Ren’s earliest recordings on UA-cam are from his time in a band called “Trick The Fox,” consisting of Ren and his buddies Charlie and Tommy. Unfortunately, the band performed only briefly due to Ren’s onset of health issues. They are very talented. A fun clip to watch is “The Mash Up.” Ren’s collaborations with Chinchilla (“Chalk Outlines,” “How to Be Me,” “Sexual Healing,” “One Dance/Drunk in Love”) are beautiful and showcase his singing voice. His live music videos are especially impressive. Ren's personal reflections are threaded through many of his songs; "Insomnia," "Depression," “Diazepam," “Penitence,” “Dear God,” “Heretic,” “Dominos,” his "Freckled Angels" album, in particular his song “Fire,” just to name a few, all deserve a listen. His song "Money Game" (Part I & II) is another recommendation, although it is less of a personal song than it is an indictment of greed and the resulting injustices in this world. Ren’s Hip Hop/Rap style songs are all worth checking out if you enjoy this genre; they are pretty amazing. Check out “The Hunger,” “Genesis,” “What You Want,” “Losing it (FISHER rap retake),” “Right Here, Right Now (Fatboy Slim one shot retake),” "Life is Funny," “Love Music (Parts 1, 2, and 3),” “Crucify Your Culture,” “Power,” "Hold On," “Bittersweet symphony (The Verve retake),” his recent release "The Illest Of Our Time," and his latest song “Animal Flow,” both the full production and the live acoustic version. Ren's performances with Sam Tompkins (“Blind Eyed,” “Earned It /Mans World / Falling,” “Walking on the Moon/No Diggity,” “Feeling Good/Trouble So High/Masterblaster (Jammin'),” “Latch,” “Wild Thoughts/Crazy in love (Live Session),” “Same Old Situation (Live, feat. Ren),” “Improvising Around Stevie Wonder,” “What Went Wrong” Part I&II) are definitely a must. Also, his collaborations with Eden Nash (“Humble,” “Ocean”), Bibi (“Crutch,” “Ahiahiaoha”), Molly McKinna (“Penitence”), Orlean ("Jessica"), his former bandmate Romain Axisa (“French Song”), are all great. Last but not least, Ren’s busking sessions with Liv Sangster are awesome. I recently discovered that Ren also recorded a cover of “Can't Help Falling In Love (Elvis Cover),” that is simply beautiful. "The Big Push" (Ren Gill, Gorran Kendall, Romain Axisa, and Glen Chambers) busking sessions, concerts, and live recordings all are amazing and well worth checking out. All but the drummer sing lead vocals at times. Ren, Gorran, and Romain all play multiple instruments. Ren plays acoustic, electric, and bass guitar, piano, and drums. Gorran plays acoustic, electric, bass guitar, and harmonica. Romain plays acoustic, electric, bass guitar, ukulele, and piano. They are each incredibly gifted artists, and their solo work is completely different from each other. Well worth checking out. Their covers of "I Shot the Sheriff/Road to Zion/Hip Hop," "Wade in the Water/Nina Simone/Trouble so Hard," "Watch Out," “War Pigs,” “Roadhouse Blues,” "My Generation," “Paint It Black,” "An Englishman in New York," “Bongo Bong” are awesome. On “These boots are made for walking’/Satisfaction/Everybody,” “Praise You” (Fatboy Slim Cover), “What Kind Of Woman Is This,” all three take a turn singing. The songs "Oh My Woman," “Swan Song,” “Sweet Little Lady," "It's Alright," “Dignity,” and so many others are equally impressive.
Ren was misdiagnosed a decade ago by doctors. He actually had Lime Disease but they thought his mind was playing tricks and gave him strong drugs psychotropics and told him he was crazy. The Lyme disease ran amuck for 7-8 years. He is currently in Canada receiving treatment to undo all the damage done. his life was dramatically shortened by the misdiagnosis but he is doing his best to stay in shape and recover all the stolen years past & future. Basically it's like having a broken leg and the Dr telling you it's all in your head and prescribing a bunch of super strong psychotropics for 7-8 years. I saw an interview the NHS would make fun of him for asking for more tests on his blood. They are the pig in his videos.
@@JonNo86 he said what the NHS did to him on the Justin Hawkins interview he rightfully call them pigs because the defenders of the system and the NHS are a pack of insane hyenas.
@@JonNo86 Yes but that is a highly legitimate theory, I think maybe they represent different "things" in each video, the way she actually shifts into the pig in this video could mean that for this video at least the pig is a medical "professional" 🤔 who knows for sure 🤷♂️ there's my 2 cents 😜
Great review!......very perceptive. To answer your question "What's Your Favorite Ren video", the answer is "His next one."......every new video I see seems to top the prior one.
For REN, this was truly his reality. Misdiagnosed with Lyme disease for 7 years by conventional doctors who deemed him mentally ill, but when patients are experiencing neurological symptoms, they very often become misdiagnosed. Lyme disease can present itself as many neurological conditions including Acute Transverse Myelitis[3], Ptosis[4], Seizures, and Chronic Fatigue[1] and these symptoms can be often misdiagnosed or deemed psychosomatic. Second is dealing with the symptoms of Lyme neuroborreliosis, these neurological symptoms often leave patients feeling drained and debilitated as they begin losing their quality of life. Over time, patients find themselves unable to do the things they love as they struggle to get ahead of their progressing symptoms.
Lilly, you have to check out Ren’s duets with Chinchilla(Chalk Outlines & How To Be Me) and his other raps: Genesis, Power, & Bittersweet Symphony retake.
Another enjoyable reaction. Ren's release, "Sick Boi," is almost another chapter to "Hi Ren." It is also filmed in the same room as “Hi Ren.”Ren is very critical of the medical establishment, and understandably so, given that all his symptoms were initially wrongly chalked up as depression, bipolar disorder, and chronic fatigue syndrome, which led him to experience psychosis and develop PTSD. It would take seven years before a doctor in Belgium finally correctly diagnosed Ren with autoimmunity, Lyme disease, and resulting damage to the brain, organs, joints, and PTSD. Ren's personal reflections are threaded through many of his songs; “Crutch,” "Insomnia," "Depression," “Diazepam," “Penitence,” “Dear God,” “Heretic,” “Dominos,” his "Freckled Angels" album, just to name a few, all deserve a listen. Many of his songs resonate with people because he addresses struggles that many others face every day. “Pale Hawaiian” (@palehawaiian4649) pointed out that the chorus in the background is “Bre Petrunko” performed by the Koutev Bulgarian National Ensemble and was kind enough to provide the link to the performance: ua-cam.com/video/ByFLkUQZaNc/v-deo.html

