There was a whole village in Africa that died overnight, people, goats, dogs, cattle everything dead, except one guy. And it was because of a odorless gas creeping into the village from a near by lake. The one survivor lived because he was afraid of something I can't remember and he slept in the trees. The gases where heavy and only killed at ground level, not that it helps with this mystery, it just made me remember that incident.
That's so scary. I can't imagine coming back to my home just to find everybody dead... You're all alone, your friends, loved ones are dead. I'd pass away from anxiety.
So I found the information, Lake Nyos, location Cameroon. Killed everything on Aug 21st 1986, 1,746 people killed and 3,500 livestock. The documentary is called Killer Lakes it was released in 2010, they have since installed a gas ventilation system and carbon dioxide alarms for villagers. I glad ya'll are interested, please enjoy more historical disasters and share, this stuff is wild.
The woman bashing her head against the rock might not have necessarily been psychosis. It's really grim to think about but maybe she was just in so much pain that it was an attempt to knock herself out.
can verify, i've once had a migraine that was so bad i went into my dormroom without saying a word and repeatedly slammed my head against the wall in front of my roommate, because i thought it would somehow fix the issue. it didn't 😂
What's being described here sounds like they were exposed to *something* that caused a super aggressive, agonizing fatal condition that attacked their CNS, possibly caused brain-swelling (sensations of extreme heat are common, as are foaming at the mouth and INTENSE headache) and certainly unbearable pain, which could explain the poor woman banging her head on the rock- an attempt to instinctively "attack" the pain, knock herself unconscious or dead. It's speculation, but whatever happened to these unfortunate young people was unimaginably horrifying & certainly excruciating. I shudder to think about it.
@@AndyBonesSynthPro Whatever it was, I think it must have been ingested. Otherwise, it would have affected them all at once, since they were all close together, and it's doubtful there would have been a survivor with symptoms this violent. Cyanide poisoning is my theory.
I’m leaning towards Sarin Gas. It would stay low to the ground as well, so that could explain why it didn’t hit all of them at once. After they bent down to check on the first guy, they get dosed with it. Valentina said she didn’t bend down to check on the first guy, and everyone else did, so maybe that’s what saved her life.
@@heathermillsphantomlimb9314 unlikely, any such dose of sarin that kills within few minutes of first signs of exposure would heavily contaminate clothing. Also while sarin stays low, standing isnt enough to evade it.
Solid point.. definitely seems like maybe they were doing some type of dumping in the area.. of course I don't mean the hikers but the government, military or even another group in the area!
Simple theory that fits the story: The hikers were eating well the whole time. They could've come across some wild "rosemary" to add some seasoning to their meal. Problem is that wild rosemary looks nearly identical to wild hemlock. If that hemlock were in a shaded area, then a fungus could've been coating it. The symptoms sound like a mixture of hemlock and ergot poisoning, especially the quick death and hallucinations. She survived because she didn't eat as much at their last meal.
Before my dad went to the forest army or NFA he told me to never go into the woods with out a gun for protection, a flashlight for obviously light, a long book to keep yourself sane and to NOT kill your friends, and a mirror to tell if your friends are real or not
It's frustrating that the surviving woman has been treated as untrustworthy by some folks and even thought to have been responsible somehow. She went through enough just being there.
Damn. Imagine descending down a snowy mountain alone for three days after watching all your friends die in really gruesome deaths. I imagine nights would be the hardest. You're just sitting there, alone, in the snow, darkness all over you after you just witnessed everyone you were with days ago die. Creepy.
@Psyfi x except no not really, as other commenters have pointed out it's easy to misidentify a plant and be accidentally poisoned, among countless other problems.
@Psyfi x yeah, but paranoia won't quite keep you out of these situations. Remember the leader of the group was experienced, having lead many groups previously. This wasnt a group of inexperienced people who frivolously decided to go out there unprepared. You're right that being alert and prepared is important, but it can be a dangerous idea to spread around that you're guaranteed survival because of that alertness. Hiking can be frightening, there's really no limit to the things that can happen out there in the wilderness. Scary stuff out there, sorry if I seemed a bit short in my first comment, I just wanted to say sometimes there's really no amount of preparation that can preclude you from danger, especially with unforeseen weather conditions like what happened here.
The eyes of the bodies missing is very common with bodies left in the wilderness, as scavenging animals always target the softest tissues first (eyes & tongue). It sounds scary but is actually quite natural!
I’m no scientist or detective, but I think the gases make the most sense. There are many factors that could keep her alive, such as her health or time stayed in the area. While her friend did follow her, he could have been more exposed. Plus, while trauma and PTSD is a serious and real thing that can last a long time, part of her current symptoms could be from her slight exposure to the gases. But like I said, that’s just a silly theory.
@@flambleue3195 She can't have murdered them. Autopsy reports show that it was most likely from harmful gas, which I doubt that she would have on her person, and even if she did they would probably notice. She would also probably not be in a state of shock for as long as she was. Also, every murder has a reason. These were close friends and so i doubt she would want to murder them for seemingly no reason. In relation to this original comment, I also agree that it had something to do with gases, but I don't really think it's exactly what Nick said would've happened if it was to do with gas, and he's already shown how the points shown in the video are obviously false. So even I'm not sure what it had to do with gases.
I saw an interview they did with the survivor She claimed that when she was found she was hysterical they had to give her medicine to calm down and also after they all died she hid in her sleeping bag inside her tent and waited till next morning until she finally came out the tent and saw them all dead. She believes they died from pulmonary edema. She said the whole time she felt someone was watching over her while witnessing this horrors. Also korovinas daughter (leader of group) later in a Russian tv interview she said she was payed a lot of money to not ask any questions. No family members were allowed to see there bodies.
The fact that the strongest guy went down first supports the deadly nerve gas theory. Because he would have had the highest tidal volume, his lungs would have breathed in more of the nerve agent first.
