    Very well explained with a clear and easy to follow way of talking, thanks for that. And the gloss finish on that surbahar looks beautiful. When it catches the light it looks like the neck is made from glass. Wonderful craftsmanship from the luthier.

      Thanks Brendan for your wonderful words. My surbahar was made by a master luthier from Kolkotta who also made the Sitar in the video, and my first customised Chandraveena that’s in the full video of sitar, surbahar and Chandraveena.

      Yes, it's a personal choice and style of playing which determines whether one wants open or closed jawari - and anywhere in between.

    Surbahar is a Big Sitar.

      Ya, kind of. It was designed as an alternative to rudra veena for that kind of slow movement style - deeper and more resonant than a sitar.

      @@Chandraveena Subahar is a Bass Sitar but I also refer to it as a Big Sitar because of its size & shape.
