Hello! I was wondering what size knitting needle you used? Also what size hole do the beads end up with when they are finished? Thank you so much. Your video was incredibly helpful!!
I'm glad you liked it! I gave the beads away and it was so long ago I can't remember but my instinct is you would need a hole that was about as fat as the end of your pinkie finger. If you know anyone with dreads, this is a good time to have a look lol. It's like, you don't want to damage their dreads but you do want the beads to grip. I seem to recall winding paper around a standard wooden pencil, to make it a little fatter and to stop paint baking onto the inside of the hole... Was that in the video? Haha believe me, it's a wonder I can remember my own name these days. xx
@@UnrulyHousewife thank you! I actually have dreads myself! Mine are 8-10 mm so I will aim for that once i get the paper wrapped arpund the pencil. I appreciate your response!!
That purple twirly one could make a nice ring too. Making rings out of PC is the reason I bought a metal ring mandrel. It took a bit of doing though to get ones that didn't break. I made two tests last week that are still holding up well. I have even gone to sleep with them on and they are still not broken... also dropped them several times on various surfaces because they don't actually fit any of my fingers well. :p - Heidi
Unruly Housewife The one thing I can say is make sure you bake the clay long enough. Longer than you think you might need to. I think that was my problem with the lack of strength and how easily they broke before. I didn't cook them nearly long enough.
Great video, I loved the little leaf! I almost spent $25 on a mould pack just to make little leaves now I don't need to :D Ill also be making the swirly beads
this is so helpful clay is definitely on my next hobby craft shopping list ,I haven't used fimo since primary school. I also subbed and loved the "here's one I made earlier " blue Peter-esk moment
Thanks Cindy! I think I should but I need to explore ways to pattern them that are more simple than making a stack of difficult canes. Maybe with spirals.... Hmmm.... xx
Tuppy :) Hi! She is indeed lovely... There are quite a few things on here that are good for beginners. The batik effect tutorial is really easy and fun. My biggest advice (probably already in this video) is buy a cheap little oven thermometer, pre-heat and always bake for as long as the manufacturer says (I bake for a bit longer). xx
Unruly Housewife Ty that does help. I'm the naughty guilty one that has clay sat in a draw....I can't help it. well they are pretty pastel ones Ha ha ha. I think my worry was baking them...knowing me I would burn the house down. plus its a fan oven So yes maybe the thermometer might be a good idea. I was just having a look through some of your video's today and will probably watch some more tonight. your tutorials are great 🤗 P.S regarding your Why you moved jobs video. I'm suprised you put up with it so long she was obviously a jealous wench of you for some reason with a really weird sense of humour. glad it worked out in the end 😆🖒X
Tuppy :) Thanks! You won't burn the house down lol. If you think they might darken you can tent foil over them. I use a fan oven, so far so good! As for the girl at the job... she was a horror novel in the making. 😉
Hi Val, how do you stop the clay going too squishy?? Or might it be the brand I'm using?? I've been working with Sculptey III (it's all I can get my hands on at the moment) and I find it picks up every single fingerprint and goes too squishy ... any tips? Also thanks a million for your videos!! Am loving all of the inspiration :D
Sculpey lll doesn't have the greatest reputation, especially for strength after baking. could you order something else online? Other Sculpey lines, or Fimo Professional? I haven't used it but putting it in the fridge for an hour, or in the freezer for a few mins, might make it temporarily less sticky. Good luck! Thanks for the encouraging words too. xx
Unruly Housewife Brilliant!! Thanks so much! I'll try putting it in the freezer/fridge and see how I get on, will also look at ordering some Fimo Professional, do you recommend any online sellers? I'm in Ireland so most places in the UK deliver here :D Also, thanks for the follow on Instagram (love.myooak) :D
Ah that's you! LOL OK I either shop around for deals on Amazon UK, or I buy stuff from here: www.craftmerrily.co.uk/modelling-clay.html Hey, they should sponsor me, or give me free clay! xx
Just a tip I've recently learned, roll a slab of clay out and sandwich it in-between 2 pieces of white sketchbook paper (any white paper will do I've even used card board) This leeches out the oils in the clay making it less sticky. I generally check back every hour to see how its doing.
Lovely. Thank you for sharing.
You rock keeping it simple instead of getting expensive tools that I've seen. New sub💗💗💗
That bead rack is soooo simple!! It’s genius!!
Great video! I can’t wait to try these and put them on my locs!!!

Ooh, they sound promising! I haven't made a ring yet but they are my favourite form of jewellery, so I ought to try. xx

Absolutely! x
thank you for this video I'm so excited to try it! xx
Beautiful 👍
Do you have to treat the bead........many shower without taking the beads out of the locks ? rain proof ?
Purple Sunflower Polymer Clay is essentially PVC, so it's fine in water. xx
You should always take the beads out of your dreads when you shower though... Just because of mold and potential rot :)
Great video, I loved the little leaf! I almost spent $25 on a mould pack just to make little leaves now I don't need to :D Ill also be making the swirly beads
Yay! That's brilliant. :D (If you know anyone else who would like this video, please send 'em over!) xx

Do you have any plans to show how you make your pens? I would love to see the process since I'm a proud owner of one. :)
Thanks Cindy! I think I should but I need to explore ways to pattern them that are more simple than making a stack of difficult canes. Maybe with spirals.... Hmmm.... xx

Hi New Subbie here and a clay Virgin. The lovely Cali Black sent me over 🤗x

Hello, is that baking paper around the pencils?
I don't remember but any unmarked paper will be fine.
I'm going to give it a go with air dry clay ... wish me luck
Good luck! Let me know if it works please! xx
it worked well with air drying clay. .. I have recently started using polymer clay and love it 😆
Yay! That's brilliant! xx

Do you have to cover the pencil or is that optional?
I found if I didn't, the paint from the pencil melted and coated the inside of my bead!
how long to bake
Boa tarde linda que produtos são estes gostaria muito de saber ❤🇧🇷