@@glenipolus9731 she poisoned them all, then wandered the area for 3 days all alone? Wouldn't she find her way out sooner? No, her poisoning them makes no sense.
Having survived hypothermia myself, I doubt that story. I was out in -8C freezing rain, not dressed properly and drunk, for 6 hours after dark in January (Canada). I was too frozen to bend when taken to the ambulance and it did take nearly 8hrs to bring my temp back to safe....but I didn't die nor even lose a limb/finger/toe to frost bite....The theory of unsafe food is more likely, or possibly water contamination. Perhaps not Valentina, but another member found something. Or being late Cold War era USSR, perhaps some kinda off the books experimentation/dumping.
Every body individually would have a different reaction..your body had alcohol in it..that could have been a factor in your ordeal. Every situation is unique not always the same outcome..yet select few may have a similar outcome..you can not say precisely though
Almost reminds me of rabies. But it seems very odd that all of them would have it, as human infections are very rare. And typically a rabies infection builds up instead of flipping in a second.
This entire case is incredibly disturbing , but once that poor girl witnessed the other bash her head against the rock that seems to have taken it to a whole other level . How insane it must have been to witness this chaotic incident .
What I've learned from Nick Crowley: Never leave your house, and while your in your house have 50 trained and armed professional body guards with checked backgrounds and a personal person who tests all your food while one person goes shopping for food.
Lol I just found this channel and this community is hilarious!!! But I sorta feel like you should take a break and go out and talk to nice normal people to restore your faith in humanity lol jk ☺
Nah what I’ve learned is that that’s exactly when an incident happens. 49 body guards and yourself mysteriously pass. Broken bones but no bruising. Everyone facing north. 1 body guard who was taking a piss survived to find this when he got back. You’re never safe in Russia lol
Man the image of a bunch of people undressing themelsves, bleeding and foaming at the mouth and a lady smashing her head against a rock, all of this happening within a few minutes for no real reason is haunting.
Rescue worker Vladimir Zinov proposed that they had suffered from altitude sickness, which happens at heights above 2,000 meters because of oxygen deprivation. They had died at 2,300 meters. The symptoms are weakness, headaches, and vomiting. Another rescue worker, Yuri Golus, says that he knew Korovina well, and that she had practiced techniques of extreme survival with her pupils, which basically meant that they set out with minimal supplies and clothing. Golus was in charge of the rescue operation that found Valentina's group, and he says that the only signs of a meal that they had found at the group's last encampment was one empty tin can. He thinks it's possible that she had been practicing her "extreme techniques" during that hike, which led to malnutrition, and Zinov also says that Korovina was likely trying to make the hike with minimal equipment and supplies. Golus thinks that Valentina survived because she had been constantly chewing roseroot, which is rich in vitamins. The group had collected and dried two bags of it while the weather was still good. It's unclear, however, whether anyone else had been actively eating roseroot; one root had been found in each of their backpacks. Golus's conclusions are supported by the autopsy results: the muscle tissue revealed malnourishment, and the deceased had suffered from pulmonary edema and changes to the heart, kidneys, and liver indicative of protein deficiency, which could be caused by starvation. It should be noted that this is sort of refuted in the recent and only interview with Valentina, who says that they were eating well -- however, she also contradicts her own initial statement by saying she can't remember making food on a kerosene stove, and she has trouble remembering some other details, so it's possible she's misremembering after all these years or doesn't want to make Korovina into a villain. She also says that after Krysin and Korovina collapsed, everyone started panicking and falling down with nosebleeds and foam at the mouth. So we can assume they had all suffered from pulmonary edema brought on by a combination of high altitude, protein deficiency caused by malnutrition, and panic after the initial collapse of Krysin, which would have spiked their blood pressure. The cause of death is ruled as hypothermia, and while some articles mention the state of undress some bodies were found in as a contradiction, this is called paradoxical undressing and is often seen in the final stages of hypothermia.
maybe . but altitude sickness is not that extreme. i have had it . i vomitted before but not much more. plus these hikers were pretty epxierenced. alititude sickness happens with someone not used to the change. but it SEEMS this is not the case her. imo.
@Trashlie Mezzer there was no malnutrition. these happend in a matter of mintues. they had plenty to eat. had a experienced trail guide. this was some freak thing. you don't bleed out of your body, bash ur head on a rock, ect. that's just abnormal. they couldn't add up why these things happened. we know about sickness and side effects first hand and write them down so we know what to look for in the future. imo. this was somehting else. not saying paranormal but something we don't know about yet.
@Aryan Gautam he didn't say that. He is saying that the people who were actually responders suggest that due to several factors it could have likely caused their deaths. How did you only get that from everything he wrote?
@Aryan Gautam nowhere in the reports was it suggested that anyone had a heart attack though. I'm going to mostly believe the reports from actual first responders and autopsies, not just conjecture from conspiracy theorists
No matter what you die of, if your body sits in the woods for a while the eyes will typically be gone (they decay/dry out quickly or are eaten) and you will likely have some predation wounds. Disturbing but true. Also people dying of hypothermia often do odd things as their brain shuts down, and the taking off of clothes is very common. There is a YT doc on a man left for dead overnight atop Mt. Everest, and he describes thinking he was on the beach sailing, wounding a rescuer Sherpa with his spiked boots, etc.
Oh, this is a well-known incident here, in Russia. Used to live in Ulan-Ude that you mentioned in the video. Personally was in Hamar-Daban. That place is fascinating and creepy at the same time. It's still a mystery what happened back then. But that were obviously not mushrooms. By the way, thank you for this terrifying video, Nick. Love your channel. The moral of the story: don't go hiking in Siberia, especially in the Buryatia republic. There are many riddles over there.
So true, and even worse- they were her friends and she had known most of them forever, they came from the same small town... and not to mention that she was all by herself for days after the others had died 😫😭😳

