A quick correction to the shops and npcs: You can only talk to sleeping Villagers that have a corresponding shop for a skill. Villagers without a shop can't be talked to while they're sleeping. Also, there is a difference between the skill shops (for which you must talk with a villager) and the stationary shops (for which you must interact with the register, which is also available all day and night, even when there's no npc behind the counter)
Great video, but another quick correction I don't think people have mentioned, the focus doesn't work like you explained. Filling up the bar doesn't increase your experience gained, it's a flat bonus which can be increased by interacting with some shrines around the map. Filling up the bar simply provides you with that buff for longer, as a part of it is used every time you do or collect anything.
Another useful tip about the treasure chests you can find around the map: If you place them at your home, they do not count as a real chest and do not expand your chest space, they're only for decoration. There's also a bug currently that when you place the chest, you can't pick it up again. I recommend not placing them at all until the bug gets fixed.
The tip in this video about character names is incorrect! It is NOT your hidden username. In character creation, the first option is the character name, which is what every other player will see you as (above your head, in the social tab, etc.). The second is the nickname, which is what the NPCs will call you in their dialogue. The character name must be unique and not shared by any other players but the nickname does not need to be. A lot of people choose a unique first + last name combo for the character name (as spaces are allowed) and then just the first name for the nickname for better flow of conversation with NPCs. I've seen some great fantasy names with this system, it definitely seems to be quite popular to go that route and kind of roleplay an OC. I'm concerned some poor people are going to watch this video and then have regrets that they are dickbutt69 as far as other players are concerned, because you can't change the name afterwards and it will be stuck with you longterm. I've seen in the Discord that some people have been reaching out to support to fully delete their characters and start from scratch with a new one because they made the mistake with the name first time around.

Food itself doesn't provide a buff. It simply fills your focus bar. The focus bar is a measure of XP bonus you have available. The amount you can store (Length of focus bar) can be increased by spending renown at the phoenix shrine. You can increase the amount of XP bonus you get by spending renown at the dragon shrine. Note that the larger XP bonus you have, the more focus you use up. Spend wisely. :)
Thanks for the tips! I got about an hour of gameplay in before they had to shut the servers down due to too much traffic. So now I’m bored waiting for them to come back up lol
While you can use the shops while the NPCs are walking around, there is currently a bug I keep running into. After a short time, they will continue walking away, and if you are still in the shop menu, it bugs your UI, and you cannot open any menus. I hope this gets fixed soon.
U can change ur outfit / look right away . If u go to the tailor in the town and use his wardrobe . But u can NOT change skin tone , face, eye color , name and skin color . But the rest . Yes u can :>

So I haven't found a way to trade but you can request items from other players if you need them and they can be gifted that way. You can kinda interact with some pieces i.e. the wardrobe allows you to change your appearance but you cannot sit down or lie down on your bed for example.

So your home is in a separate world by it's self. When you travel out onto the map you're put into a server with up to 25 people, so it would be multiple instances of the same world. You can visit other players homes via the noticeboard at your own home.
I'm afraid the top name you choose is not your account name. It is the name everyone will see in game. Please be careful when creating this name! It will represent you to everyone! The nickname is just what NPCs will call you.
I kinda worry about Palia's sustainability. We all know MMO players are content devourers, and I feel like with what there is in the game atm most people will get bored rather quickly. Honestly, I was so surprised to learn about the Beta because last I heard about Palia was in 2021 when New World failed me hard and I was just browsing news. Back then it was expected to be many years until the game was ready for launch, and now it has only been two. Wondering if it was enough time to provide an MMO sized experience.
I dunno with the level of crafting and base building so it could be as popular as minecraft. And if there is a strong chatty friendly community then it could become like VRchat or 2nd life

We can't start changing the definitions of words. MMO wasn't a thing back in the days of the 100 player servers. We called them ORPGs or all kinds of other things. When server architectures were invented that allowed LARGE numbers of simultaneous players the MASSIVELY multiplayer online game became a thing. This game is not an MMO. The developers should not characterize it as an MMO. Going onto the Discord and uttering the letters MMO launches fervent debates because people don't understand what the very first letter in MMO is about. The false advertising is going to piss people like me off who are joining expecting hundreds of people to be running around us and instead get a far more localized game. There is no need to set yourself up to disappoint players when you can simply not brand it as something that it is not.
We could go with a MUD - Multi-User Dungeon - used to be reserved for text-based multiplayer games even though the term didn't explicitly infer text. After that we went to Graphical MUD while searching for better terminology. Then ORPG for the online roleplaying game. MUD, ORPG, simply call it a multi-player game. Basically almost every definition that excludes large scale could apply - MMO is pretty much the only thing it is not. MMO would be an additional qualifier if the game met the "massive" condition - so we call it whatever we call multiplayer games that don't allow for hundreds of players to share a persistent space. As a gamer who ONLY enjoys games where I'm surrounded by hundreds or thousands of players I need that acronym to retain its meaning so I can find the games I'm interested in - if MMO gets appropriated by the entire online game community then all I ask for is a NEW acronym for JUST the large ones - but again...we already have that. Memory is hazy but we might even have used MORPG and MMORPG depending on scale but I've been playing ORPGs since 1994 so it all blends together.
it has been said by some game staff that there MIGHT be a capital city in a future update where there can be a lot more players at once in the same area.
This looks dreadfully boring. But maybe its catering to that style. The lack of role play activities doesnt make sense to me, like what are you even supposed to do that a thousand other games dont already do

This is definitely a great video for people just now coming into Palia!! One thing though, you can change your hair color when you get in game!
I went into some shop and clicked on the dressing room door and it let me change my hair and outfit

sundrop lilys are very plentiful, you should be fine to sell them for extra dosh, they're everywhere

you can also pray at altars (uses renown points) to increase your focus

Turn your ingredients into cooked food, its worth more than individual ingredients when you sell.
You can change anything, hair and clothing related which includes your eye brow color.

Nope. It’s not set on real life time. An in game day is one hour and that’s when you’ll have to water your plants.
