- I wanted to share with you my low cost ($60), high quality, VERY stable shooting table. I provide details of measurements and supplies.
UPDATE 6/28/2017: Amazon has the legs for $39 at 34in high ... www.amazon.com...
Great table! I have built a couple of these for gifts! Of course now that I want do one for myself… the legs are no where to be found!
Thanks for the excellent designed folding table with measurements
Uh ooh, I waited too long. The Rugged Buddy sawhorse legs are no longer available. Gotta find an alternative that is as sturdy. Thx for the great video.
Thanks for the video and template. You can't find these legs anywhere anymore and it appears nobody else sells just the legs. First they went up to $100 on Amazon then they disappeared because they can't sell sawhorse legs for $100 that were $40 a year ago. Most of the other sawhorses you can't bolt through the entire sawhorse because of design. The ones you can are usually too long and they are upwards of 20lb to 25lbs. There are the folding/locking brackets where you use your own wooden legs but not very heavy duty.
Wow stumbled on a pair of those legs, made for an awesome table thanks
Thank you for sharing this. I made one today with the same measurements as your template and it came out great. I did not use the same legs. I found a folding retractable leg sawhorse from Harbor freight for $25 that works great because the legs are height adjustable and the sawhorse just bolted to the bottom of the table.
Terry White Awesome! Yep Harbor Freight is a great option! Let me know how shooting on it goes!
So the legs at harbor freight, they have a few you bolted the horse in middle of top?
@@rudychavira5558 I looked and Harbor ft may not have the same sawhorse any more. It is yellow and has a 4" top that the legs retract and fold into. All I had to do was screw the sawhorse to the middle of the underside of the wood top.
I made a table like this several years ago and I'm very happy I did. I made my top out of 3/4 inch plywood because it was what I had on hand .
I cut a U shaped notch on the side I shoot on so I can rest the rifle barrel in it when I checking targets and It won't fall over. The legs are worth the money and it folds up nicely and rides in the back of my pickup. I did found the legs of the table to tall for me so I took my saws all out to where I shoot and chopped off a little at a time till I got it where I wanted it and reinstalled the rubber feet. Great video and easy to follow diagram . You will like this bench.
Love this idea.
I will mix your idea of the Blue Print and the other idea from the comments about the saw horse from HB.
My 5 year old loves shooting his S&W M&P 15-22 and bolt action (plus other guns in the future) so the adjustable legs of the saw horse will make it a lot more fun for him.
I will probably add a 1x1 in the front top of the table so we can butt up the bipods against it.
Your "blue" print template gave me a starting point to build one today. I used a folding and height adjustable saw horse from Harbor Freight. Cut the wood to size and bolded down to saw horse. Is very sturdy at lower heights, gets a little shake as height increases.
Saw horse $24.99
Plywood 3/4" $27.99
Hardware $4.99
Thanks for planting a great idea. Can't wait to try it my 56 yo old back just doesn't like the prone position anymore.
Well done! Great idea and $$ saver...love HF products...send pics!
What is the height of the table with the adjustable horse from HF?
I have been planning to do this Bench since you posted the vid. Finally did it today. I think mine was slightly longer than the 40 inch overall you quote here. I was confused by the 16", 19", and 7" measurements. So I left it at 42" overall length and assembled it. I will make adjustments after I do the finishing work to clean the edges up. The legs definitely need to be cut down for my needs. Thank you so much for the idea and the information. Something I have needed for quite a while.
SHWELL11 Glad it worked out for you...measurements are just a guide...make it fit to you...post some pics here!
Looks pretty sturdy and lightweight, very nice
Thanks for making this. I just followed your template. The only thing is the legs were no longer available. I got a Bauer metal saw horse from Harbor Freight and bolted it to the table. Super stable. Had a $30 lowes gift card so total it cost me about $35 in materials.
How is the saw horse doing?
@@triph4 it is doing great no issues with it. I used it to sight in my shotgun for turkey season about 3 months ago.
Great idea. This is just what I was looking for, but unfortunately the legs have gotten a little too pricey ($80). I'm going to use some different legs that I think should work just as well.