The story you're telling is not quite what Valetina said. Let me fully translate: «5th august, 10 am. Alexander Krisin came and said that they got wet and are getting cold. (Unknown where he came to and from. Maybe from a tent to another tent? - author of article). It was snowing, there were no visible orientirs. We took our backpacks and started descending in a formation of a wall. Went about 10 metres, Alexander started falling. We started getting him up. He kept falling again. Korovina (leader) stayed with him. Gave the others a commang to go down. But almost immediatly stopped the group and asked for somebody to get up for her (meaning she wanted to go down herself). Tanya took out the tent and the others covered with it. I got up to Korovina. Alexanders eyes were huge. An indifferent look (probably he had it) . Korovina checked the pulse and said that his heart isnt beating. Asked to take Vika down. I got up to her and she bit me. I forcefully brought her down to others. Tatyana started banging her head against the rocks. Denis hid behind the rocks and got inside his sleeping bag. I crawled to Korovina but she wasnt breathing. Tried to raise Timur up. When i understood that no one is moving, i started descending to the woods. I got dressed and got inside the sleeping bag and covered myself with tent. In the morning i got up, sav Tanya on the rocks, Denis, Timur, Vika. Upper was Korovina and Alex. Nobody else woke up». Sounds a lot more like panic and hysteria when you translate what the girl actually wrote the right way )) pls upvote so that everyone can see?
but why were they panicking and in hysteria? i think it sounds like what other commentors have been saying, ingestion of a poisonous fungus or something of that nature. thank you for the translation!
@@Nitephall English is not the first langue of Valentina, allow me to explain, if you will. He was trying to get the translation straight from the source instead of making it sound correct, as he didn't want to muddle it up, and this is the report of a traumatized and panicked girl who probably didn't fully understand what was going on. This was just my belief of his attempt at correcting, so I've said my part.
@@JohnSmith-gr3pq I agree and it is indeed very difficult to translate between different languages and keep the original meaning. Just try to translate something like "lagom skadeglädje" (Swedish) to a language such as English, it is actually impossible to do this perfectly as English doesn't have words to describe these words correctly.
Note to self: Never go hiking (avoid mountains) Never go diving Never go camping These days my outdoor adventure is going to grocery store. And I'm happy with that.
The frothing of the mouth and bleeding as well as some of the other symptoms they were exhibiting are all signs of a pulmonary edema which can come on very suddenly like it did in this group and which requires immediate medical attention. If not death will occur very quickly. One of the causes of pulmonary edema is traveling to or exercising at high elevations. A few other symptoms are shortness of breath, a feeling of suffocation (which would be why they were grabbing at their throats and tearing off their clothes), wheezing, and a terrible feeling of restlessness and anxiety or that something really bad is going to happen.
@@prodsteep That's like asking why a good number of healthy, experienced mountain climbers in one group end up with altitude sickness on a specific climb while others in the same group do not. Sometimes it just comes down to luck, either good or bad. Pulmonary edema is a very plausible explanation in this situation and if so, it was sheer luck that Valentina didn't develop it. Conditions may have been just right at that day, time, weather, elevation, and speed of ascent, kick starting a bodily process that is known to occur during higher altitude climbs and hikes, especially in the cold. Personally though, I believe the authorities were up to no good and that's why they waited to send in the search party.
This sounds like poisoning by mushrooms.... They all ate together that morning, maybe Val didnt eat as much or she ate something different. She may have not liked mushrooms. Expert Mycologists even have a hard time telling the difference between some types of mushrooms in the field, so they take them and do a spore print to see what they are. This really does sound like poisoning.....
I’m not scientist, but I think that the bleeding that occurred was not anything a mushroom could do. Honestly, now that I think about it, I wouldn’t be surprised, nature is scary.
There are several possibilities for a survivor-The main one is that she was possibly downwind from the others, and she didn't get a very good dose of it, or maybe, none at all.
While I agree it was likely some kind of chemicals dumped after the fall of the Soviet Union, and the survivor just narrowly missed getting a lethal dose, I don't think I would consider it a "very good dose". That is a TERRIBLE thing to get a dose on. (And before people make suicide jokes, it's still a terrible thing to dose on, that is a very painful way to die.)
Bizarre story. Since I know Russian, I did some mild reading on it, and sources on this are only coming up recently. Supposedly after it all happened, no one really showed any interest or contacted Valentina about it, so after she was released from the hospital, she just kind of went back to her life, got an education, etc. Everything was wrapped up very quickly, but she was too traumatized to really want to do anything about it or even remember parts of it properly (she was 17 at the time). Didn't even tell her husband, he found out upon seeing a photo of her on the news like, 2 or 3 years back (from one of those unsolved mystery shows). Was kind of heartwarming to see Valentina meet with a father of one of the dead, and all he had to tell her was that he's glad she survived. Valentina hadn't made any contact with the relatives of her dead expedition mates out of survivor's guild. Supposedly she even walked the trail again after all these years, to gain some kind of closure. Interestingly, the daughter of the guide claims to have been approached and paid for her silence, while Valentina hasn't been approached by anyone. There are also some relatives of the survivors that said they tried to look for Valentina, but were consistently mislead about her location. There's also suspicious circumstances surrounding the handling of the deceased bodies. From how long it took for the bodies to be released to the relatives, to their burial. There was no real investigation, no official examination of the bodies. One thing that's certain is that it happened, but I have no real savvy while digging through Russian sources, so who is to say what really happened. Some of the theories that came up in the special about it get wilder by the minute. Watched a 1 hour special on russia.tv: russia.tv/article/show/article_id/62152
Thank you so much! I may understand russian but even I suck at my mother-language so I'm glad to have another person also speculate on this who understands it better than what I ever could. 😊
I was lowkey thinking what if valentina had something to do with it explaining how she survived. Also doesn't want to talk incriminate herself. Judging by the way you said suspicious circumstances for the handling of the bodies and continuously being mislead from valentina brings up some red flags for me. Not that I've done my research or anything. Just assuming from what I've heard.
Honestly, I feel like creepiness is just soothingness that's been recontextualised to be unsettling. Lullabies, music boxes, dolls, it can all be used to imply childhood, but also to imply a corruption of youth. Idk, just a crack theory.

