First time ever? Welcome aboard. For me its been years since I played. I played on Sony's servers, tested out SWGEmu a few years back, and now I'm here on Legends. I was playing DCUO over a month ago and started to miss this game.
Yo when I saw this at first like oh " 5 mistakes newbs make" but when I saw STAR WARS GALAXIES I was riddled with confusion. People play this game in 2021??!?! sign me the fuck up! :o
Quite late to the party, but as someone who always liked to experiment with the class options: Don't be afraid of straying from any meta build, if the meta is less fun to you. Almost all content can be completed even with a suboptimal character build (even the few instances, as long as you get a well coordinated group). And there are no real repercussions for speccing "wrong", because you can reset your expertise points and switch your entire profession at the profession counselor. First time is free (go tell all your friends!)
Here is something I learned since my lost post"s" lol Combat droids! Something no one ever told me and i never thought about using leveling up until I started a Medic and was having trouble doing a few legacy quest solo. At level 5, you can use a level 10 combat droid. YOu can call a droid up to 5 levels above your level and That's a mass amount of extra DPS for any class. I bought a level 10 combat droid for like 4k. it lasted me until I hit level 21 and I upgraded. It will also help take down nests/bases faster when you do term missions
No idea if you’re still kicking around to read this, but do you reckon a well spec’d character with an upgraded combat droid would be enough to get through the DW bunker to craft some good old mando gear? 😂
last post, I swear LOL My tip for people wanting to jump right in and get moving fast. level up an Entertainer to 90 and change spec to a Combat entertainer. It's sort of like a tka from pre-NGE. Then start the legacy quest "BUT" when you are done doing a quest don't accept the reward/exp/credits " either ESC or hit the X out" Keep doing that and when you are done with the legacy quest you can change professions to a combat profession, then accept all of them. you can even do some Mustafar quest too, I solo all the quest that leads to the Lava Skiff and got it as an ENT combat lol
My newb mistake 18 years ago was starting on Rori, way to high level for new players. Only got to Naboo cause a Wookie player gave me like 2000 credits to get off the planet.
As a returning veteran I made a huge mistake in NOT re-studying all the combat classes and thinking "I remember them just fine". I made some decisions that wasted a lot of time and experience, and resulted in a very suboptimal character. Do some research when you have some time!
Boosts are only good if you're already familiar and comfortable with the glass you're boosting. Beyond that, they should never be used (IMO) Great video mate!
I use to ask on discord for help on some stuff and got a lot of helpful replies and advice but now there is mostly sarcastic unhelpful a-holes not helping when they reply hell I remember his one guy was basically roasting a newbie legitimately asking for help with something and an admin stepped in told them to knock it off or they’d be temporary banned and than helped the newbie out
This game helped me learn how to deal with people and was great fun learning as a youngster until its demise! Your content is great and you with others help keep it alive. The tutorials are top notch and concise especially for someone like me who is a "vet" but still never understood a lot of the main game. I don't mind the NGE so long as we have ships to fly and all the extra content. Thank you buddy ^^
i agree with you 100% even til today, i play DCUO, sometimes swtor...... bloodfin is my emu server, but anytime i run into a issue in dcuo or any other online game, something that is missing, or a question or problem with something, i think of swg, and how it helped me with online games, it was a gold standard of learning how to play online games, i played socom 2 and tony haw underground online on ps2 before i made my own PC for SWG , and began my journey that is a very dim fire, but... the spark is still there for me because of this game.
I started with the Legends server. Haven't done much. However, I wont to do more. Odd how much of the game I forgot in the last 10 years. I really just wanna do the Anakin Skywalker StarFighter quest. My fav ship in the game.