Thanks John! Yea, lots of comments on this thread about the leg prices...unfair.
Man, how awesome would adjustable legs be on that? Those Rugged Buddy legs are now $90.00 including Shipping. Somebody got greedy and is price gouging probably because of the publicity your video provided.
Your bench is 24-inches wide and is for both right and left hand shooters. I made mine only 20-inches wide with only a cut-out for a right-hand shooter. Also, as others have mentioned, I used the Harbor Freight folding saw horse with adjustable legs.
Nice! Can you share a pic of it? Yes I have both left and right handed shooters in my house. Good observation.
Thanks for the video. I just completed my table with the help of your video and it was great to reference back to. Great tutorial! I ended up cutting 3" off the legs though, since I use cheap folding chairs when I go shooting out in the dessert, the stock height was too high. With 3" cut off, it is almost perfect height for a folding camping chair. With that being said, I may cut another 1" or so off, but I want to test it out first to see if I like the height.
Chris Johnson Awesome Chris! Yea, sizing the table to your height is key...I shoot off of bar stools so mine was higher...
Nice table, very well thought out.
Awesome project I will definitely look into building this table
Thanks a million for the plans. I 'll let you know how my bench turns out
You must have helped them some advertisement! They've went up 20 bucks on the legs since your video! Supply and demand buddy, S&D. Your Bench looks great and it looks solid as anyone can hope for! Nicely done!
Dan Adams $47 on ebay.
they are even selling their own table for $155. SMH, I hope they cut this guy a nice check
@@akbuilder7626 not anymore
Good work! Thanks for sharing!
Great idea and plans/template.
Thanks very much.
Where did you get the folding legs. They look sturdy. Thanks.
Just what I was looking for, top job, Thanks!
Thank you very much for the effort to put together this helpful video.
rustynails113 Thanks for watching!
Greetings from the UK. Nice table & will certainly be making my own based on your measurements apart from the legs, I'll be using three sturdy spring loaded brackets to fold out solid wood legs, (nearest thing to your legs is an ironing board! over here!) which is still cheap to make compared to buying one. ATB (All The Best) :)
Nice idea on the spring loaded legs...Thanks for watching!
Thanks for the effort with dimensions and shopping list, your a champ :)
223tackdriver You are very welcome!
Great video! I'm going to make one!
I got it, i guess I should have waited till the end. Thanks
Subbed cuz you gave us the measurements.
Great idea and thanks for taking the time to share.
Thanks for watching Ken!
Nice work!
Building one now. Thank you !
Sweeeeet...Very nice, I'll be making this soon! Thanks!
Bennett Cost Thank you!
SoCalHunter I made this recently and I absolutely love it, perfect height, perfect width and very stable. I even use it as a work bench to clean my guns in the house while watching tv, thanks again for this great idea!...
Bennett Cost Awesome! Glad the video helped!
THanks for posting!
Great post , thanks for the Plans & instructions.
Very nice
The legs now cost from rugged buddy $59 plus $20 shipping.
Guy Marchais I heard! Since my video he bumped up his prices as his demand was so great...according to another subscriber!
Built one. Love it.
Thanks for watching!
Bought the Adjustable saw horse from Harbor Freight today ($24.99)
Went to Home Depot and got a 4ft x 2ft x 1/2 inch ($14.99)
Got lacquer, brush, etc
Will work on this tonight 🙂
Btw, the legs in the video are now shy of $90
Well done! Can’t believe $90!!!
Thanks for the Template, great job.
You’re welcome! Hope it works out for you!
5 STAR PROYECT !!!!
I have got to know where you got the name " Two Dogs "
SWEET! Thank you.
Those folding legs are no longer available no longer available at Amazon
Damn…this saddens me.
Harbor freight?
What height are the legs
nice video and table
jims funbirdhunting Thank you!
Hey Huntsvillehunter,
Wondering if you can do me a solid? Can you do a quick template dimensions for just a right handed shot? I’m thinking you wouldn’t have to go the full 24” I’m width? Thanks a million!