This sounds so much like mushroom toxicity. Many toxic mushrooms cause Disruption to our blood clotting factor...which can cause bleeding from any and all orifices. Types of fungus poisoning also cause the body temperature to rise and affect breathing; sufferers often try to remove anything that could constrict breathing. Also, people often experience extreme skin sensitivity...to the point they can’t handle anything touching the skin. Finally, confusion and delusions, and even heart failure are also common. The only common symptoms not mentioned are the GI symptoms, specifically diarrhea. However, the GI symptoms almost always appear before any others... it’s the body’s initial attempt to rid itself of the toxin. I have no problem believing that a group of people who are not intimately related would not discuss having bowel trouble with each other. This kind of poisoning often takes a few hours to a day or two to appear. I know many will argue the impossibility of this because there was one symptomless survivor who never mentioned eating foraged mushrooms. Maybe she didn’t know. The leader was an expert who may used cooked foraged mushrooms and didn’t think it important to mention. Unfortunately, so many mushrooms look so much alike and grow in the same vicinity that even experts may misidentify them or not realize they have two kinds. Maybe the girl who survived had some kind of food allergy that caused her to avoid eating something the rest of the group all ate...that also had the toxic item in it. Maybe she hated mushrooms so she picked them out while serving herself, unknowingly increasing the amount others might then ingest. Or maybe she did eat it, but just didn’t get many mushrooms in her portion;.the thing about mushroom toxicity (as with most toxins) is the amount ingested not only directly relates to how severe the symptoms are, but also how eminent death becomes. Incidentally, often there is a period of time where mushroom toxicity symptoms appear so improved and sufferers who initially sought treatment appear to feel so well they will be released from hospital. It seems perfectly plausible. If the hikers ate the toxic mushrooms the night before, the next morning the symptoms would start to become more and more severe. As the one person who wasn’t poisoned and had no symptoms, it’s very possible she slept through any disturbances (like having diarrhea or having to vomit) that kept the others up. Not to mention the fact the group as a whole had so many other fish to fry... like escaping a massive snowstorm...they no doubt ignored or downplayed any troubles they believed did not immediately concern their survival...until it was too late. Finally, in regard to the post-mortem, as most of us are people who live in modernized cities with access to advanced testing and professionals who are not only well compensated, but also support finding the truth and the rule of law, with only rare instances of systemic corruption, it is very easy got us to criticize the lack of thoroughness and obvious oversight apparent in the autopsies and final explanation of “what happened”. Thus, I ask you to remember not only were the autopsies done in a fairly remote Siberian city, the time at which the tragedy occurred was the aftermath of an extremely corrupt time in Russian history, and a time where people still lived without as a result of the aforementioned corruption and the the specific nature of communism. People worked with what they had. Under the circumstances and without access to modern technology, death by hypothermia wasn’t a terribly misguided conclusion. People like to give this reason or that reason why a plausible explanation can’t possibly be valid, but I always think horses and never zebras. In this case there are so many unknowns and, as Crowley advises, all we have is a the testimony of a now older woman who was an extremely traumatized teenager at the time of the incident.
Good theory, but in Valentinas testimony she said that they never forged for food such as mushrooms or berries. They had food that they brought with them, and even Valentina after the events took the rest from the others to survive, so that means they had more food, with that in mind they had no reason to forge food in the wild, and another thing it was snowing heavily so most mushrooms and berries were beneath the snow.
One thing that doesn't add up is how their bodies were found, remember they were said to have their eyes gouged out and their mouth gaping open. If they did die from anything toxic as well, why would they strip their clothing off, and why would Valentina go through the Hassle of cooking said (possibly) toxic item if she knew she wouldn't eat it (mushrooms most likely) a lot of this story seems extremely bizarre to me....
@@jimmyhoe1279 that’s what I was thinking. She could dislike her crew members or was unstable/psychopath. Jesus christ, that's just a horrible way to go out. The fact that this incident got no media attention is just plain disrespectful to those who died in this incident. A moment of silence for those who passed.
Yeah but media coverage would attract more people to that specific area if it was mentioned, and even then if it wasnt it would still be found, as we've seen from detectives and hikers. More people going there will lead to more deaths, leading to more media coverage