So glad I’m able to play to this day. I’m on city of heroes and starwars galaxies. Thank you emulators ❤️❤️ I heard city of heroes is making a return 🔥🔥🔥
Depending on which server you play and what is your future plan, you can.... 1. Do not ask for help. Take hunting missions, if you know what animals attack ones or at most in twos, you can make money. 2. Playing on EiF server, you need no buffs for hunting missions. 3. If you like crafting, make a second character and raise your surveying to max asap. 4. Do not join a guild, remain a freelancer. You can make money, craft, etc, you can do it all alone, it's what i was doing back in vanilla :)
Soon as you land on tat drop 500 credits and get to a pilot trainer and get a ship and grind a few boxes to get credits and a feal for the game. Then sell almost everything you loot. Alternately do legacy and space build your ui in space and ground. Buy yes ultimately this is not a single player game
Literally no reason to boost off the bat, I mean you can and run through the main quest story that way if you'd like, or just learn that way, It's not dreadful. But IDK. Read the chat text, get immersed, interact with everyone you come across in buildings lmao. Have fun, It's star wars and it's a gem of a game if you can figure out the "shift to walk, slow drive you're vehicle" mechanic for immersion!
Using your instant 90 token on your first character on the first week is bad. Then having to make another character so you can actually fight stuff and get money and resources, because now you're stuck with a level 90 penniless jedi with a low level lightsaber. I've since solved this, but woulda been nice to think first. lol
In fact I would go as far as to say they should remove the token. Sure some people may use it to make a second trader or something though... I kinda wish I saved my token for that reason. Leveling traders is boring as watching flies mating. I already have a 90 structures trader but I want to make clothes on the new one. I like to look nice when I'm not killing things.
I wouldn't say remove the token - but maybe have a message or something that goes along with it advising new players it's really meant for returning vets. I can't think of any games where boosting is a good idea if you haven't played before. Of course, they offer it via cash shops in a lot of games now - I wonder if it's sometimes counter productive though - leading people into and endgame for which they're ill prepared for the sake of money :(
@@Tall_Order Just make another account and use the token on the new account to make a trader and boost him to level 90. Just make sure you use a VPN though or they'll ban you for multiple accounts, they're nazis about it.
@@xXSgtWolfXx Unfortunately the legends server has a rule against having more than 1 account. They'll ban it. And they can detect VPNs because your IP address keeps changing and its logged on their end. And yeah it stinks. You can only have 5 characters, and only 3 logged in at once. I know this to to keep the load down on the servers, but still...
I juts asked this on another video again. I just started playing again after 20 years. I keep getting killed by troopers and my ship needs repaired. I cant do anything but rage quit. I really wanna play
2:54 agree the boost can cause problems for you, I used mine on a crafter. Being new to a server helps to have a max-level crafter. you can make easy money selling stuff you mine. leave crafter afk mining overnight and sell the next day. I made a few million just doing that selling sought-after steel cheaper than what everyone else was selling it for. Plus you can sell the loot of your combat toon. and junk loot stacks are still being bought.
Dont be descouraged! You can still find a a guild that will accept you. Dont listen to the people who say you shouldnt play what you like. And we all know Jedis are much better than commandos for a lot of stuff anyway. Balanced groups are the way to go.
These groups are just looking to speed run through the heroics to get the maximum tokens in the shortest space of time. Best to look for a casual guild/group to run with as Jedi can easily get through heroics
The "meta" team comp for Heroics is usually 4x Mando, Spy, Smuggler, Medic, Officer. But honestly, you can clear Heroics with just about anything, so I don't understand why some people refuse take Jedi. I've ran my heavily undergeared Combat Ent toon through Heroics before now and it's been a doddle. My advice, for anyone insisting on waving a glowstick around instead of a trusty blaster, is to roll an LSJ, which fits the tank role. More desired than DSJ for Heroics, and is pretty much a must-have in Avatar Platform and Kiz/Sin groups, so while not as sought after in Heroics, it's still a viable PvE profession to choose.
@@CakeorDeath1989 Well my LSJ has retreated into his bunker, Disconnected himself from the force and how playing Mafia instead, Thank you for your reply much appreciated.
