NOTE: I am SO SORRY for the background static throughout numerous points in this video! Clearly, my microphone is having issues ... so I have ordered a new one, hopefully that will fix things!! Again, sorry for the audio, hopefully you will be able to still understand what I am chatting about in the video :)

Just as interesting as a “curriculum switch” is how you personally make the curriculum work for your family and things you learn along the way. I love that content and you do a fair amount of that. Looking forward to your final decisions.
Thank you!
I love the planning process too!
I enjoyed listening to what your thoughts are as you consider next years curriculum.
Hey! We use sonlight as well. One thing that I’ve done just to make it a little easier for me since I’m about to have another younger son coming into homeschooling is doing the read aloud‘s through Audible. We don’t use audible for all the read aloud’s but we sometimes do choose that option. It definitely makes it a lot easier and relieves a little bit on my part so that I can help the other kids.. 😃
Yeah, I think I will have to start looking into Audible :)
I’m also a “curriculum collector”. Lol Finding something at a great price or being given something and storing it in my office for the future! I’m currently diving through it all as I prepare for my 3 kiddos for next year.
your kids are lined up so well. they would be going through US History together at the same time so you could almost combine A/D and choose between the two. I love your channel because of how honest you are. I love that yall dont change up everything just because its a new year. Sounds like you have a great plan!!
Thank you for the encouragement! I didn't really think of it but you are right we will all be doing American history at the same time - that will be fun!!
Really enjoy hearing you process through everything. Next year’s curriculum has been on my mind, and I’m basically at the same part in the process as you are.
Honestly, I really love this stage of the planning :)
Just made this video today :) great video. Thank you!
Fun, I will go check out your channel!
@@sciencemama made it… not up until tomorrow :)
Loved getting to listen to the factors that you considered in planning for next year!
I really enjoy listening to everyone's process ... so if you put out a video I would watch it!!
@@sciencemama I will have a similar video, but titled/framed a little differently--my thought process behind choosing next year's curriculum, walking through the options I considered and what I picked. Releasing later in March!
Saxon Dive 6/5 videos are super straight to the point. One of my children finds them boring. Nicole the Math Lady has been a blessing. The online grading has been helpful and motivating for my child.
I will also have a child going into Saxon 5/4 in April and will definitely sign him up for Nicole.
That is really good to know, thank you!
I took the plunge and purchased (pieced together) sonlight HBL C for next year. I am so excited to have that time with my kids and to trust such a solid curriculum. Thanks for suggesting it and explaining how to piece it together to save money.
No way! I'm so excited for you! We will be doing the same one :)
@@sciencemama yes! Are you going to be getting the hands on history kit? That is my current state of consideration.
My comments aren’t showing up on your videos! Hopefully, this time it will work!
We love my math assistant for Saxon. Very similar to Nicole but my older kids like his videos better. Especially when they got to level 7/6 and up. All three of my older kids said his voided were a better explanation of the lesson. We also pair these videos with Saxon teacher dvds. They are out of print by you can buy them used or buy digital copies at rainbow resource. The dvds explain - step by step - every problem in the homework and from every test. Excellent combo! MMA is run by a homeschooling dad, maybe he would parter with you! :)
We also try to find audio books for as many of the read alouds for sonlight as we can. My two oldest were on the same core and I would get each one a book and they would follow along. Reading practice too!
Thank you so much for letting me know about MMA, I will check it out!
I am contemplating the same scenario with Book Shark B & F. My (first blush) plan is to use audiobooks heavily with my older kids for the readers and incorporating them to some degree with the level B... Struggling with the same scenario, so I am interested in seeing where you land as well. I do outsource math and writing with CTC Math and IEW with my older two.
I will definitely keep you all updated!
Can you tell me what Sonlight has for Composition recommendations?
The Sonlight Language arts program has a full composition section called "creative expression" :)
If you did A before K, you could do K and D at the same time, right? Maybe two American histories would be easier?
Yes, I hadn't really thought of that but it will be wonderful to have both sets of kids doing American history at the same time :)
Did you say you are using Leading Little Ones to God? Is this still going well?
Honestly, I really love it - it was definitely a surprise that I like so much :)
Did you look at Building Foundations of Scientific Understanding? If you did, what did you think of it?
I looked at it and I loved the idea of it and the rigor of it ... but I just couldn't do it with young kids! I feel like I could potentially look at it again in a few years!
