Basically, Ren bought and modified a beat from KujoBeatz with an unlimited license. Kujo didn't get properly registered with the royalty payments so wasn't getting his money. Ren's team had provided the info, so it was on the clearinghouse. Ren did not owe any money. Meanwhile, Kujo had stolen that choir track and not informed Ren. The rights holder to that was coming after Kujo, so he looked for anything he could trip Ren up on to force a renegotiation so he could get more money off Sick Boi. Ren did not want to renegotiate, but he went to bat with the clearinghouse to get Kujo paid, he offered to team up with Kujo on a different track and go 50/50 on it. Kujo refused and filed an illegal copyright strike against the video on UA-cam and was using it as leverage. Ren said screw it, and removed the track himself to put an end to what Kujo was trying to do. He is going to rerelease the track with a beat that is 100% is own. A short while ago, higher ups at UA-cam met with Ren and removed the copyright strike once they understood that Kujo had no standing to file it. That's why you can watch it again.
Best rundown I've seen... most people miss a couple of the important details. The song is still off all streaming platforms - so no money is being made off it by anyone - and will remain so unless they can reach a legal agreement. Ren said if they don't reach an agreement, the video will also eventually come down and will he re-upload with a new track, 100% produced by Ren (which he'll be releasing, in any case).

It's way too complicated for me to unload in a comments section (and quite honestly I still don't understand some of the technicalities about the situation, OR why Kujo Beats, the producer, is legally able to do what he's doing - far better for you & anyone else who's curious, to watch Ren's video). But it's good you checked Sick Boi out NOW because despite UA-cam removing the copyright strike from Ren's channel that Kujo initiated, it sounds like Ren's planning to remove it for good once the legal stuff's all settled? idk, I could be wrong on that but that's how I understood it. He's doing a remake of the track, to be released on the anniversary of the album's release - Oct 13. I hear people say they don't really care for the beat on this one but it's always been an essential component of what riveted me. I adore it (though I have full confidence in Ren's ability to re-make it... you'll see, if you keep watching Ren's stuff, how he often re-imagines his own work, and he's a genius at it). I can never decide once and for all which song of his is my favourite, but it's a toss-up between Sick Boi and the live version of Chalk Outlines. But Ren does a TON of fun stuff too - you probably need a break from the heavy stuff (I gravitate towards heavy stuff so I'm full of heavy recommendations)... fun stuff includes: Losing It - Ren's rap over top of a Fisher EDM beat Murderer - an original with a title that might make you wary about "needing to be prepared" but it's actually a fun track with an insanely catchy earworm of a hook. What You Want - an original, a tribute to the Beastie Boys No Diggity/Walking on the Moon - Ren and an *insanely* talented friend, Sam Tompkins, who you HAVE to hear at some point in your Ren journey, busking on the streets of Brighton England (covers, obviously, but their musical genius is undeniable). Red Suspenders version of I Shot the Sheriff/Road to Zion/Hip Hop - the busking band Ren was in (it's not "Ren's band "- they're all equals in the band), The Big Push. Don't ever be hesitant to react to a busking video from Ren's channel or from his band, The Big Push's channel... Ren meticulously cleans up the audio for the busking videos he puts up and they're really, really good. Passers-by videos on random channels exist that have crappy audio of course, but if it's on a channel Ren's actually involved in, he doesn't upload crap.

Ren contracted Lyme's Disease which was misdiagnosed for close to 20 years. It has left him with multiple side effects, one of which is an autoimmune condition. He finally received beneficial treatment in Canada, leading to some relief, but no cure. He is in constant terrible pain. He has suffered a relapse within the past week or so during a recording session and has been told to rest. What I've heard is that he is not in good shape, and is (?) hoping to recover enough to get back to Canada for treatment.

Losing It is an old EDM beat by Fisher...Fischer ...(spelling sorry not sure which is the correct spelling)... The only words in the old beat were "I'm losing it"... I think the pig signifies the greed and incompetence of the medical industry. That said, with his relapse and current issues, I imagine that's subject to change. Everyone's addressed the beat, but I'd like to put emphasis on the fact that Ren heavily modified the original he bought. I've heard Sick Boi is one of four or so on the album that aren't 100% Ren's production. He does do most of them himself and modifies anything he buys...
