Please read... **** I made a mistake in this video, Percheron horse is not a UK breed, the Percheron was developed in the Perche province of France's Normandy region*****. I apologize for the mistake.
What a lovely video on The Suffolk Punch , I live in Norfolk which is the county adjacent to Suffolk and these horses are still on the endangered list so it was a lovely surprise too see your efforts to breed these I can’t tell how pleased I am , these horses were at one time used to help young affenders rehabilitate themselves at Hollesley Bay though I believe this has now stopped but Hollesley Bay Suffolk Punch Trust is still one of the main breeding farms for these beautiful horses .
Thank you for your comment! This video is my way of spreading awareness for this magnificent breed of endangered horse❤️Your kindness made my day. Hopefully this video will continue to promote the breed.
For a few years I lived in Suffolk. A few miles away is the Hollesley Prison. At that time the prison had a farm on which the inmates worked. Famous were the Suffolk Punches which worked the land. Unfortunately the farm was sold depriving the inmates the opportunity of working with these wonderful animals. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/HM_Prison_Hollesley_Bay
So interesting to know of the sex-sorted sperm program to ensure filly foals for reproduction, thus saving this beautiful horse from extinction. I would guess that is also used in The Netherlands to maintain their previously endangered Friesian horses, which explains why 9 out of 10 babies are female! And the small, sturdy Icelandic Horses are kept a purely healthy breed by forbidding any horse to return, after once leaving the country.
It really is fascinating. I am so happy that these horses are making a comeback. They are amazing animals. I bet you are correct about the Friesians as well. I will be doing a Friesian video & Icelandic in the near future. Thank you very much for watching my video on these Suffolk Punch horses❤️
