Personally, I found gaining speed of 400-450mph (643-680kph) before implementing a 10-12 degree climb is useful. One retains speed, for pesky air spawns, and will generally get to a higher altitude quicker than other climb techniques. *oops, he covered this, I commented before that section of the video.
Only now mastering jet combat - took some time as the transition from props to jets is significant, especially the tendency to turn fight. One basic principle which applies to all air combat - make sure you plan your exit from combat to reset. F84 is a great starter - start with ground pounding
I learned low-tier jet combat before I saw this video (thanks to some squadron mates), but it's always good to have a reminder like this great video! That said, things don't work out as nicely at higher BR-missiles change the game a lot. I would love to see a video about high-tier jet aircraft combat as good as this one! My experience in high-tier matches has so far been: 1) watching most of my team get wrecked in four minutes and end up facing 12 enemies alongside a level-22 teammate (with 13 hours of flight time in ARB) flying his brand new F-5 near the opposite side of the map; 2) watching the AIM-7E missiles I fire from my Japanese F-4 jet miss; 3) watching the AIM-7E missiles fired at me from US F-4 jets hit me (or R-60 missiles, etc.); 4) watching 4 teammates (just 3 km away from me) all dive on a single enemy while I request their help to shake off the 2 guys on my six; 5) etc. I could go on for another 10-12 items. Any help on how to get better success in high-tier jet battles will be much welcome! Great videos, by the way. I totally agree with your perspective on 4th-generation jets (ua-cam.com/video/xYmiUap1EfM/v-deo.html&ab_channel=JetNoob)!
Get some team players to play with you maybe? via discord warthunder channel? I'm thinking about posting there to get some players to form up for early jet play sessions since I feel very similar in my matches.
@@bakunincervantes4372 I'm in a squadron and we sometimes play high-tier ARB. "Sometimes," as not everyone is into ARB or has high-tier aircraft. I think the biggest mistake someone can make with their first jet is it being a high BR premium or event vehicle (cough) MiG-23MF (cough) F-5C (cough) A-10 Edit: F-4S's and MiG-23ML (COUGH, COUGH, COUGH) and whatever shit premium Gaijin adds next Edit of the Edit: F-20 (COUGH COUGH COUGH COUGH COUGH COUGH WHEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEZ........ dies)
Well su11 is kind of plane that has lot of energy but you shouldn’t do like face to face combat you always lead and then get shot so the thing is you to get high altitude then dive on then zoom and boom
I’ve been playing war thunder in and out since 2011, and I never spent a cent, got one jet and that was the Swedish tech tree, decided to try using premium time, easily made it to jets in my completely untouched American tech tree, then I wanted to finish my Soviet so I bought the su11, su11 is not a good as a start to jets, but I absolutely enjoyed the manoeuvrability, hard hitting guns and speed, just clicked with me I guess, but it taught me to stop spraying so much, as it has a very very small ammo count. So now I take one or two shots rather than spraying the entire time I’m behind people, I moved this knowledge back into props and damn I’ve actually improved my skill. Too good but expensive
I’m now researching the F-84b as my first tech tree jet (I have the F-5C and I’m now good with it my first 30ish games were awful but then I got good and learned how to use missiles properly)
I have always been really good about climbing to high altitudes in props, and I still do the same in jets now, but theres a big problem with it for me. I have 3 jets. The A4-E, the F2H banshee, and the italian G91 pre serie. The skyhawk is pretty good for me but at 8.7 everything can outrun and out climb me so its hard to always be above everyone. The banshee compresses like crazy in a dive so altitude kind of doesnt matter much when I cant use it at high speeds to catch stuff, and so everything outruns me. As for the G91, its a great plane, I hate the 50 cals on it, and at 8.3 NOBODY climbs. Everyone just hits the deck which sucks because the G91 cant hit its top speed anywhere below 3000m, it just rips itself apart while most other jets can maintain that speed and still do an aggressive turn.
My first ever yet was the Mig-9 it's not the best bu it's workable. I just got the F84b and been having a blast boom n zoomin with it. I just gake as much headons as i can at the start while keeping myself safe and disengaging before i get hit and then i just pick of whats left.
Just got the F-84, it only took me 5 months lol. Head ons for me work great, they have done for the last few matches. The biggest danger to me in doing that is actually idiot teammates. In my last match I just got off, as of writing this, I won 2 head ons with zero hits scored against me, then I get hit by a teammate, takes out my tail, end of match.
I learned jets with the Messerschmitt Me-262A-1a and the A-1a/U1. Keep in mind I already had the Gloster Meteor F Mk.3 And it was honestly pure pain. What I immedietly learned is that the 262 has barely any good values. But it falls like a brick, and hits like a truck. I believe that if you get into any dogfight with any other plane, you're basically dead automatically. If the enemy is somewhat capable, they will win a fight against you. The key to playing the Messers is to never fight, but do what the 262 was designed for. Intercept. You shall be that one asshole, who swoops into a dogfight as the third party, and removes the enemy. You should only attack enemies that are busy already, or are at such a low state of energy that they can not turn towards you. Also, if things get to that point, the 262 is able to head-on. Going Head On with an enemy that wants to 1v1 you gives you better chances than to dodge it, and try to fight him outright, because the 262 is one of the worst dogfighters among all early jets. Honestly, I can say that I have a lot of fun with the 262 now that I know how. But I still believe that the Me-262 should be at a lower BR. I do think that the A-1a should sit at 6.3, and I am tired of pretending that they shouldn't. They are fine in 7.0, even in 7.7, but in a full uptier they are pure pain.....and they do fair really well against Props, but are not unbeatable. And mostly, 6.0 is full of F2Gs that massacre 109s and 190s, with German teams pretty much being 3 Ju-288Cs, 1 He-177, A Ta-152C, and an Fw-190D
I would have a good idea for planes like Me 262. It would be good that they couldn't get full uptier. So if we use Me 262 (7.0 BR) as example it would face Max 7.3 or 7.7 BR vehicles. That would fix the problem that it is almost unplayable in full uptier but if moved down would slaughter everything in full downtier. I know that it would increase match waiting time, but it could be optional.
yeah totally agree long time ago i made the same mistakes specilally not gaining enough speed , gaining altitude in begginer jets is also important, but always have in mid when you're uptiered do not climb aganist supersonic early jets playing as subsonic never!, even a high tier subsonic like the A_10 you are a sitting duck aganist SRAH missiles (witch are pretty easy to lock on high altitudes) , watch out for baits(when you see a too easy target) experimented players will lead to a death trap ( usually in mid tier supersonic battles), if you need to research stock on a supersonic use bombs on targets like bases , then use your bullets on light ground targets like AAA return to base (if you survive) and repeat and always research flares first in mid / top tier cause its another game , literally its a dodge missile simulator.
My first jet was the a4e so ill give a tip for it. Stay low! you are not built for dogfights!!! try to catch someone offgurd and relese a aim9b on them (yes IK its a terrible missle) relesing a aim9b from the back is lethal. (the best way is just bomb but thats boring)
Recently I tried test-flying the A-4E Early, but it was PAINFUL. After finding mouse aim mode annoyingly unrealistic i decided to use mouse joystick mode. Whenever i tried pulling up slightly or turning to aim for a target after takeoff, the plane would flip abruptly in a way that in less then 2 seconds it had its nose pointed to the ground and its back (the top of the wings) POINTING TO THE START OF THE RUNWAY. WHY? Later i setted my Pitch and Roll sensivity to ZERO% to see if it helped but nothing changed. What's wrong with it? Or with ME?? PLS HELP.
