My daughter has one and I ran it on the carpet track and it definitely is a blast to run and the lipo wakes it up even more. Awesome beginner car or travel basher
I think the 2 biggest let downs for latrax are the axles break and the motor gets really hot. I swapped in hot racing metal axles and a dynamite 6000kv 2in1 esc/motor.
Bought my son a Teton after buying him 4 $60 grave digger r/c cars from target that all broke. Finally was fed up with replacing the entire thing instead of being able to just fix it like the Teton. So happy we invested in getting the hobby grade car as we have fixed a few different parts but it's nice knowing he can bash it hard and not have to throw it in the trash after. Great beginner cars.
I totally agree. I bought my son a slash when he was 7 for that same reason. Thank goodness the parts are available because it's build quality is terrible. It is about 85 percent rpm brand now lol. The best part is that he is 11 now amd we still have it!
@@jeffbryner5355 HAHA. I just bought myself a Slash 4x4 and have only run it through 2 full batteries and have had to replace shock caps, front arms, turnbuckles etc. But that's part of the fun for me. I can't help myself when I start jumping it. I pull the trigger a little harder each time until something snaps.
@@JJJ-014 sounds about right! Replacing parts is not fun haha. Building it is fun but buying replacement parts because they broke is not for.me. Instead of dumping money into upgrades like motors esc's transmitter servo etc your spending money on poor quality parts to keep it running
I bought my two neices the Teton and the Prerunner. The motors burn out quick on them and the servos are absolute trash , but are cool for what they are. Crazy fast for their size too. After like burning out the 5th motor though i bought the two of them TRX4 sports which are far easier to keep running.
My better half loves her Prerunner. It is great for the small course I built in the back yard, only problem we have had so far was when the servo gears went to war with each other. I slapped a metal gear servo in its place and all is well.
@@toejam6941 Easily compared to what nowadays chinese cars costs the same and some can't even survive the jump.... and these starter cars not geared towards retarded adults kicking and hitting them out of the air...
My son Loves his pre runner! His bulkhead and arms were the first repair that he had to do also! Hahaha. We ended up putting RPM arms on it, cuz they are a definite weak point, and after replacing 3 of them, we decided it would be a smart idea to upgrade them, and he hasn’t had any issues since.
The LaTrax Prerunner looked good. I am sorry you didn't get to finish. You were very, very kind when you said "we got a little too excited." We used the LaTrax Rallies with our school club for practice at our meetings. My only criticism is tha Traxxas puts its cheapest radios with the cars and trucks that need the steering travel, especially for novices. Every cheap car or truck coming out of Asia has travel adjustments. Thanks for the quick look.
I have 2 prerunners..love them both....I run the lipos in mine....they're pretty quick...the break wasn't the trucks fault.....hope you can give it a better review....have fun....be safe👍
I bought this same version as well. Only problem I experienced was after a crash into a car wheel it started bogging. Turns out my center bearing went crap. But after that good to go.
Yeah LaTraxx is definitely for the beginners or young ones, but they are definitely a lot better than toy grade models. So for 1st timers they will have so much fun...
Have a prerunner and Teton bulkheads always break. You can get a 2s 2000mah pack in there and lock the battery hold down. Other problem is no slipper clutch, if it gets stuck it will smoke the motor
Maaaaannn!!! I hope that dude paid for the parts at least Mark! That was just wrong. I know he didn’t mean it most likely, but he slam dunked it hard!! 😳. Just as a gentleman courtesy hope he threw you at least a $20 or $40 to get right! Keep producing content Budd! Late. ✌🏽
which lipo would you recommend for this car? I can figure out how to secure it but I can't find a lipo that'll fit in. all the ones I've tried are a hair too wide.
Aluminum bulkheads.... EXPENSIVE. I have not ran my Latrax Teton yet, but have gotten an aluminum center brace, aluminum driveshafts, RPM arms, and Hot Racing 60t steel spur with Latrax's 14t pinion. It came with metal diffs in the box. I shimmed the differentials, both ring and input gears. Used black, grade 3 open gear grease with moly in it, and put that on the spur as well. Just put in a Hobbywing 4500kv motor that goes with the 30a ESC. Waiting on 2s batteries. I hope that's ENOUGH to make it a little more capable. I just can't invest any more into it, or into any of my RC's till next year.
I don’t recommend these, because they are very expensive (for their performances) and sometimes break easily. I definetely recommend one of the Wltoys cars.
Thinking about beginners, I think about local support. I've had to wait weeks for parts for the wltoys, but can get most latrax parts in a couple days online (US). I have both the Teton and wltoys 144001 small buggy and love them both!
Traxxas needs to have there basic RTR come with wall chargers , it’s 2022 for crying out loud , they cost 15 cents at most in the bulk they buy them for and stop trying to nickel and dime first time RC users for having to buy the adapter
My Teton bulkhead, front diff and servo all dead after 2 batteries and a couple rolls. Sold it. Drove well like you said but not impressed otherwise. Great video 👍👌
In all fairness, those jumps are WAY too big for that scale of RC. People whine about them breaking and being cheap. Well, ya their cheap- super cheap. That's the point! If not sailing them over huge jumps and driving reckless. Great bang for the buck. For the price of 1 decent RC, you buy two. And race a buddy.😁 On a small-scale off-road RC track these handle great when tuned. Again, when running a 1/18 on jumps mage for 1/10 & 1/8 RC's your going to break stuff on crashes.
Liked the game of swat the car, looked pretty fun. You put the commercial right before you took off on that double so just really bad commercial placement mark! 😂 😆
I love how you show the TRD. You should of bought a Chevy. You do now the ls engine is better then th 2jz right? There is more ls swaps then 2jz's as well
My son saved his money for months to buy this truck, what a P.O.S!! Within the first 5 min the front suspension a arm broke, no jumping, just driving around on flat ground. Bought the rpm upgrade parts and installed, spur gear broke, bought new parts, motor seized up, warranty on motor, front axels snapped, upgraded to aluminum performance parts, new motor seized, …… all with less than 2 hrs total run time. Traxxas customer service is totally useless and unwilling to help. We haven’t ever been able to run a complete battery though this thing without it breaking!
Then dont watch it simple. Also commenting on something you dont think is worth your time either is stupidity, but you still did it. Dumbass 😂 you ended up watching the video and spending more of your time after to leave a comment about how its not worth watching. That makes zero sense 💀 If you truly believed its not worth your time you would have been gone 😂

I think a sleeper latrax would be a dope concept, a big motor big lipos fat tires and beat cocky drag slashes with it!

I was think about getting one of these, is it worth it or is it junk?
Idk, the prerunner I bought my 7 year old has been super durable. I put a micro sidewinder brushless system on 3s in it, and its hilariously fast
Mines super durable too. I've had mine since I was 12 and im currently 17. Its on its third motor
Very cool, especially for a new person or like you said a younger kid as a first rc car. 👍

So I put the tires that come on the v2 maxx on my original maxx man it made the driving and handling so much better
I broke my front right arm twice in a week on race mode, should I keep getting plastic or should I get the aluminum ones off Amazon?
There is a venom lipo I run is my daughter's 1/18 Teton and it really wakes them up and yes the battery bar will still work with that lipo
Got a link. My son and I have been running his Prerunner for a few months and I wanna get a Lipo but cant decide what works.

If you have a good budget get the slash 4x4 and upgrade the gears to metal gears

Is there a brushless motor or a brush motor
i like my prerunner had it 5 yrs i race it on carpet indoors in box stock class

Some good oil filled shocks and it'll be a great car.
