I couldn’t believe it when I heard that Tyranitar dropped to RU in Gen 9. I’m not a competitive player but I do know that Ttar was in OU for like the longest time
it's been in every gen except gen 9
The reason it's in RU now because its typing leaves it vulnearable to many fast fighting type Pokemon and its speed stat prevents it from outspeeding many Pokemon and from setting up dragon dance.
@@definitelyadragon1644Then just Tera away the typing.
@MayHugger That's another reason why it fell. It relies too much on Tera, when something requires a Tera to be effective (of which it's not) then it's not very good. Because then you wasted your Tera on something useless when you could Tera something more useful.
@@MayHuggerIt also is outclassed by Garganacl.
You know power creep is becoming insane when the 6 of the first 7 pseudo legendaries aren’t OU material.
Wtf is ou
And then there’s Dragonite. Living its best life.
@@reggielacey2235 Ou is over used, it’s for competitive, ru is rarely used uu is underused and nu is never used
@@reggielacey2235OU stands for “Overused” which is a Tier im competetive pokemon. Basically, a pokemon’s strength is determined by how much it’s used (among other things).
@@reggielacey2235
OU = Top-Tier
UU = High-Tier
RU = Mid-Tier
NU = Low-Tier
PU = Bottom-Tier
ZU = Beyond Repair
Honestly I’m kind of sad to see lucario so high up on the list since lucario has been a bad ass Pokémon since the start of it’s existence
It's not bad at all
@@reggielacey2235UU doesn't mean bad
@@turboshazed7370Is it UU on SV Competitive?
Still used in doubles, he never really fell off tbh, just gotta have the right setup for him
Nerfs and buffs are always an interesting topic in video games. A favorite nerfed character might become super good in the future with the constant evolution of in game mechanics.
Honorable Mention: Walrein
It was one of the best hail Pokémon in Gens 4 and 5 because weather effects were permanent. As of Gen 6, weather effects only last 5 turns. Thus, Walrein isn’t as much of a powerhouse since. It’s still a good Pokémon imo.
@@icanthinkofanameno wonder it ended up on the top 10 weakest Ice types. I wonder if it’s still there post Gen 9.
@@icanthinkofaname😢
@@icanthinkofaname😮 what??
As a big fan of Vaporeon, it losing Toxic by the time I came back to Pokemon in Gen 8 was tragic. :~
The Teal Mask got my hopes up when I saw Toxic back as a TM, but they still said no. :(
At least Umbreon got it back.
It did get Scald and Flip Turn tho
Even when Alomomola is better with Regenerator
Vaporeon losing toxic just improves its breedability to be fair.
The fact that gamefreak simply can't give snorlax slack off, is unfuriating.
If they did, nobody would run Rest on Snorax and resting is his identity
@@umwha Irrelevant, it needs instant recovery, and slack off makes sense.
@@et34t34fdf ig they thought Slack off Snorlax would be too op
Mimikyu is still kinda used in VGC. It has a niche where it's a Trick Room user that isn't affected by Fake Out so it still works at times.
Hydreigon, my boi, was clocked thanks to the addition of a pink dog cat fox thing.
Not just Sylveon, but every other Fairy-Type in general. Dark/Dragon, Dark/Fighting and Dragon/Fighting are all nerfed and made x4 weak to Fairy. If they made Ghost weak to Fairy, then the type combinations of Fighting/Ghost, Ghost/Dragon and Ghost/Dark also being x4 weak to Fairy. With Ghost/Dark already been weak to Fairy since Gen 6, and if the Ghost typing is weak to Fairy, this will only make it even worse for Sableye (both in its regular and Mega forms) and Spiritomb and any Ghost/Dark-Types coming after them.
I'm amazed that Alakazam till this day can still hold its own despite the physical special split unlike Sceptile.
Getting dazzling gleam to hit dark types and it’s mega helped a lot
@@allistertheantihero9289Magic Guard too
Mimikyu was a great dynamax sweeper early on in gen 8, and a meta threat.
Mannnnn I was looking for a reason to
Power my 2ds or my OG DS and watching you been following for a year and these video of best team and just about every video you put out gives me that spark keep up the good work Mystic🙌🏼
I’ll still never forgive Gamefreak for taking away Gengar’s levitate
Same
Expecting Starmie to be on this list if Metagross has made it. OU for 6 generations, now NU.
With all this power creep (even in the damn trading card game) i left pokemon behind but i still like this channel!
Don’t think we wouldn’t notice that OG sonic the hedgehog background music, because we did 🎉
Vaporeon is RU tier now which is above NU so it’s better right now in gen 9 compared to 8
What does that even m3an
Surprised Talonflame isn’t on the list
It hurts that my two literal favorite Pokemon period are on this list (Mew and Lucario), but I still will use them I was never into competitive personally anyway lol
Same they’re both my favorite but I love using them too much. I never was that much into competitive play either so no major loss there either.