I just want anyone who’s reading these comments to know that, for new players, especially coming from a World of Warcraft experience, wanting something different but also who loves Star Wars, my choice was Star Wars restoration, it’s hard to find good coverage on UA-cam about this and people often get sucked into going to the population such as legends having 1200 players or something like that but 500 of bots. And so forth. Now everybody on Star Wars restoration is a player, but also, you get to experience something new with the combat professions, rather than choosing a class at the beginning of the game, which limits your opportunities of character development. If you wanna play Star Wars Galaxy legends you may as well be playing World of Warcraft because it’s missing so much that restoration has on offer. Also, if you are a new player, you might want to stay clear from the nostalgic EMU, that’s this is more for the players who did play when the game was live from the very start, and the controls that we are used to playing in modern MMO‘s. You can’t really do that with the EMU version since the conflicts with the chat. Regarding the SAdW keys. Also restorations has a client which allows you to install the game through the client which is quite user-friendly and at the same time it’s the original code, the developer use. The actual original code from the program is who wrote this game, 20 years ago. They didn’t try to emulate how they thought the game played and programmed it in as much memory as they could to how it was played. It’s literally the original code. I can’t stress this game to you enough if you love Star Wars. And if you have a good appreciation for depth. Even just sci-fi fantasy. Even if you haven’t watched any of the movies or read any of the comic books or read any of the books this is a good introduction into Star Wars. If not the best introduction into Star Wars, it’s a whole different perspective. It’s all about Jedi. if you actually knew the law you’d realise that Jedi aren’t actually the coolest anyway, regarding the Jedi Council, but Jedi is still pretty cool, and Sith is even cool, but that’s not the main focus. The main focus is the Star Wars galaxies universe, which these programs literally programmed all the 3-D models that you could ever imagine in Star Wars of the Darth Vader era. And it’s all in the game in 3-D. All of that work has been preserved and is there. The only reason why people perhaps stop playing is because not only what Warcraft came out in 2004, but the servers had been shut down by Sony. so there was no way to continue playing this game. And some of the adjustments made, such as the NGE Featured in SWG legends is what really became the downfall of the game, as well as the Jedi because everybody wanted to be a Jedi had a complain so before they shut the game down, they met it really easy for everybody to get to become a Jedi then everyone was a Jedi entirety of the gameplay was gone. in restoration, it simply this you just play the game, and if you become a Jedi, you become a Jedi, you just have to play the game, and if you don’t play the game for all the game that it is, then you’re less likely going to ever become a Jedi which it doesn’t really matter as that’s not the main focus. It’s just cool if you do but it’s not the main focus. Totally different mentality to Warcraft, where people are always trying to get the best of the best gear, and all that stuff. It’s not that at all. It’s the full world of Star Wars based on the original code which is restoration.
I am a new player, I returned to World of Warcraft after 20 years to play turtle wow, and by level 40 turtle wow SWG: Restoration has now become the #1. Like all of the new MMO‘s in 2024 or 2023 anything post 2020. I’ve just not been able to really hold peoples attention because there’s no real depth to any of those games, And they destroy the games before they even release them. SWG: RESTORATION is the 2024 pick. AAA titles in 2024 do not compare to the programmers of 2000’s. Perhaps graphically they do, but gameplay and depth, is non existent in newer games. The only game that is progressing in 2024, are flight simulators and perhaps GTA, some other zombie ones too, the rest are trash, aimed at trash.
>Join the first guild that invites you. For me it was Nemesis. They do what I call 'machine-gun recruiting". Every single one of my alts got invited by someone while I walk to or from the mos eisley spaceport. It is a friendly guild though, so I'm not complaining. It's good to join because its active. And you need people to socialize with. Thats why I don't play on Basilisk anymore. I love Pre-CU, but Basilisk feels dead. Then again so does Empire in Flames and all the other offshoots of SWGEmu. Almost everyone is on Legends.
