I was extremely lucky enough to have stood next to one of the originals when I was taken to Fanderson 84 (I was fourteen 1984), my brother 10 years senior indoctrinated me into the worlds of Anderson - I can say you've done a wonderful job on this model, a fine tribute to Mike Trim and Derek Meddings... Excellent job 👏 👍 👌
UFO was my favorite show as a youngster -- even over Trek -- and the Interceptor my favorite bird from the show. This is a beautiful job, might just bring Straker to tears.
Hi SpruVers .... absolutely FAB model !! .... and you are correct to use Dark Green on the gun panel , because seeing pictures of the Original filming models , it is a dark green colour and not black... spot on ... Keep up the great work ... would never of known this kit existed without your great Video ... I will probably purchase this myself , as I have been looking for a larg model of the UFO interceptor for some time ....
Hi Phil. Love the Moonbase Interceptor...looks great. Another awesome job. Doesn't look like it will take up too much real estate. Looking forward to your next build, and as always Be Safe, Be Well, and Build Something😊
Absolutely beautiful model at a really great size, as a kid I hated that Dinky painted it the wrong colour, they also painted Thunderbird 2 in blue, luckily I had the J Rosenthal Thunderbirds 2, 3 and 5, 4 was a push fit plastic kit, and FAB 1 was a kit, I won in a competition in the TV21 comic, good grief I'm old!
Don't worry for you have got the panel correct for Sixteen 12 who make diecast models did a diecast of the UFO Interceptor and they had access to the archives regarding the UFO Interceptor and found it was actually a green panel and I happen to own one of the diecast models myself but you did do the colour of the panel correct and I must say you have done a fantastic job at building and painting this model UFO Interceptor for it lookes amazing.
just a little addition for anyone, who like me are going to print and build this kit,I printed the cockpit and pilot and found that you only have to sand away half of the feet and he will sit nicely in the chair.
Yeah ... I wondered if any one else noticed that ... if you look at the studio model pics the horizontal line comes below the bottom edge of the cockpit window , not above ...
Phil, I may have misunderstood what you said regarding Alclad and Iwata airbrushes, but Iwata airbrushes are triple nickel plated with solvent-proof O-rings designed to shoot acrylics, enamels and laquer paints. Thanks for the TAG Team Hobbies shoutout!
Phil nice job this is one of my all time favorites since I was a kid. I've been looking for a kit of this for my collection. I'll be getting this one Thanks for building this one it looks great 🎉
I have a couple of the 70's dinky die cast interceptors, one I've kept in the original dinky green, the other I re sprayed white, to look more like the ones in the show.
If I ever finish it (75% done) fancy having a go at a MK3 Interceptor. I re-envisioned the Interceptor based on tech we have today and Space 1999, that was originally UFO#2. A little more detailed than the one you have it has some interesting features such as a Queller Drive (Voyagers Return Space1999), twin CTA 40 Cannons and the missile changed to the original "space depth charge" that splits into 4 sub munitions to seed the path in-front of a UFO.
Very cool, Phil. The large scale 3D printing is developing into a viable industry that we were hoping for with scale model kits. 'Staples and Vine', have a Boba Fett spaceship that you may find interesting.
great job Phil I have just received the files from Alain today, i would be interested to see your vac forming machine and how it works in your upcoming videos.
I bought the files from Alain and edited the STL files to remove the panel lines (the original has pencil lines) I've slightly altered some of the other parts for accuracy - most of it is actually very, very good. The pilot is undersized by quite a bit which is an easy fix and the tail fin is way too thick.
Quick tip, when you mask.to.paint the red stripes, mask it, paint it using the body colour, let it dry, then paint the stripe red and once that is dry, remove the tape.
Hi Phil, Didn't I see on yours or Lou's Wonderfest video from last year, that Round2 had acquired rights for UFO and were planning to bring out a range of kits from the series? I hope so because this was one of my favourite shows, back in the day.
"Always more room on the Z axis!" That should be on one of those black framed inspirational workplace posters! In other news: What about a flat pack Lith-ion with a charger jack cleverly integrated into the engine nozzle? Hide a switch in some convenient belly grieeblie. And, 12 YO Tim is currently grabbing Mom, dragging her to the screen and demanding she purchase one of those Guy-freaking-Normous Interceptor kits right this minute. (He simultaneously promises NOT to launch the missile down his own throat.)
Another great build Phil. I had to laugh at time 6:43 when you did the close up of the engine details, the "Porche" valve covers. 🤣 As to the actual UFO, Boyd at TrekWorks built one 6 years ago, but the company is no longer in business. Boyd's videos ua-cam.com/video/HlWof-SfAaA/v-deo.html and ua-cam.com/video/rzls1ikcufA/v-deo.html
I think you've gotten plenty of Zing factor in all of this build. Awfully nice. My only wish is to see the "bible" of the series. Where in it would it say the Moon Base must be staffed (can't say 'manned') by sizzling hot former models? Or, how would it say that? Don't get me wrong-- I love those former models and their crazy hair. And I suppose nowadays it suggests great diversity in space engineers and administrators, waaaaay before their time... Or just a bunch of interested fellows wanting dames around. I also remember an interview with Ed Bishop where he defended UFO vs. Star Trek as, his show being more science based... Bless that guy, whattanut! The model is terrific, good call not to light-- asking for trouble. I would also have put something on the deck of the cockpit to match the walls. A great call back to a simpler time. Anderson still delivers.
I have a shadomobile and most of the parts including the unobtanium tamiya wheel. It was good enough to fool Martin Bower. I have a lot but not all of the rare model kit parts, and the tiger joe stuff as well. I would be willing to share if someone wants to scan it and make it available. Its really big and while not complete the best one I have seen and it fooled martin bower for a minute. All I would ask is a kit in return.