I automatically thought "Starmie" upon hearing Metropolis Zone music. I think those explosive starfish (not Starmie; play Sonic 2 and you'll understand) have left a lasting impact on me.
Starmie was more deserving of a spot than Tauros or Metagross. 6 gens in OU and yet it’s now in NU.
I feel bad for these Pokémon that lost their moments in spotlights. 😢
Talonflame definitely should have at least been mentioned.
greninja fell off in the scarlet and violet games
“Look How They Massacred My Boy”
It was very frail but proteen helped it to be a surprise threat that make mix it up with different type coverage while giving it stab
@@daltonoakleyjr391 And now they nerfed Protean.
@@nickdentoom1173 and whatever Cinderance’s ability is . Like imagine being assign a water type ; and your move pool is diverse enough that you can utilize proteen at its fullest . And you switch up the move set with the unlimited tms and move tutor options
If Mew’s stats doubled every time it faced a Mewtwo similar to the event, it would be in Ubers.
Lucario was my team mascot in gen 8 n it sucks to say he can’t hold his weight
staraptor with choice scarf its still great. with the damage that it takes from its own moves it cant be hit too, but the damage that it can do because of reckless its crazy
Healing moves also got nerfed in gen 9, which is another reason why Chansey and Blissey fell.
Keep up the great work and videos
Hello mystic umbreon my favorite Pokémon is Ariel my level 15 female Popplio
That name fits so well actually.
Please upload your ranking updates on the Gym Leaders, Elite Four, and Champions! The Gen IX Expansion Pass is available now and I’m pretty sure you finished reviewing them, right?
Honorable mention should be *Talonflame*, when gen 7 nerfed *gale wings* ability. Gen 6 brave bird or flare blitz everything with a choice band.
Mimikyu was viable in vgc regulation a and b as a trick room setter that walled dondozo with curse or tera fairy curse to set up and sweep under trick room.
big daddy metagross learns both thunder punch and ice punch as well as rock slide to super effective hit mandibuzz
Those are all a mid 75 BP (and non-STAB too) when Mandibuzz is bulky as hell
If Metagross still had it's Mega Evolution, like so many other Pokemon that needed them, it would still be viable in OU.
Like I don’t understand why megas couldn’t just stay
Staraptor destroys RU tho to be fair. Very fun mon to use
I don’t know anything about all these tiers but I’m watching regardless.
Singles tier-list basically:
OU = top-tier
UU = high-tier
RU = mid-tier
NU = low-tier
PU = bottom-tier
ZU/Untitled = unviable
Mew will be back. Lack of recovery is bad, but I'm sure that recovery will come back with one of the DLC's coming out.
But no mention of Talonflame? That Pokemon was everywhere for ONE generation and then he died. Like he never lived to begin with. The Gale Wings nerf was too much. It's not like Stealth Rocks has gone anywhere. (Not to mention the loss of the Flying Gem.) And he was never impossible to deal with in VGC. With all the power creep that has been going on, Talonflame would need Full Power Gale Wings just to be relevant again.
I was waiting for exeggutor the whole time but it never came. Eggy was so great in the early generar but fell off absurdly hard and I’m pretty sure ended up Untiered at some point
I would probably add Aegislash to the list. It started off God-tier and then one 20-point nerf and 1 generation later, it just fell off. Not as bad as Metagross, which is a damn shame but yeah, its rarely used anymore.
Aegislash didnt drop cause the stat cut it was cause the meta in gen 8 just wasnt kind to it. The other major part is dynamax sucked with it because it couldn't stance change. Also agislash isnt in SV i believe.
@loopygordo that's why I said "20-point nerf *AND* 1 generation later". It's a combination of the 2 that killed it and dropped it to UU
Before I even watch I'm going to guess snorlax went from gen 1 hero in his own S++ category to I have no idea what he is now
It hurts that Lucario is on the thumbnail. =/
2:24 not the sonic the headgehog soundtrack… sneaky lol
Honorable mentions:
Walrein
Starmie
Gengar
Togekiss
Scolipede
Salamence
Tyranitar
I had no idea you did competitive! You have any interesting VGC placements? 👀
Toxapex with Baneful Bunker + Venoshock is a METAL combo
Before Blissey or before Bloodmoon were banned?
I remember there was an event Entei with flare blitz. That Entei I think was good. Too bad they can't breed
Keep in mind people that these are HIS opinions. If you don't see it the way Mystic does here, then that's fine. Just don't hound him for it.
are there going to be best teams for teal mask with the other two starters?
Really, he didn't mention Gengar losing levitate?
to be fair a bunch of these are still being played in doubles and some singles
Lol all i can hear is Sonic 2 Metropolis theme playing in the background at #9
This hurts because I am a huge Chansey/ Blissey fan and I loved walling kids for a free win on X/Y and ORAS. Sad to see it fall so far from greatness, it literally won me games that I’d potato away with my other 2 Mons just to clutch up everytime. Minimize/ Softboiled/ Toxic/ Protect or Substitute = 💰
Chansey also lost Wish (event move) and Teleport
I loved Lucario....it was my favourite fighting type
Maybe I’m dumb but I have no idea what UU, RU and all the other acronyms are 😅😅. Help
@mysticumbreon
top 10 poke tubers that fell off
Did you stop with the mono team series ?