I wouldn't object to an email message all about the guild (which is literally spam I guess!) But the blind invite always worries me. It seems like the people aren't too fussed about who joins in that case. But if it works for Nemesis I'm glad!
What's the point of a guild that just lets anyone in? It's not even a guild at that point. A guild is supposed to be a group of like minded people with similar in-game interests. Nemesis is dumb. They should be banned for spamming everyone invites. I declined one of their guild invites and this woman walked away saying "I guess RP guilds aren't for everyone :)" after seeing that I had an RP tag on my character, trying to be snarky or make me regret turning down the invite. Yet she didn't know I had been invited on another alt, I joined the guild to see what it was about and nobody does any roleplaying at all. Anyways, my point is, that guild is retarded.
@@xXSgtWolfXx At least it provides an active chat channel. I tried using all the built in chat channels and nobody ever uses them. And yeah when I come out of the Starport i always make a mad dash to get past them. My jedi uses force run every time. lol
Hi everyone! I am new to the channel and played SWG long ago. I am checking out different servers and want to play on one that’s pre-cu with JTL expansion for my personal preference. Love the channel and the community!
I wish SWGEmu's Basilisk server had JTL enabled. All these years and it hasn't done so... They should at least give us a yacht for free travel... I realize its a small crew working on that emulator but still. All I want is the yacht.
@@Ironhand-rt8gl I tried most of them. Seems Legends has the largest population. I kinda liked Empire in Flames and Sunrunner II because they had more playable races. But still it was like a ghost town in mos eisley on both.
I'm having an issue getting Galaxies to recognize my graphics card. I'm using a Nvidia RTX 3080. I can hear sound and music playing but whenever I click on the program (it launches minimized) I can briefly see the window expand over my desktop and then it disappears. I tried using the Nvidia 2080 Super and then I double checked drivers for both cards. What the heck am I doing wrong? I've never played Galaxies and I don't want to miss out on it while I got a chance. Is there any way I can set the resolution without using the menu from the game itself?
In the SWG folder on your computer click on gameclientsetup. You can change some of the setting without even launching the game. Maybe try just switching to windowed mode. Also make sure the res is not higher then the monitor your playing the game on, that could cause whats happening to you. Running a rtx 3070 fine with the game.
does it to me every once in a while with an amd r9 200 series. staff is absolutely no help they just tell you to launch in admin and launch in borderless window mode
Hey Napyet do you have any favorite guilds on Legends? I'm more of a casual player and I'm mostly in it for soft-roleplaying (character building and immersion) but I haven't found the right people for me really and I find myself playing a lot less without people to mesh with
@Darth Vatik From what I've seen it seems to be more for events and active-roleplaying than guild recruiting and I've been unable to really find a steady group of people to play with casually without it being too hardcore/meta-gamingesque Could just be my luck so far with guilds though
@Darth Vatik Same, that's a good way to put it. More of a state of mind, like crafting my character's name/background to fit well in the verse, having my characters know each other, using weapons/ships that make sense for the character's lore, etc. All without having to actively roleplay (although I can find that fun too)
There are a plethora of communities for RP things :) The Imperials have quite a few going things these day. Mos Vanta on Tatooine is a good place with stories and things happening daily. There are some guilds that frequent it but a lot are just people from other guilds that just come together for it.
SWG:R is the better choice, no classes, fully customised character development. You be you, not having to be limited to a few classes. It has a regular population, and there’s always room for more and it’s not going anywhere. I can’t talk it up enough I wish I knew how to.
It is an mmo, so that means some content you need to do with a group. yet there's so much you can do on your own. Still, even more so if you're into inversive gameplay rather than min-maxing. Try it out and see if you like it.

Maybe I went a bit over the top, but she just got a place, Star Wars galaxies restoration. don’t believe the hype about legends. It’s just beautiful.