Excellent job 👏 👍 👌
What a beautiful ship. Well done, well done
Lou make this ship too!!! : )
@@nelsonc6173 I would love to.
Always love that Alain has made it a habit to leave interior spaces so people can easily add electronics to their build.
I enjoy that you can laugh at yourself
UFO was my favorite show as a youngster -- even over Trek -- and the Interceptor my favorite bird from the show. This is a beautiful job, might just bring Straker to tears.
Mine too. I loved the actual UFO's and the noise they made.

Great job. I didn't realise how big the model actually is.

Great job on this build, Phil! I bought Alain’s files when they first came out but haven’t printed it yet. He is an amazing designer!
It’s a very nice representation. Thanks Ken! Look forward to seeing you at Wonderfest!
I was excited to see this in my feed after seeing your posts on Instagram. Great work, as always.
just a little addition for anyone, who like me are going to print and build this kit,I printed the cockpit and pilot and found that you only have to sand away half of the feet and he will sit nicely in the chair.
Excellent point! Thank you!
Great job - very nice video!! FYI the large red stripes on either side need to be rotated 180 degrees.
Yeah ... I wondered if any one else noticed that ... if you look at the studio model pics the horizontal line comes below the bottom edge of the cockpit window , not above ...
I wondered about that! Whoops!
Hi there. I did the same kit end of last year. I know you will do a great job on it. You’ve got to love the late ‘60’s design groove.
Good to know!! Cheers!
I've accurised the colour of a Dinky Interceptor but this is phenomenal! 1/24th! Great paint job too!
I am looking forward to the (eventual) release of the new MPC "UFO" kits - Moonbase Interceptor and Shado Mobile....
One of my favourite ships, so unique.
Beautifully done, thank you.
Wonderful build! :)
Wow Looks awesome. great job!!
Great build.
Phil nice job this is one of my all time favorites since I was a kid. I've been looking for a kit of this for my collection. I'll be getting this one Thanks for building this one it looks great 🎉

You sir are a scholar and a gentlemen for this 👏👏👏 awesome model and a fantastic channel every kit you just cone up with 10/10 👍
I have a couple of the 70's dinky die cast interceptors, one I've kept in the original dinky green, the other I re sprayed white, to look more like the ones in the show.
Fantastic kit and fantastic job on your build.👍
Solid content, earned my sub! Thanks for sharing! Cheers 🍻
That is just cool! I love it. Well done.
Nice Phil I love it and I love Lou's masking kits too

Interesting!
Really nice build Phil, you going to bring it to Wonderfest? she's a looker!
I am trying to bring a couple of things.
Very cool, Phil. The large scale 3D printing is developing into a viable industry that we were hoping for with scale model kits. 'Staples and Vine', have a Boba Fett spaceship that you may find interesting.

It’s a great bit of kit! Check out this video! ua-cam.com/video/8LzsP2GN_rk/v-deo.htmlsi=e5gY57OXMm0NI19j

Definitely some good points! Thought about a metal fantail - that would really make this pop!
It's really cool.
Awesome!
Nicely done will you be doing the Sky One next?
I’ve been looking for the alien flying saucer - haven’t found a good one yet.
You could turn the torpedo into the battery compartment and the attachment point into the power connection point and locking point with magnets ?
Quick tip, when you mask.to.paint the red stripes, mask it, paint it using the body colour, let it dry, then paint the stripe red and once that is dry, remove the tape.
Is that an Outpost 31 shirt you were wearing? Noice.

MPC do have the rights!
👍👌

Reach out to Ricardo at 3dfiglab@gmail.com - tell him Phil from sprueVerse sent you. They can scan.
It's your model paint it the way you want it make it yours that's all I've got to say
We prefer to call them Freedom Units here in the good old USA. :)
knock off Porsche powered who knew
I noticed the smoothed the light curing putty into the join with your finger - please don't, it's just as nasty as resin.
What size of the U F O Interceptor corresponds to each scale.Which scale is yours.
