I just love ❤️ the Welsh accent & I know there’s more than one but all the same sounds beautiful to my Scottish ears . Thank you to everyone involved in Gavin & Stacey cast & crew it’s was a beautiful ending. It’s sad it’s over but what a ride guys onwards & upwards to your next adventure. Big congratulations 🎊❣️
Loved the finale - absolutely superb British TV at its best, but it was interesting to hear how much James Corden's time in the US trying to make his accent accessible to Americans actually ended up changing Smithy's voice. And even noticeable in this interview.
Amusing that you wouldn’t guess that Ruth was from Wales, even though she and Rob knew each other and acted together at school, while James is just mildly Estuary, rather than both being full on Welsh and Essex. Possibly the only cast members who didn’t need to modify were Larry and Joanna? Great acting, real emotions and relationship issues made for laugh out loud moments without the need for canned laughter.
The thing that first drew me to watching Gavin and Stacey was that the characters are all named after murderers. The Shipmans, The Wests and Dawn and Pete Sutcliffe. I'd love to know why they chose that route, I just think it's fascinating. I can watch it from beginning to end on repeat and never get bored, there's always something I've missed. Like Noel from Hearsay was actually sat next to nessa's dad when him and Dave were playing cards in the caravan.
I heard that it was done on purpose to reclaim the names as anyone who happens to have the same surnames can have a fun association with a sitcom rather that just the murderers.
It’s because there is another universe already written by James & Ruth where everything is a lot darker. You think Squid Game has peril and horror? Wait til you see what they do to Chinese Alan. I won’t even mention Dirtbox.
I like how a whole generation was scarred by PJ getting blinded at paintball, and we all think about when going paintballing. I bet Ant and Dec watched it and laughed at that bit
What about the continuity error with Pam and Mick’s conservatory that Smithy starts to build….and then it’s not there in the last Christmas special or this one? Was that just forgotten about?
Please Please Please - Do another one - I am sure the BBC would pay £1 Million at Least - and if you don't need the Money Donate it to your choice of Charities !
does James put that voice on? coz it really sounds affected which is odd, considering how good he is at acting. it literally sounds like bad acting. just sounds all wrong. not saying he should sound like Smithy, it's just a strange real life voice.
James is right. I can't stand his attitude in this interview. He's clearly a decent actor... I think he knows that people think he's a twat and is playing on it for engagement.
I'm no expert on the Welsh language, but it seems from some Googling that 'olaf' would be last as in 'final', and would imply there would be no more Christmases after that one, whereas 'diwethaf' is last in the sense of 'the one previous to this one' which is the meaning of last that the song title 'Last Christmas' is using.
Glaring continuity error in this 2024 special too. When Mick is toasting/reminiscing Smithy with all the boys down the pub. Holding his pint of beer, it starts of full, then goes down to around a half AND then back up to a full pint. Shoddy editing.
I'll be honest, I watched the episode twice (as I was very drunk when I watched it air on the day) and I never once realised that it wasn't set at Christmas.
Na, I don't buy that. They know each other so long they're probably like besties/siblings and they're being themselves! She's not gonna grin like a chimp all the time, go have a lie down 😅
What a fabulous chat. You can tell the interviewer is a fan and it makes all the difference
These two are fantastic writers as well as actors. Our family has so many great memories from watching G and S over the years.
It was absolutely brilliant. I've grown up with these characters and love the way it unfolded. Crying? Yes. Best wishes and thank you for everything.

It was a perfect final episode!
It was a fantastic finale, but for the love of all things human… what happened on the fishing trip?! 😂
The bean were on the fire
Great interview! And loved the finale
I wondered where Smithy's conservatory was on Pam and Micks house!! 😂
Smithy never has planning permission.
That damn fishing trip, 😅 i really hope you both write something again soon, i have no life so i re watch gavin and Stacey again and again x
Watching it and recording it because you always miss something first time round, can’t wait
Mick standing up stole the show
Completely agree! The way Smithy is looking at him…all perfectly set up by Mick’s speech on the stag night
By the looks of Larry Lamb, Mick was lucky to have stood up at all.
@@MarthaMansbridge 77yr old men stand up a little more slowly. What did you expect?
Watch his pint go from full to half back to full in that scene
Dad 😭
We in New England (US) really love this series. The families and the love and support and hilarity (esp PAM!) is incredible!
Can’t wait! 😊💜
Great interview
Watched it twice over Xmas, loved it,well done.
Loved the final G&S , can’t believe there’s not going to be anymore 😢😢😢
I’m delighted they’re finished!

