Older lady at church just handed one down to me that she never learned. Looks simple enough to learn. Can't wait to tackle my next learning experience.
Starmill5 , thank you for your nice feedback. I am sorry to say I don't have tabs for this song. With the mountain dulcimer, I always try to find out how to play a song intuitively.
John Denver played and sang this in A. Most mere mortals (like myself) play and sing it in G. This arrangement is in D. I suggest a capo at the 3rd fret for the dulcimer to play in the key of G.
@@N8DulcimerOld I think they're comment ended up under the wrong one somehow because in another comment below someone said "you can see what he's doing what the hell do you need tabs for". I think this was supposed to be a reply to that, idk
Very nice. Why are all of the dulcimer videos that I am finding so old? It's very strange. Did people suddenly quit making dulcimer videos a decade ago?
So you one of those lucky ones playing be ear? Trying to figure out the chords you are playing. Some are easy to figure out, some not so much, wish I had a better vantage point of your finger placement.
It's actually amazing what you can do with only 3 strings. However, I did not recognize the tune, I suspect this would be fine as fill-in or background in a larger arrangement, however.
I'd say this is above beginner, probably about intermediate level. It's 3 pages with a CD for teaching and it sounds good.www.tullglazener.com/WCD033-TakeMeHomeCountryRoads_Workshop_CD.htm It's $15.00
@@anotherguyonthepc5 I'm sorry if you're disappointed in me, Cole. I'm 78, never played a musical instrument and new to all of this. I'm not very good as you detected. Maybe I should just quit trying as even having the tab is still so hard for me.
Choose Know ....dont be intimidated by a 23 year old wanna be guitar player. He has also put rude replies on two of my posts here. I was taught if you cant say something nice, dont say anything at all.............neither one of us asked for his input and it was uncalled for. I am 68, and also just learning. I think being older, i want to do things quicker. I learn much quicker with tab. Am starting to do some by ear now also. I enjoy learning....im beginner to intermediate and am getting better with practice. I also bought tab from Tull and am very happy with it. We do whats best for us. Keep playing
The bottom of the "film reel" lines up with the edge of the dulcimer!
Good thing someone else noticed
Using this in my D&D games guaranteed!
Haha D-A-D

Why don't you just do it? I'd love to watch you playing it that way. Let me know when your video is available!
Bill Dempsey Good to know that’s an option. Tks for the info!
I personally like it in this key. Makes it more mountain sounding while still keeping that heart-wrenching beauty to it.
Love this! :-)
I'm self-taught on the mountain dulcimer.
Please...where can I find the tab for this?

I would love to play that song , just a beginner, need the chord progression.

Let me say that properly, So you are one of the lucky ones who can play by ear?
Is it possible to get a lesson or tab for this? I recently just got my hands on a dulcimer and really want to play this
Sorry, I've never written that down.

Good stuff, but there's too much drone and fill.
Great comment, but I'd like to watch your version.
goschenhobel ahhhhhh dang !!!
Drone and fill is kind of the point of the dulcimer...
Nothing more Hillbilly than playing Take me Home on a dulcimer.
