I remember watching you hunt oakmulgee last year. I live about 50 minutes from there and think I may give it a go next year. I live very close to the northern end of Cahaba WMA. Just got into hunting two years ago. I’ve spent a ton of time hunting it and have seen very few deer. I’ve sat in clear cuts, Creek bottoms surrounded by pines, sat on gas lines. Just seems like when rifle starts around there the deer barely move during the day. Stayed in the woods longer this year in the middle of the day and still nothing. I’ve heard the bottom part of Cahaba WMA is not hunted as much may go give it a shot. May try Oakmulgee some next year and the Talladega national forest. I’m about to just sit in the thick pines and see if I can’t get one in there. I found some scrapes hung a camera and in one day had a daylight Buck and doe. I’m just trying to get meat. Are there a lot of deer on Sam R Murphy? It’s probably about 1:40 from my house up there. With Cahaba being so close It’s hard to not just run over there and continue to scout and find the deer. Bow season was seeing deer rifle season it dropped off. Thank you for your channel and prayers to your families health.
Wheeler is amazing for sure and totally different from the mountains. Mountains are much easier to hunt for me but I like the challenge of flat river bottom. Great video!
I’ve been in a drought since end of 2022. It’s got me down. I talked to Jamie McKay & Kevin tullis & Russ Seal over here. They all say keep ya head up. I just have limited time. Weekend warrior
Thanks for your insight. Enjoy your videos. I hunt private mostly but since the baiting was approved our deer sighting during day has dropped greatly. Plenty at night on cameras. Saw a few deer early season and nothing since. Rut looks to be kicking in so I 'l try a couple of your tricks. Have you hunted Skyline management area? What's your opinion of it? Thinking of trying some public land hunting next season. Tired of all these feeders everywhere.
Mike; From my experience, the 10th of January is generally kick off time for the rut in central and southern Alabama. Ive taken a number of bucks during this time. You covered a lot of ground and its spot on. Thanks for making a video.
Thanks for the help Mike! Good luck the rest of the season. #Getemflat 👍🏻

I’m all for helping hunters out but please stop spot burning. Let hunters put in the work for themselves. That makes the kill that much better
