I agree, nearly all the bands from our generation that could fill stadiums have aged out and there's not really anyone to replace them. Even a lot of the kids are listening to stuff from 20 or 30 years ago. Just listened to lime cordiale "Colin". Good stuff - I'm gonna check out more of their stuff 👍🏼
Today I checked the UK top40 for the first time is like 30 years, in the top 20 there are 2 British acts, no bands apart frpm a very old Linkin Park. The UK is supposed to be a leader in pop music isn't it?
Up until the 90s, there was something for everyone in the charts, young and old, now it's crap American or gangster music, I think with alot of pubs closing there is no where for them to practice, or get a gig, people are frightened to go out now
Exactly, I love country and western, soul, reggae etc... because i grew up with it on the radio and i used to hear it coming out of peoples houses, now you don't hear it anywhere.
It's because it's so hard to get started, all the small music venues have either closed down or hosting tribute acts. Or people's expectations are that they can go on stage for two or three songs like on x factor and the voice and think they have an 'act'.
Unfortunately our country has been infiltrated with utter shite music, I call it “rap crap” For my decent supply of music I don’t listen to the mainstream crap being pumped out nowadays. You’re right, gone are the days of hearing great music being played out perhaps in summer.

Remember, we shake our heads in confusion, frustration & ageism. Remember, we are nostalgic for what has passed /is passing and what is being ushered-in: headphone listening; polite gig attendances; lack of inspiration /lack of Social science taught in secondary "feducation". Technology has a part but it's part should "democratise" the inspiration processes of making music. Dance music exemplifies this production ..but it ain't everyone's cuppa T. I were in a band at age of 17, (1987) and we slavishly listened /researched bands that went before to learn our identity. Identity "politics" steals the singular for the communial and alas, waters-down the Scene (as it was). This is the modern world
I haven't listened to mainstream music for over a decade. I make my own now and produce music I'd like to listen to and it's mostly 90's style. You probably wouldn't like it Boom Boom 🤣❤

From what I've heard of most modern music, you can keep it!! I don't like what passes as chart music anymore. I listen to rock and heavy metal.