#FreeSickBoi For everyone who's wondering, the video got a copyright strike and now his whole album is in danger. Ren and his team are fighting hard to get it back! Here is Rens community post about it: The sickboi video isn't actually just a behind the scenes issue. This is getting out of hand I'm really sorry for everyone who wants to watch the video. This situation is so fucked and runs deeper than I'm even going to say yet. I was sold a beat with a stolen sample which was a fuck up on the producers part but I gave him the benefit of the doubt, producers sample things all the time, so I wasn't massively pressed about it. Partly because of this and partly because of a fuck up on either the publisher or publisher collection society's behalf kujo hasn't received his publishing which I was trying to resolve, even working with kujo on after he and his team removed the song from UA-cam as leverage. Now no one ever told me this situation was even happening or that kujo was unhappy which is a fuck up on both kujo and my lawyers behalf (but giving my lawyer the benefit of the doubt i was in brain damage treatment so he probably figured I didn't need the stress) . I was trying to work really fairly with kujo and even willing to take a financial hit myself on something I shouldn't have because of a stolen sample, but the situation has now gotten ridiculously greedy using legal leverage and unfair loopholes. Honor the original contract. I have receipts of our entire conversation in case any of you guys are in any doubt as to what is happening here. I've given the person and company responsible a warning that I'm making this totally public unless they resolve it asap. This could affect the entire sickboi album because of greed. They can do what's right or you guys will loose a big part of something I worked so hard on while going through one of the toughest periods of my life. Even now I want to resolve this amacably but when they're asking for way more than what was originally agreed upon because of legal loopholes it becomes very difficult to keep giving the benefit of the doubt. I really believe in principle and kujo being paid fairley for making the beat which i am chasing (even though its not my department its the publisbers so im going above and beyond here) but honor the original agreement don't start chasing more because the song is sucessful off the back of my own hard work Acrually fuck it, lets make it public, they also pointed out they could legally claim 100% of all royalities on this song over a youtube content ID technicality and loophole in the contract. Sadly the way the legal system is weighted against small artists there may be weight behind this, so not only are they asking for more theyre threateneing (or as kujo says 'pointing out') that they could claim the whole thing if i dont agree to the terms. Can anyone here tell me if they think its fair they claim 100% when they sold a song with a sample wrongly taken from somehwere else? Welcome to the music business everybody This whole thing started because the publishers fucked up and didn't pay kujo properly. Honestly fuck this industry man Parasites everywhere
While I hate pharmaceutical companies, the list of side effects aren’t guaranteed. By law they have to state any side effect experienced in trials. Even if one person out of thousands experienced one minute effect, it has to be listed.
I have watched a lot of these reactions lately, just wanted to give some practical advice, try to marry the audio volumes better between the video and your own audio. Your audio vocals and visuals are also slightly out of sinc here, the audio is also quite hollow like a bit on an echo, maybe get a better mic. Love the reaction though 😄

I really believe in principle and kujo being paid fairley for making the beat which i am chasing (even though its not my department its the publisbers so im going above and beyond here) but honor the original agreement don't start chasing more because the song is sucessful off the back of my own hard work
Acrually fuck it, lets make it public, they also pointed out they could legally claim 100% of all royalities on this song over a youtube content ID technicality and loophole in the contract.
Welcome to the music business everybody
This whole thing started because the publishers fucked up and didn't pay kujo properly.
Honestly fuck this industry man

While I hate pharmaceutical companies, the list of side effects aren’t guaranteed. By law they have to state any side effect experienced in trials. Even if one person out of thousands experienced one minute effect, it has to be listed.

I have watched a lot of these reactions lately, just wanted to give some practical advice, try to marry the audio volumes better between the video and your own audio. Your audio vocals and visuals are also slightly out of sinc here, the audio is also quite hollow like a bit on an echo, maybe get a better mic. Love the reaction though 😄
I know I keep tinkering with the audio. I will get it perfect eventually. I appreciate the constructive feedback (:
Love that your going down the REN rabbit hole! Check out "FIRE" ❤️🔥