How the hell does mew not learn recover?!
Huh, this was a very interesting, I understood this to an extent, but I am not familiar with some of the Words in this Video?
Like VGC or UU?
@@anthonyt425 uh, yeah, i guess.
i think tyranitar was the longest rank in ou since it came out. 2nd probably skarmory
Tauros is the def of peaked in high school
12:20 You mean Annihilape'd it :P
Ur telling me base atk 120 of Arceus isn't gonna cut it lmao
Power Creep really raises the standards of everything
Stats, movepools, and abilities especially
Pokémon need to just OP all the popular Pokémon. I’m sick of the dope ones sucking 😂😂
Give Celebi fairy type already, gamefreak.
did they nerf steel or is that dark/ghost weakness due to Metagross psychic type?
It’s due to the psychic typing
@@Jcpygo I figured, but he said steel got nerfed with 4 type weaknesses
Since gen 6, Steel doesn't resist Dark anymore.
@@nickdentoom1173 makes sense. thank you
@@jaretco6423 Nope, but Dark would have still been Neutral against Aegislash, due to Steel resisting it, so thats anothe reason why they made Steel not resist Dark anymore.
Number 1 lando T.
Blud is basically UU now
blissey and almomola are the most digusting pokemon ever created. the nerf on blissey wasnt enough and alomomola its too damn broken, it should be on ubers or lose wish and regenerator.
I always thought the mythicals were never VGC legal?
They were only at the end of Gen 8
Otherwise never
G-Zapdos also outclasses Staraptor
Now make a video on the opposite and put Ribombee in number 2
I really wish mega evolutions stayed
I'm making this comment before watching the video:
They've fallen and they can't get up. 😎
My favorite Pokémon is umbra, my umbreon
shell smash metagross. DLC 2. December 2023.
Let's do it, gamefreak. We believe in you. CC, spikes and a new steel type u-turn wouldn't be bad either~
Shift Gear makes more sense
To this day i find it hilarious that people say tauros and persian go nerfed in gen 2 cause of steel types. Like bro stop complaining and get a ground move for the steel types. They didn't get nerfed youre just finding something to complain about
That was actually a indirect nerf, as the Steel types made Normal STAB less spammable, but they were really nerfed because the changes of crit mechanics and the nerf of Hyper Beam
Persian doesn’t learn any good ground type attacks at most it can use it dig
Ghost types like gengar, fighting types like machamp and rock types like rhydon already exist before steel was even added so it's not like it's a major nerf.
GAMEFREAK Traitors! How dare you mess up my big metal friend! 😠😤
Tiers mean nothing.
As someone who never plays Pokémon competitively, I agree.
Maybe in VGC/Doubles which is a completely different format, but in OU/Singles it sure as hell does
What is RU Uu NU??
Rarely used, Under used, and Never used. They're tiers that indicate a Pokémon's level of usage.
The stupid names for the competitive battle tiers
Nothing special
Singles tiers top to bottom:
Overused/OU= top-tier
Underused/UU = high-tier
Rarelyused/RU = mid-tier
Neverused/NU = low-tier
“(PU) this pokémon stinks bad” = bottom-tier
Untiered/ZU = unviable
Use 1.25 speed
Ah ffs, it's a smogon video.
Wth do OU, UU, etc mean?
Over used, under used, rarely used, never used.
@@Sanctuary666and “PU this Pokémon stinks bad”
😢 not my second favorite pokemon
I have no idea what any of this means, them again I'm not a competitive nerd so i don't really care, i. Still use lucario
Dragonite STAY OU PLS
I would say Charizard fell off hard, as it was very good in gen 8 but in gen 9 it got slumpt by power creep.
HOWEVER.
Chi Yu got banned from OU, and Charizard got Weather ball back.
Lategame, Charizard is really good at picking up KOs even on resists. (cleanly oneshots Great Tusk and Gliscor, as well as 2 shotting Slowking) so i can see charizard making a comeback. Maybe the next DLC will give him what he needs to make a full return.
EDIT: i should specify that you should run Specs + Solar Power. this set is really draining of course.
I wish zard could get Roost back, so i could run Life Orb instead.
I dont get the goku reference to lucario lol
Lucario is voiced by the same actor that does Goku
The franchise fell off in general
Basing this off of smogon makes it immediately irrelevant and just as much of a joke as smogon is
Bitterrrr
Why is this so long and boring of an intro... also these tiers are for children who don't play the actual main line games....
Don’t understand ou uu ru bl
Ou uu? Wtf
Clicked off the vid after you said entei was bad lmfao ur really running out of ideas for vids now bro
Entei is bad tf
If Mew’s stats doubled every time it faced a Mewtwo similar to the event, it would be in Ubers.