There is an urban legend in my country that in such mountains there exist some creatures invsible to the eye, and if you accidentally step on them you get a type of curse. My mom swears that when she was a Sheppard with my aunt they heard loud nonunderstandable noises coming from 2 meters away. My aunt then tried to make a noise like theirs and there was some seconds of silence until the voices were bursting of laughter, which made them both run away scared like hell.
Good theory I read that it could have been strong down winds that collapsed their tent so it force the Hikers to rip their tent and go iutaide in the cold. Eventually all dying because of that. It explains most of the stuff.
Valentina may have survived because she left that area pretty quickly? That specific spot is key. Her getting away from there is probably what saved her.
@@vickhj6333 there still may be things that made a difference in them all dying after different lengths of exposure, being every person's metabolism is different, as well as oxygen absorption, allergies, disorders, medications taken, etc. It just seems that her getting away from that area is what may helped her survive.
@@MamaPinks yea, whatever the reason was, that spot was key as u said. but it seemed whatever caused their demise had vanished after when she arrived to get stuff. My theory is based on some stuff about infrasound and low pressure building up as well as malnuration n etc. basically combination of everything building up. she lucky as hell nonetheless
@@vickhj6333 I heard a lot of good theories positing sudden acute altitude sickness. It's something that normally only happens to mountaineers at much higher altitudes, so most people aren't familiar with how deadly sudden drops in atmospheric pressure could be. But basically, the hikers were already at 2300m above sea level when they set up camp because of a cyclone. Cyclones tend to reduce atmospheric pressure, so it would be like a sudden ascent further up the mountain. When they broke camp the next morning, the weather seemed clearer, so they could have entered the eye of the cyclone, where the pressure is lowest.
this is something that will definitely stay with the woman who had survived, her entire life. like.. I can't just imagine how hard it must have been. I just watched this 18min video and I am already shaken down to my core.. what more for her?