I love Ruth’s Reaction to James’ answers being Step into Christmas 😂😂😂😂😂
Love this duo ❤
Oh I did enjoy the Christmas Special. ☕ 🎄
The Dave coaches bit made me laugh 😊
Also, in series 1, bryns citroen is a 55 plate desire. Season 2, it's an 02 plate LX.
Well spotted Marty, in the latst episode last nigt i belive it was a 53 plate.....
Yes I believe the make of tyres is different too. Disgraceful !!

Loved it, it was so good
Fair play it’s been ages since we’ve had a half decent Christmas special and I would take a punt it killed the ratings

I think they said somewhere that originally it was a silly private joke for themselves and they didn't think the audience would catch on.
And John Prescott turning up when Nessa was going to marry Dave
That’s sick 🤢

6:25 *Just watched **_Sonia_** as Dyan Carroll in **-Archie-** [Cary Grant] and **_Nobody talks like that_** -and Laura Aikman was Brilliant !*
*Surely we need a follow up in 2 Years time - IE Four Weddings and a Funeral!*
When everyone stood up and Smithy looked to one man...
I think I’ve found a continuity error (or more a confusing thing) with Bryn’s bedrooms!
I like how a whole generation was scarred by PJ getting blinded at paintball, and we all think about when going paintballing. I bet Ant and Dec watched it and laughed at that bit
Ruth was amazing as Ness.. and she's only 29 😂😂
58!

another one is pam getting her lines wrong when first talking to gavin, instead of saying "make you come up" she said "make you come you up"
Isn’t that just Pam mixing her words up? “Barry’s island” “minds aisle” etc?

I want a spin off with Nessa and Bryn.
Would Gavin and Stacey cast to do a car-pull karaoke 🎤🚗

Jeepers James is serious and on edge…
I've noticed that as well in a few interviews.....
@@elisabethharper951 #ParasocialDrama
Gurl.....no.
Not sure why it was compared with the Strictly final and Wimbledon, I've never watched either, stupid comparison, they are not even in the same league

Congratulations on having microphones as big as their heads.
James is right. I can't stand his attitude in this interview. He's clearly a decent actor... I think he knows that people think he's a twat and is playing on it for engagement.
What attitude? I think you're looking for things that aren't there.
Typical rent boy.
Nadolig Olaf would be last Christmas. Never even heard of Diwethaf
They're so bored of promotion by this interview.
Positively underwhelmed by it, very predictable ending and the only shocker was Dave Coaches being the secret lover.

Look at the type of fluids in the glasses.
Why is James Cordon all of a sudden so posh?
That presenter is to much shocked that someone eats turkey outside of Christmas. Go get a life pal
Peter rabbit meets Mr bean or a stringer
What a drag. No Christmas & no answer to the fishing story. Yawn
I'll be honest, I watched the episode twice (as I was very drunk when I watched it air on the day) and I never once realised that it wasn't set at Christmas.

8:46 - this is why the show is over.... theyre clearly not so fond of each other... some of those looks ruth gives james damn
LOL
You are _desperate_ for your parasocial drama. 😅
Agreed your looking too deep they obviously have bonding after all these years
If that’s true, why would they be getting together with their families on CHRISTMAS day? BFFR. 🙄
Na, I don't buy that. They know each other so long they're probably like besties/siblings and they're being themselves! She's not gonna grin like a chimp all the time, go have a lie down 😅
I don't know about that, but it was very notable that they wrote it so that they didn't have to actually kiss each other near the end of the episode.
FIRST! Thanks, @ReggieWatts
