  • Jonathan Lapierre M.M. ’23, a graduate student in Berklee Valencia’s scoring for film, television, and video games program, composed and recorded music for the piece “Into the Deep” at AIR Lyndhurst studios in London as part of his culminating experience project.
"Celestial Gateway" is fusion of music, drawing, and storytelling that emerged from a world-building passion project. Initially intended as a creative outlet separate from music, Lapierre merged different creative mediums giving shape to this piece musically inspired by cinematic masters like Goldsmith and Horner, whose iconic Alien franchise film scores left a lasting impact on the composer. This piece aims to reflect the profound allure of discovery through the characters' immersion into an alien world, while also signifying Lapierre’s own transformative journey throughout Berklee's M.M. in scoring for film, television, and video games program.
Every year, students in the scoring for film, television, and video games graduate program travel to an industry-leading recording studio in the beginning of the summer semester to record a piece of original music performed by a 50-plus-piece orchestra. After that, they receive a recording of the session, which students will mix and master to present as part of their culminating experience. Past trips have included sessions at the famed London studios AIR Lyndhurst and Abbey Road.
