Great! Very brave to react to Moonsorrow. They are such epic band and every time I listen them, I get new details from their music. You really should check more of them!
This band right here holds the dearest place in my heart. They've carried me over some dark times. Their themes are a lot about the apocalypse, death, disease and finnish pagan stuff, but somehow it really feels like healing for me.
If you ever go for more (on your own or as a reaction), I suggest trying out Jotunheim, Pimeä and Ruttolehto.

I had forgotten how much i like their sound! It's interesting how well it works to have the melodies sort of echoing behind all the grit and screaming...
Moonsorrow puts into their music the struggle of Finns throughout history. It's both exhausting and beautiful.
Oh and there are so many amazing Finnish bands! Children of Bodom, Kalmah, HIM, Ensiferum, Wintersun..just to name a few

Great song. And yes lyrics are kind of "hopeful" on a disastrous situation. They are trying to find a way to cope.
I honestly love your reactions because you express how I've felt about them for 20 years but it's your first listen. "theyre doing everything right" yeah Moonsorrow is fucking nuts and they craft long emotional experiences, or at least something more than just a song, to me. They're the only band i have tattooed on my body. Shit is actual magic.
I don't usually describe bands as "special" really but Moonsorrow literally changed how i listen to music. They're such an exception to every genre and mean the god damn world to me.
Man they have a lot of epic songs. I'll hit you with another one soon that could also be considered their masterpiece. Really glad you enjoyed this, was slightly nervous about recommending it considering the length but since I heard you say you like journeys through songs I figured it would be a safe reaction

The album this is from is easily in my top 10 albums of all time.
Great album, but for me they have better. My favorites are Verisäkeet and Jumalten Aika. Verisäkeet is easily my all time number 1, by any band.
