I’m at 8 months loc’d and I also can’t get over how amazing washing my hair is now. Same as you I just jump in the shower wash and go! It’s surreal to be so free from the steps I usually had to take when I was a loose natural. The difference 8 months in is shocking and I’m so exited to hit my 1 year and beyond. Your hair looks gorgeous!❤
I have microlocs and I've tried spray colour and I had no issues to wash it out... colour wax deposits colour into the locs. So look into getting spray hair colour to try a different look
OMG…How l wish l could travel to get my Locs done in UK, the prices here in the US is ridiculously expensive, l’ve only been locked now for two weeks and, My goodness I wish I’d done this a long time ago, l’m always watching your videos, please keep them coming ❤
Your hair is so beautiful my Nigerian sister, i love microlocs, i've had microlocs on and off since 2016. Am about to start another microlocs journey, i pray i keep this one for a very very long time, if not forever.
I have to convince my loctitian in Abuja to braid my not yet 3 month old MLs. The last time she washed which was 3 days ago, she braided but didn’t band and said the banding wasn’t necessary. I’m kinda unsure but with dense-ish hair, my unraveling may not be as annoying as for lower density hair. It’s still frustrating to have 10-15 unraveling Locs so I’ll keep braining and banding when I wash the hair myself. And I’ll probably see her only during reties so that the interlocking during retightening isn’t too often as I’m worried about messing with scalp or the health of the locs in the long run Thanks for your journey. Always something to learn and see. Your locs are beautiful and your narration is easy and engaging.
I dont braid and band, for the most part however I do still braid and band my babies that still slip. Those ones that will come down when wet, I braid and band.
I completely agree with what you are saying. I am enjoying not having to think about what I'm going to do with my hair. My hair is already done and I am ready to go!😊 And no longer having to braid and band is absolutely beautiful. I so agree. (I am soon to be 19 months with my microlocs and loving it!)
Even as a loose natural dye has ruined my curls so I agree with you on that. I know there are better methods now but I rather not risk it. I’ve been watching your ML videos and I’ve mad my loc appointment! I can’t wait!
Absolutely Beautiful i have been considering it. Microlocs or Sisterlocs. I did a big chop a few times both of my adult kids have locs. My daughter decided to copy her brother but she had some thick curly hair I didn't think would loc but it did. Looking at your hair I have seen others I am totally considering
Yes you are right bleaching will damage the locs I only dyed my locs my natural color because of my greys but I do it once a year with a aminonia free dye I am with you on the styling I only wash & wear them down & do reties every 6 to 8 weeks
The cheapest I’ve found in the USA is 1500 dollars! But, I will be going to cameroon to get them installed for a fraction of the price. However, if you think of the price of flight ticket to get to Africa from the USA, it’s going to bring the price pretty close to doing it in the USA. Like Ifeyinwa I will have 2-3 people doing the locs. So in my book, it all evens out.
I paid 1900 for mine and got extensions and ended up taking the extensions out. I been locd for a little over a year and don't regret anything I did. I love my hair.. even the shorter length. I wake up and go. I love it here!
I am 19 months loc’d and I like the look of color on people’s locs but don’t want to do the work it would take to keep my hair healthy with color. I loc’d my hair to get my time back from caring for loose natural hair and like the easier maintenance. My husband has dry scalp issues too and was told he has dermatitis. He drinks tons of water, watches his sugar intake and twice a day he sprays his scalp and oils it with just oils on his fingertips.
Your locs are just gorgeous 😍 I'm only three weeks in and i must say the braiding and banding to wash my hair is probably my only con to microlocs. Loving the hair freedom though!
Ify , I love your style. American blacks attaches so much importance to love/ hair. I finally locked my hair in Nigeria now we came back for summer holiday. Thank you for the input
Been watching your journey and noticing the scalp issues from beginning. Maybe it’s worth seeing a dermatologist and asking if they recommend nizoral shampoo for psoriasis or some type of dermatitis. I had to use it for a few washes in my microlocs in the beginning and I’m in a better place now. Also, increased my water intake.
Oh I definitely don't have psoriasis or dermatitis. My scalp is not inflamed, itchy, red etc. I've had several locticians work in my hair and they've confirmed that it's dry scalp and very common with locs and should resolve over time which I've noticed. But thank you.
@@Ifeyinwa Thank you I’m so happy I made the switch, they are a little thick to be one month so I’m definitely interested to see what my budding phase looks like
I just started my micro loc journey as well about abweek now sadly on partially relaxed hair. I guess i just didnt have the patience to wait. I have about 4 to 5 inches of new growth. I trimmed my ends and i started the two strand twists micro loc journey. My twists are tiny and under 200 so are my locs considered micro locs? They are quite tiny becaue of the relaxed hair. Im just hoping that they loc like they are supposed to🤞🏽 crossed😊❤❤
Awww don’t you worry, your hair will settle with time. There’s another creator on here called Bindi, I think she had her locs installed on partially relaxed hair so you can check out her journey as well but your hair (and yes they’re considered to be microlocs too 😊) will definitely loc it might just take a bit longer xx
I'm thinking about getting micro loc extensions. Are yours micro loc braids, or micro loc twist? I'm new so don't laugh at me. I just don't know. I love yours, but I like micro braids. 🤷🏾♂️ What kind do u have?

I'm one month loc'd! Inspired by you and your hair. I love my hair but at this point it tends to look frizzy and rough. Your hair is gorgeous 😍
@@lindaa9737 thank you so much 🥰
Beautiful locks!. I combed out traditional locks after 7 years. The hair left was a thin, mostly broken mess. I big chopped it after 1 month.
I'm sorry to hear that!
PLEASE DON'T FORGET TO GIVE THIS VIDEO A THUMB UPS 💜

Yess I am 18 months Locd and had my first hair wash without braiding and banding and it felt GREAT!
Best feeling!!
Been on a similar hair journey..was a loose natural for 10 years. Locd my hair and will be 1 year locked in July...the best hair decision I have made.
So happy for you! 💕
I’ve had my locs for 6 months…still my best hair decision ever especially with a new baby 😊…keep enjoying your locs 🤗

I want to do lock my hair so bad. But the price in the state is a killer the cheapest I’ve found is $900 😮😮!!
Eeesh those US prices sigh

Are microlocs the same as Sister Locs?
I do not recommend colouring locs. Certain colours can alter the texture.
❤
No they’re not, sisterlocs are a brand of microlocs
Oh, that'll be cute when you do am updo. I saw it when you were showing us your middle part and the sides etc! Go you
Thank you so much!
How do you prevent your locs from “marrying” or joining at the roots when you wash?
I haven't experienced this

How did you reduce the dry scalp issue?
I spoke about it in the video 😊
So don’t touch/cut the buds at the end?
No you’re supposed to leave them alone apparently
Oh no! I've been cutting mine! Yikes!
😊