The poison theory seems, by far, the most plausible explanation to me. Human error trips up even the experts from time to time and the fact that she was an expert likely would have kept anyone from questioning the safety of any foraged ingredient. The fact that one girl survived can easily be explained away by biology. People inexplicably survive lethal toxins all the time. Every body is different and reacts to things slightly uniquely. This explains why each person seemed to succumb to the effect at different times and severities. It also explains why the girl was so messed up in the aftermath. Surviving a toxin often results in serious long term issues regardless. Anyway, that’s just what makes the most sense to me.
After several days it is hard to find many poisons. I agree it is probably poison from mushroom or something (you can get the symptoms with a massive overdose). With some chance of poison by another source, waste spill, from the earth itself, whatever.
This incident is actually deserves more attention than Dyatlov. The latter has been sufficiently explained, except for those stubbornly holding onto desperate paranormal theories. But this one really is mysterious.
Dyatlov still has quite a few interesting mysteries that can't be explained by most theories. Both tragedies are surely fascinating and shouldn't be compared
That's what I was thinking I saw a comment about the reactions and symptoms being poison like so is it possible that she poisoned them I mean it would make sense why they all broke down at separate times it seems like the only logical solution
Again, I'll just copy paste what I've said 1000 times by now She probably didn't murder them.
@@Sleepy-yp4wx in this case I don't feel the autopsy reports are really valid (I mean the hypothermia thing) so I feel she could have poisoned them and the state of shock could have been unrelated to the incident also we don't know what's going on in there lives there could have very well been a motive but since this case is so poorly documented it's unclear
I'm so happy to see this channel growing so damn fast. I remember watching his randonautica video and seen him at about 200k subs and now he has double that.
You didn’t mention that the women’s testimony may be inaccurate. People who have been through traumatic events have been known to wildly miss remember them as a coping mechanism. Its possible that after 3 days in the wilderness the events she remembers in her head are completely different from the events as they actually happened.
Absolutely this. It's been proven that people have difficulty accurately recounting traumatic experiences even as low as a few minutes after seeing it. Much less several days later under the conditions she suffered.
That was my first thought too. They said the cause of death was reported as hypothermia, whoch hypothermia can cause not only hallucinations but also hysteria type symptoms like weord behavior such as the taking the clothes off and hitting head against a rock. My guess is that the survivor had hallucinations from hypothermia herself and the trauma of it all causing her false memories which would explain the everyone bleeding at the same time and other strange symptoms.
@@they.call.me.ranchcause.i.3381 It takes some time till you come in a state of hypothermia. That group just started from a shelter, was hiking just a few hours. I can´t imagine that a group of well trained (if so) athlets were that weak. Also that argument with "they didn´t eat well" sound not really plausible. Some can hike for days without taking anything (well, you need to drink). And yes, I do extreme hiking at my own, was giving "survival tours". I was born and grew up in southern Siberia (Novosibirsk), and my family would occasionally take a day trip with this other family out cross-country skiing to a cabin in the woods and then back. We'd take a train out to a remote station and ski on from there. It wasn't extreme like camping; the trip would only be a few hours there and then back, and we never spent the night out. But reading about these mysterious incidents for hikers out in the same parts of the world where I have been...makes me terrified we ever did that to begin with!
A friend of mine has been on big game hunts all over the world. He said the scariest was in the mountains of Kazakhstan, led by the native Kazakh guides. The native mountain guides told them stories around the campfires that made them sleep with one eye open. Especially with the roars and screams of some unknown animals in the forest at night. He said he realized he could disappear, and no one might be left to tell the story.
These mysterious mountain range disappearances/deaths always creep me out.. 🥶😱 Hope you're having a wonderful night Nick, and everyone else reading this 🤍🤍 you've been a huge inspiration to me and my channel the last few months 😌

