 500cc displacement ???
Have you considered the Royal Enfield Himalayan? Perhaps the Honda Rebel 500? -DrewZilla
Why run a p-twin with those thigh burner pipes?
Would you compare this to a Ducati Scrambler Desert Sled?
I find that kind of hard to tell just because the desert sled is mainly an off road bike with street capabilities, the triumph is kind of the other way. I am curios as well though.
Portugal caralhoo :D
é do caralho mesmo!
Portugal ❤️❤️❤️
This thing is big and tall man, he makes it look almost small under him how tall is this guy?
Spurgeon is 6'3". -DrewZilla
It looks like the muffler would burn your leg! ?
I would hate to set up all those cameras.
Was that sweater to run away from the wild bulls in that area?
André it was so the sweep riders could find me if I crashed and ended up in a ditch!!
@@SpurgeonDunbar
In this part of Portugal, they make wild bulls, they kill!
At least you didn’t get “flagged” for riding too slow.
Not small for you?
Guys. .... Can you guys do a mondial HPS 300 review
Probably not, as that bike isn't sold here in the United States. Sorry for the inconvenience. -DrewZilla
Naked adventure but it has no bags. Hell I don't even think naked adventure as two words can go together since pretty much a Hallmark of adventure bikes is a decent-sized front fairing.
My wife rides her Yamaha XT500 all over Europe with soft panniers and a tank bag. Just has some exhaust wrap stitched onto the inside of 1 pannier.
Great review... but I hope you got the shirt for free
Raoul Duke oh, I paid for it! This one is from my personal collection!
It kinda reminds me of the Dinka Enduro from gta5
