I'm in Texas, we call the actual discs "clay pigeons", or "clays", but the actual act of shooting the clays is referred to as "skeet shooting" or "shootin' skeet". But we rarely refer to the individual targets as "skeet". I think maybe the singular of "skeet" is "skoot".

Sorry Plinkster, where I grew up (the Canal Zone, or Panama Canal) we called them clay pigeons, or just clays for short, and I have not watched yet, but I'll guess it will go through about 35, give or take.
Well, we know what you're talking about, however these targets are used in a variety of disciplines. These include trap, skeet, some in sporting clays, and the different versions of trap and skeet. So by calling them "skeet targets" we know what you're talking about but this is somewhat incorrect. In my school club the guys at the club call them clays, targets, birds, clay pigeons...