Smashing head against the rocks could have been an attempt to knock oneself unconscious due to the pain or agony the person was in. So not "turning insane", but definitely being forced to extreme measures due to some kind of pain or affect.

@@blakemjohnson Yes and? I'm just saying we can't take every detail for fact when it's based on a translated story coming from one eyewitness. The weird behaviour is just a symptom of advanced hypothermia. The missing eye thing is just the fact it took them a month to find the bodies. Birds tend to go for the eyes first. There's an interesting report about hypothermia cases in Alaska I was just reading. Some of the photos require a strong stomach though: journals.sagepub.com/doi/pdf/10.23907/2018.005
Depends, if she knew where the bodies were located without resque team telling her (most note worthy being the first victim that was left behind actually was some distance away from other victims) and she could describe the way some victims died (for example one victim bashing her head against a rock) - then those were not hallucinations. Also the fact that she was able to return to their camp, pick up some items and press on is curious, if she started hollucinating due to hypothermia - wouldn't that be a sign of her being in near death state? There’s a Russian researcher that hypothesised that both the Dyatlov group and this one died from sulfric acid staying in clouds in larger concentrations than usual.
i'm russian and i've checked wikipedia article on this topic. so, experts suggested that it was rather infrasound created by the lee waves or sulphuric acid fumes poisoning that would be transfered to Buryatia from chinese factories. and also considering that the man who knew Korovina said that she practiced the "survival school" for teenagers with minimal amount of equipment and food AND she herself in her own notebook wrote that for each person there should've been given 510 grams of food in a day, it's believed that her mistakes led to this tragedy. thank you for the video though, it's always extremely interesting to follow! :)
@@mynameiswalterhartwellwhite420 I’m sure it happens above ground but if I understand ARI right, what they are talking about is gas pockets that are release by cracks or changes in tectonic plates. @@greatexchange7310 12:58 They ate the morning of their death. I personally think it was a mass poisoning and she had false evidence to cover her tracks. She could’ve grabbed that girl’s head once dead and smacked it against the rock. The biting could’ve been after it was discovered she poisoned them or if valtentina took her mouth and forced her to bite her. This story has many plotholes that doesn’t work in Valentina’s favor
Yes the actual cause of death could have been hypothermia, sure that’s what the examiner said. Meaning they must have still been clinging to life as they all lay there, maybe comatose. So they slowly froze to death, But the cause of the chaos, obviously not. More likely nerve gas, very similar symptoms.
Not first time when hikers would die, my grandmother highly believed it was soviets testing on humans, and it never received big attention until nowdays.
Just a note, nerve agents are not usually a gas. Rather, they are typically a sticky liquid that is aerosolized in order to be delivered as a weapon, sort of like a can of hair spray or the like. It ends up being deposited as tiny droplets in various concentrations on all sorts of objects. You become poisoned by touching these little droplets, as it then absorbs through your skin into your blood steam. It's made sticky in order to maximize the skin contact time. It could have been that Valentina simply got lucky in what she touched as they passed through a contaminated zone that day. The mention of the strongest member of the group faltering first would make a lot of sense if he were traveling in the lead position, as he would have been encountering more of the toxin as he broke trail through contaminated snowpack for example. The others would likely be at least in part following his tracks, and coming into contact with less of the nerve agent. The further back in the group you were, the less of the toxin you would likely have been exposed to as other's before you in the group had already picked it up and your path exposed you less due to the snow already being slightly packed down. It would be interesting to know where within the group each member had been. It's also possible Valentina had more of her skin covered, or slightly different clothing material choices that helped keep the agent off her skin. Regarding how such an agent might have been released, as you mentioned this was a very lawless and messy time in Russia. It's possible someone mistakenly used a nerve agent artillery shell out of ignorance in a military exercise, or some other sort of similar mistake of negligence/poor accounting, though it seems unlikely they would have been firing at a popular tourist area, these shells are designed to air burst, and in stormy conditions this aerosol could then travel a significant distance from the site of the military training area. It's also conceivable that some particularly unscrupulous black market folks staged a demonstration of the illegal weapons they were trying to sell in order to prove their authenticity or the like. Very weird incident in any case.

The woman bashing her head against the rock might not have necessarily been psychosis. It's really grim to think about but maybe she was just in so much pain that it was an attempt to knock herself out.

Damn, were you okay after that?
That makes sense though

Solid point.. definitely seems like maybe they were doing some type of dumping in the area.. of course I don't mean the hikers but the government, military or even another group in the area!
Simple theory that fits the story:
The hikers were eating well the whole time.

"A game theory"
i personaly think she murdered them but this is possible. Why was there gas in this area though ?
Maybe the people that were testing made an antidote to give valentina to test if it worked or not. I don’t know

I saw an interview they did with the survivor
She claimed that when she was found she was hysterical they had to give her medicine to calm down and also after they all died she hid in her sleeping bag inside her tent and waited till next morning until she finally came out the tent and saw them all dead. She believes they died from pulmonary edema. She said the whole time she felt someone was watching over her while witnessing this horrors.

Me at work every Monday morning.
This actually makes a lot of sense if true.

@Aryan Gautam he didn't say that. He is saying that the people who were actually responders suggest that due to several factors it could have likely caused their deaths. How did you only get that from everything he wrote?

Bodies: have multiple open wounds and literally no eyes.
Morticians: hypothermia
The no eyes part would be due to maggots, but still, really stupid mortician-work.
The bodies sat for a prolonged amount of time, the eyes were most likely eaten by local wild life. Probably birds
We took our backpacks and started descending in a formation of a wall. Went about 10 metres, Alexander started falling. We started getting him up. He kept falling again.

Thank you for such a detailed reply. Good read

This could easily be determined by forensics... natural , as an unnatural occurrence.
Yeah, it’s easy to get weirded out by missing eyes, but it turns out that those are the tastiest parts for bugs.
I agree and maybe she didn't eat what they ate
You’re very right but I’m just wondering if it was poison or infection, wouldn’t they find it in an autopsy or test the only survivor?
After several days it is hard to find many poisons. I agree it is probably poison from mushroom or something (you can get the symptoms with a massive overdose). With some chance of poison by another source, waste spill, from the earth itself, whatever.
I am disturbed
Maybe instead of them having eaten a naturally toxic substance, they instead had their breakfast poisoned from some other hiker

