Man, your tutorials are amazing. I've been using these effects without really knowing what the hell I was doing. I'll rework my tones based on your videos. Thx!
Leon, what you´re doing with mod delay is a flanger effect, since repetition gets kind of "out of tune". If you put delay time to like 20 - 30 ms that´s it.
Indeed! And being a total beginner with all this, these kind of videos come in very handy. I hope you keep up the good work for all of us out here to enjoy!
Nice video man :) It was good to see some focus on the EQ for delay, the AX8 is so powerful for getting the sweet spot in a mix and so many people don't dig around there....
Hey Leon, I'm a little late to the party, since I just got an AX8 some days ago. Your videos really help a lot!! Something I like doing (also with non AX8 Delays) is to put an expression pedal on the effect level of the delay, so I can play around with the delay. A problem that hasn't come up with other delays, is that the ax8 seems to remember what was played BEFORE the delay is switched on. But often I want to use this set up as a freezer. So I turn up the effect level while holding the note. Problem is that the delay remembers the attack from before. Can you think of a way to change that?
Could you please explain and video how the functions "Hold" and "Repeat hold" work? Is it at latch mode? I love this repeat hold function on my DD20 much. I dont wanna miss it.
Can't thank you enough for your awesome and detailed tutorials man! Could you consider making a similar detailed video about Reverb block comparing it to the different reverbs in Strymon big sky as well mate? That would be dynamite!! Thanks a lot again :) 👍
Thank You Leon! Really great info. I would like to see some with the flanger and phase 90. Difficult to nail the VH classic MXR stuff. Also Klon, and Schaffer Replica. Keep doing what you do 🙏
Great video, Leon! Can you make a similar one about the pitch block, please? Maybe you can also cover in it the +/-1 semitone pitch bend with expression pedal simulating the gentle tremolo arm work on chords, can't wait to hear that one :)
Hey Leon waz'up, Can I please ask you a couple of things. 1. I'm not having the "stereo" effect on my delays (ping pong, stereo etc). I'm hearing everything on "ceneter". I'm using both of ax8's outputs into my scarlett 2i2 with my direct monitor "on". Can you help? 2. Is there any sheet of what delays are the ax8 delays based on? (there are for amps and drives) Thanks for your time man, cheers
Fractal company doesn´t explain nothing, i spend almost $2845 us dlls in my Fractal Axe Fx II unit, spend a lot of time reading the manual and this is the real information, not like the "manual" thank you Leon!!!
@@LeonTodd Thank you again! Can you explain me if its possible to make a recording panning the signal and in one channel use reverb and in other delay?
General question... I am used to having effects either Infront of the pre amp or in the effects loop. I have noticed that on the ax8 patches that most effects are put before the amp or after the cab block. Why is this? Why not in between the amp and the cab?
It mirrors the way these effects would be used in a recording studio; mic an amp with pedals in the front end and then apply time based effects "in the mix", which also allows you to add stereo delays to a simple mono amp/cab setup. You can run the cab at the end of the chain but if you're using any stereo effects you'll need to run a stereo cab last to preserve the stereo image.

Awesome to hear
Leon, dude your videos on the AX8 have been a God send for me. ( Newbie)..

wow, great tutorial! I did not know that with just a delay block it could sound so good!
Great video once again, thanks a million! Really lowers the barrier to start tweaking with stuff when you have some idea what each knob does.
It's the best and worst part of having so many options isn't it? infinite tweakability is great but you need to know where to start :)

I get a lot of enjoyment from this unit so it only seems fair to pay it forward :)
Thanks Leon, I really Love the Awesome Sounds that you get out of those Delays !!!

It's crazy how much versatility we have. Using AX8 edit rather than menu surfing like on rack delays is just joy too :)
That was a very Petrucci clean you had going at the end. Awesome as always!
I love his early clean tones. JP = goals.

Excellent video, wouldn't mind seeing more of these for other effects. Thanks!
I plan on it. Anything in particular you would like to see?
I'm mostly interested in the Comp and Reverb blocks. Would also be great to hear how you match amps with cabs.

Much appreciated. i want to do a section on modulation as I've overlooked that in the past.

Thank you! This was very very helpful. Can you share your favorite Delay blocks with me? I have AX8 also.

I really need to look into one of these......
It's an incredible tool, however you choose to use it your rig.
Gracias¡¡¡¡
How can I get that on my ax8
Leon, for the Delay in Ping Pong, Do you connect two cables on the sound card or a stereo cable?
Well explained. Nice!
so a mono cab = stereo out...?

If you've got any questions hit me up man. They're worth the learning curve.

Thanks, does the ax8 have reverse delay??
yes indeed
infamous?
Sweeet
Thanks for doing these!

Another suggestion for future videos like this... Maybe save some blocks?
Will do. In the meantime, search :Simeon Harris blocks" and get all of those; 90% of what I'm using I learnt there.
