Yes, I use them for a bit of fun, and also when I’m bored. They create new ideas, which I then try to do without using them!!! However, having posted some, my friends have avoided them altogether. They are too straight laced! The Light and Pale reminds me of James Popsys’ images. I accidentally had it on Pop Art yesterday and wondered why my flowers looked magnificently bright!
I've never used art filters in my em1mk3 before but the weather in the Lake District was miserable this weekend so I gave it a try and made up with the results thanks for the tip ❤
Hi Emilie. Very good to bring this subject up. There are a few art filters that I quite frequently use. I use Pop Art quite often for night photography to make the photos more lively. The Vintage filters I quite often use indoors, although I also use Vintage III at sunrise or sunset as it gives a very special vibe by emphasizing the blue tones. My most used art filter is Grainy Film II though. It works especially nice when there is not too much contrast in the scene and with adjusting highlights and shadows you can make it look like different film stocks. Standard it is based on Kodak Tri-X 400 but for instance by lowering the highlights -5, raising the shadows +4 and setting ISO to 200 it pretty much looks like the original Agfa APX 100 film. Really nice! I keep my camera set to RAW only, because it will create JPG's anyway when using the art filters.
Art filters are an under reported resource from the OM ambassador's. I use mine all the time and wish OM system would put a little more emphasis on this great tool. More art filters!
I like Monochrome and Dramatic Tone, both color and B&W, the best. Dramatic Tone can do wonders on a dull, dreary sky and on concrete structures, among other things.
Another helpful video, thanks. I like to use the filter number 5 "Ancient B&W", specially in the "worst" light hours (midday) which are the best for B&W. The only thing I don´t like is that RAW turns automatically into RAW+JPEG.
Thanks Emilie, great video. 🎉🎉🎉. Funnily enough, your friend, Rob Trek, recently had a great video on using the single colour Art Filter. That filter is a good look for autumn colours. 🎉🎉🎉
Salut Emilie ! j'utilise beaucoup le filtre ART "dramatic" 1 avec mon E-M1 Mark III... Surtout avec des ciels très contrastés. Les résultats sont surprenants ! Bonne continuation aux USA. 😉
I always look forward to your videos - & this one is no exception. I have a Panasonic FZ2500 24 ~ 480mm bridge camera that contains 24 art filters. I'll take this out when I feel like mostly having fun & playing with the different filters. The more I use the certain filters in the FZ the more I become attached to certain ones - like ' Expressive Art '/ Glittering Illuminations ' , or Artistic Nightscape. Today our camera group will go to downtown Sacramento & shoot the tall buildings. Thanks, Ray
I enjoy the art filters and use art bracketing quite often. I also have an Olympus TG-1 that has a filter called drawing. It’s very cool. It creates a pencil like outline of the image and also gives you the jpg of the image. I’ve only seen it on a couple of older Olympus cameras. Check it out if you ever get the opportunity. Love you videos. Thanks for putting them out.
Thank you Emilie! I greatly appreciate the information. I had no idea you could apply several filters at one time. So much fun. I've had my OM-1 for almost a month. Your videos have have been so helpful.
My favorite way to do photography is with 1 manual prime lens (zone focus), aperture priority and picking an art filter for the day. No raw images, minimal post, just out catching moments of time. Art filters get too much hate imo. My favorites are usually vintage 3, grainy film, pop art and dramatic tone. Cross process is another one I don't use much but is really fun for a couple days out of the year.
Monochrome. B&W is revealing shapes & textures I’ve never noticed on the route I’ve walked for years. Like shooting macro, B&W is a tool that’s letting me rediscover everyday things. As if I’m visiting a new location without having to buy a plane ticket. Thanks for asking & for your content.
I used a couple art filter a few years ago with one of the EM-5'S. Thanks for this. Looking forward to use the art filter soon. Will have to try them on my upcoming trip to Turkey & Sicily!
I'm not a fan of Taylor Swift, and I still want an E-M10 because she has one. I think I have a problem. 😂 I generally keep my camera on 'vivid' (I am no stranger to grey countrysides myself!) but once in a while I like to play around with the other options. I should do it more often. What might help there, is that I recently found out art filters can even be applied afterwards, in-camera or in the OM Share app. Just one of the things I'm still finding out about OM cameras! The more I know, the more I realise I don't know...
The Grainy Film art filter is incredible. I use it constantly, especially when I am using a manual focus lens like the TTArtisans 25mm f2. But I can’t quite figure out any use cases for the others.
Fun is the operative word with art filters! I love to play with partial color shots using the color wheel. You can isolate a particular color, leaving the rest of the image in monochrome, for example. I did this with House Fiches on an overcast day, isolating their red markings so that they really stood out.
Merci encore 👍
Great Video !!! I have an original EM 1. Tried this feature and it works great. Question... I know that I can turn this feature off and on from shooting menu 2. If I don't wish to have it on all the time can I turn it off from the "Super Control Panel" ??
@@EmilieT Thanks.. It does work in menu only. Just was curious it it worked from the live view or super control panel. Unless I am mistaken it doesn't appear that it can be turned off and on from either live view or super control panel.
@@williammoskovitz7772 On the E-M5, which must be fairly close to the E-M1, the ART filter is only selectable when the mode dial is in the ART position (which may be obvious, but I mention it anyway). Then, in the SCP, you can navigate to the symbol at the bottom left of the screen, separated from the main SCP menu elements, to change the filter. Weirdly, there is also an element in the upper right of the main SCP menu showing the ART filter number, but you can't select it or change it! Why, Olympus, why?! ART BKT is selectable in the SCP as one of the options exposed by the symbol at the bottom left, but the settings are only available in the setup menu, as Emilie showed. It was fairly easy to find.
This feature (Art Bracketing) is one of my guilty pleasures. I use it often. Great idea for a video.
Thank you Scott. It really is a great feature!
No one ever talks about these. And I find them awesome. My favorite is ART II.
Glad to hear that OM cameras have creative filters. I love using them in my Lumix cameras too.
@@ImageMaven Yes we should talk more about them. They are a little ´hidden’ in the control panel but so fun to use!

I started using several art filters for every shot. Dramatic Tone I usually I do not like, but sometimes it gives a fantastic result, so I include it.

More fun…often underrated when it comes to a camera!
100%!
Some of the art filters are nice. But what Panasonic did with their new Realtime LUT feature is awesome 👍👍
Oh i will have to check it out!