She probably didn't murder them. Autopsy reports show that it was most likely from harmful gas, which I doubt that she would have on her person, and even if she did they would probably notice. That was my first thought too. They said the cause of death was reported as hypothermia, whoch hypothermia can cause not only hallucinations but also hysteria type symptoms like weord behavior such as the taking the clothes off and hitting head against a rock. @@o.t.t5172 probably on the other side of the world because it's the afternoon here good luck bro
i'm russian and i've checked wikipedia article on this topic. so, experts suggested that it was rather infrasound created by the lee waves or sulphuric acid fumes poisoning that would be transfered to Buryatia from chinese factories. and also considering that the man who knew Korovina said that she practiced the "survival school" for teenagers with minimal amount of equipment and food AND she herself in her own notebook wrote that for each person there should've been given 510 grams of food in a day, it's believed that her mistakes led to this tragedy. thank you for the video though, it's always extremely interesting to follow! :)
510 grams per day is a normal food portion though??
Sounds like a gas leaking from the mountain.
Gas leaking from the mountain?
@@mynameiswalterhartwellwhite420 I’m sure it happens above ground but if I understand ARI right, what they are talking about is gas pockets that are release by cracks or changes in tectonic plates. It happens all the time during earthquakes or any seismic activity. I first learned about it when I was studying the oceans. Sometimes seismic activity occurs without us noticing because it’s so minimal, but it’s enough to open up pockets of gas.
@@TheSUDclan never thought of it like that. the way he worded it was broad and sounded kind of dumb, but what you're saying makes sense. So you're implying that a gas would've poisoned them? If so what gas would be released that would do such thing? (I'm not familiar with such topic)
Good
Sounds like Valentinia poisoned them.
The weirdest part of this case is that Valentina survived somehow...
Because she killed them
There is a imposter among us
@@justelineyamtan9249 Exactly! Why is no one talking about this. She could’ve easily have poisoned the food the others ate.
@@jimmyhoe1279 this crossed my mind too but why in the world would she do that?
@@GreenGlo1991 a motive isn’t required
This sounds like radiation sickness, and that’s a nightmare all in itself
I was thinking the same. Maybe she was slightly further away from the source. A buried piece of radiated metal or something in the snow?
@@dojanglesclimb right?! I totally agree with you! There’s gotta be something left over in the area that’s radiated and caused this, it’s way too similar to radiation sickness for me!
Ya but radiation takes more time to kill and unless it’s was a really large amount I don’t think it’s that also the chemical weapons were being tested on the range of mountains and there is a toxin that causes that effect or really similar and ya radiation can cause that but again it takes time so the only thing I don’t know is why only one survived
radiation sickness doesn't kill that fast the man who was exposed to the most ampunt of radiation anyone has been exposed to in history lived for 25 days or so before dying i can't remember his name but look up the demon core for more about that
@@hentaisailor5951 that's not true. Severe radiation can kill instantly, such as from an exposed nuclear reactor. My guess is that there may have been a piece of buried nuclear technology that they came in contact with, but I don't know if that's possible. I'm reading a theory that it was a nerve agent or some remnant of a biological weapon which makes a lot of sense.
This is a very good documentary , the quality of the narration is captivating. Keep up your good work, I just had to subscribe……there are so many mysterious events that happen around us …the never ending quest of humans (hikers to be more specific) to see the unseen and know the unknown keeps them going is what I guess…..but I cannot even imagine what that lady went through !!!
this feels like something out of an r/nosleep story, it's so hard to believe it's real
*”A group of teenagers go hiking in the woods for fun, but are mysteriously killed off one by one. The final survivor, a girl, miraculously escapes and now lives with severe trauma for the rest of her life. The police arrive far too late and the coroners are not able to figure out what happened to the victims. The government gets involved and tries to cover up their mistake.”*
This case is a horrifying example of life of imitating art. I hope Valentina is doing okay.
@@thegaminghispanic2119 Proof?

Very nice comment
She ain't, I don't think anyone can get over that.
I feel like the ladies daughter biting Valentina is a giant plot hole that was skipped over. Sounds like a struggling attempt at defending oneself
nah just sounds like deleria
@@mattwaters9008 seems more of a plot hole than that with the order the events occurred in and how she would vaguely respond to the bite question. Something u would vividly see and pain is a good reminder, so it would seems cut short.
@@greatexchange7310 I think Valentina has something to do with their deaths
@@greatexchange7310 12:58
They ate the morning of their death.
@@jg6551 this has been investigated and ruled out. Main point- she had absolutely no reason to kill them.
You should make a video on the dancing plague when 400 people randomly danced to death

Yes! I totally forgot about that.
oh shit , my teacher showed us that , it was so fucking weird , a bunch of people just danced for days , and then they just... died

Love your Chanel mate. You have a great voice for spooky stuff
Not first time when hikers would die, my grandmother highly believed it was soviets testing on humans, and it never received big attention until nowdays.
Britain dropped diphenylaminechloroarsine gas on Russia from 'M Devices'. It had effects like this, but it was visible
Very weird incident in any case.
this is a really thorough and good observation. i think you may be right
