Thank you for discussing this and for acknowledging how disgusting Neil's actions are. It is important for people to hear that from as many people as possible. As a SA survivor, I want to say that the people that came forward are so incredibly brave! This is a great example of how one person coming forward gave so many others the courage to do so themselves. This saved so many other people from becoming his prey as well. I know that it means the world to the survivors (of his abuse) that society is standing up and refusing to support him. Seeing him lose his credibility and becoming a pariah overnight helps other survivors process their trauma as well. The world is putting a stop to turning a blind eye, and blaming the survivors. For everyone who has been deeply affected by this, process in your way and at your speed. Your feelings are valid. Authors give us worlds to escape to, characters to relate to and bond with. They evoke real emotions and provoke deep thoughts. Books are often our safe place, the only place we see people like us. They can quite literally save lives. Finding out that something so deeply treasured was created by a real life monster is going to have a deep impact on a lot of people. That is okay. Don't let anyone tell you otherwise. On the flip side, if you don't have a strong reaction or aren't deeply affected, that is okay too. Just know that your feelings are okay. There is nothing wrong with how you are feeling. There is no right or wrong way to deal with your emotions. If you are comfortable song so, lean on one another. Talking about how you feel with others who understand can be extremely cathartic and quite beneficial. There are nearly countless other incredible authors out there. Perhaps finding another world to get immersed in will help too. 💚
it's such a strange feeling to think that a work of art that you used hold so dear was made by someone whose actions you despise so much. it's also a shame that I've found your channel throught this sadning news, but your content seems interesting, so I've subscribed
I think it's an easy question if you should separate art from the artist, most definitely yes. Supporting the artist financially when you don't support their possibly monstrous behavior is a different issue.
That is a lot of Neil Gaiman books there! I think the only Neil Gaiman I've read was Neverwhere and I started American Gods. I couldn't finished Gods. It wasn't for me. I did enjoy Neverwhere though. About the allegations. There's a lot of smoke there.....that's all I'm saying.

Welcome and thank you. It’s all very sobering.
Such many cases, see Stephen King, George Martin, Andrzej Sapkowski and Haruki Murakami.
The world is a scary place.

He's certainly not for everyone. I lean heavily toward the magical, the mythical. He scratched that itch for me. And yes, lots and lots of smoke.
😢
Sad indeed.
Getting rid of my books from him pronto hon.