Hey bro just started watching these. Do you still play? I’m in legend’s as well and made a crafter! A lot of fun but new to all this.
My jedi uses force run every time. lol
Very competently vid. Thanks. 🖖🏻
Hi everyone! I am new to the channel and played SWG long ago. I am checking out different servers and want to play on one that’s pre-cu with JTL expansion for my personal preference. Love the channel and the community!
Swgemu is pre cu no jtl. Restoration 3 is cu with jtl. Legends is nge with jtl and also the best overall server imo. Gl have fun!
@@officialmonkeybusiness2602 I very much appreciate you!
I wish SWGEmu's Basilisk server had JTL enabled. All these years and it hasn't done so... They should at least give us a yacht for free travel... I realize its a small crew working on that emulator but still. All I want is the yacht.
@@Tall_Order Awakening looks very good for what I want in the game but there again no JTL. I will try them all knowing my love for the game:)
@@Ironhand-rt8gl I tried most of them. Seems Legends has the largest population. I kinda liked Empire in Flames and Sunrunner II because they had more playable races. But still it was like a ghost town in mos eisley on both.
2:38 that’s a different map than the one I have. 🤔
Rtx3080 is not strong enough for this :p
Hey Napyet do you have any favorite guilds on Legends? I'm more of a casual player and I'm mostly in it for soft-roleplaying (character building and immersion) but I haven't found the right people for me really and I find myself playing a lot less without people to mesh with
@Darth Vatik From what I've seen it seems to be more for events and active-roleplaying than guild recruiting and I've been unable to really find a steady group of people to play with casually without it being too hardcore/meta-gamingesque
Could just be my luck so far with guilds though
@Darth Vatik Same, that's a good way to put it. More of a state of mind, like crafting my character's name/background to fit well in the verse, having my characters know each other, using weapons/ships that make sense for the character's lore, etc.
All without having to actively roleplay (although I can find that fun too)
What's your guild DV? They're an awesome bunch of folks I've grouped with many times - is it Ghetto Topia?
There are a plethora of communities for RP things :) The Imperials have quite a few going things these day. Mos Vanta on Tatooine is a good place with stories and things happening daily. There are some guilds that frequent it but a lot are just people from other guilds that just come together for it.
SWG:R is the better choice, no classes, fully customised character development. You be you, not having to be limited to a few classes. It has a regular population, and there’s always room for more and it’s not going anywhere. I can’t talk it up enough I wish I knew how to.
Jesus imagine having enough friends playing to party up xD
is there a single-player mode???
It is an mmo, so that means some content you need to do with a group. yet there's so much you can do on your own. Still, even more so if you're into inversive gameplay rather than min-maxing. Try it out and see if you like it.
i want my first character to be a storm trooper
people "help" by giving you as vague and useless an answer as they possibly can lmao
No. 1 Playing on the Bloodfin server, No. 2 Playing on the Legends server.
What would you recommend?
I would always recommend having a toon afk farming, passive income and will get you quite a bit of money, enough for buying 35s in a week I think
How do you get starting with afk farming?
I need some friends in legends, anybody looking for a old vet to help and play with?
I’d be interested! I’m waiting on a replacement copy of the game.
Are you on the Legends server?
Im on legends, just made ace and now on the last part of legacies quest line so hope to hit 90 soon
LOVE YOUR VIDEOS KEEP DOING THEM, i would but i have no integrity anymore ,im a drummer, that doesnt drum that much anymore, a professional musician to lazy do to a heroin addiction, just doesnt feel like doing anything i use to as much, DO NOT BECOME LIKE ME, DO NOT TAKE OPIATES or any drugs, they suck and will take everything away from u, not physically only. but mentally. and socially.
I accidently made my Jedi lvl 90 because I didn't read the notice that they sent me about the lvl jump
Really only crafters are a pain to level so it's not the end of the world
First noob mistake, is not choosing SWGR in 2024, and playing SWG, before 2024.
Bmp