Yep, you can cut/buy a pice that is 19in instead of 24, as you don’t need the indentation on the left side....only cut the board (indent) for the right handed shooter with the other side just being straight...out the handle home on the opposite side of this video as well...
Can you recommend an inexpensive yet sturdy chair or stool to use with this table?
Eldar424 So that is the best question of all...I have gone round and round with chairs and stools...I have cut legs down, made chairs longer, ugh. I have settled on a bar stool but it’s not ideal...sorry.
nice!
Damn their 79.99 for the legs now I hope you got a kick back for your video on the legs
Wow! That’s a crock....and no, no kickbacks, but I should have asked haha!
Good job! Thanks
Thanks for watching!
What was the thickness of the plywood. I heard 3/4 on the second piece? If so what size screw did you use to screw that piece to the table? Thank you for this video very informative
3/4 in birch plywood and 1 1/4 in recessed screws
Oh and wood glue
@@HuntsvilleHunter Thank you very much!!
That looks like a savage arms rifle , where did you find your bipod at ?
It’s a custom build…tripod was at a gun show
Great little table. You made the table too narrow and placed the legs front and back when they should have been placed at each side and front. The width should be at least what the length is front to back. Legs should come out on each side in the rear where the shooter is seated with another set in the front. Nicely done and thanks for sharing. I hope that helps.
did you make yours he way you stated? did it work good?
The Rugged Buddy's are now $80 damn dollars. They can shove them as far as I'm concerned.
I heard and I’m just sick about it...there are others that are just as good...harbor freight has some.
FYI; the rugged buddy legs alone are $79.95....tried every site I could....EBay is $128.00....WTF.
FYI.. You can get the legs at www.bulbsandfittings.com .
did anybody buy a chair that they would recommend? height, style, make-model, sturdy, easy to carry?
They are now 80 bucks at Amazon.
luvmyctd
Wow. That was an impressive turn of the conversation toward a political ad for Trump and capitalism. You should be on a Republican election committee.
good job
chapmaker46 Thank you
Where did you get the legs?
Now is that $40 for a pair or each leg?
I am sad to say and very aware from the comments below, that they have raised prices significantly from when I posted this video…if there is a better quality leg for less price, please let us all know!
@HuntsvilleHunter well I looked up the company I don't even know if they're still in business? Everywhere I look or even if I type in their name their website doesn't come up.
Nice Weatherby Vanguard series 2...what caliber?
Larry Meservey GREAT rifle and better price...a tad heavy but that reduces the recoil. It’s chambered in .270 so perfect for all types of game.
SoCalHunter I've got the Weatherby Vanguard series 1 in 270...had her out to 548yds on half gallon milk jug 2nd shot so far
Harbor freight has a sawhorse for 25

They currently want $166 for the legs!
That is unbelievable...there are posts below that guys are sharing about alternatives
Hi where can I buy the legs thanks
The website is in the video
What stool do you have?
Walmart
$41.42 on amazon... just ordered
S.P.K SR. Sweet...I prefer to tailor mine to my short fat body...and kinda like building my own stuff...
Did you use the 28" or 34" legs?
Great question...I went with the 34" because I have a stool that fit it better...28" might be better for a normal sitting chair.
How far in did you come to mount the legs? It looks like 3" or so. I have my plywood cut and fixing to mount the legs....:)
Yep, you got it..2" is even ok...but 3 is solid.
Finished it up, went 2 1/2", split the difference. Hope I didn't go to tall with the legs, don't have a chair yet. But I'll make it work. Thanks for the great idea and video.
Let's see some pics! So glad this helped you! You can buy a stool and adjust the height...or a chair...or you can cut the legs down and just pop those rubber footings over the cut...
what length are these legs ? 28in or 34in
There 34" long . If that's to long just cut them off to the length you want and reinstall the rubber feet.
I built this same table, shortly after my post a few years ago, the legs hold up nicely. I Actually built two of these, one for my son and one for me! I love it
These legs are no longer sold. What a shame
It makes me sick…they jacked the price up something terrible then killed them all-together. There is a post in the comments about other legs used that work…scroll down.
Just be honest man. Videos like this are good. Just don't make bullshit reviews videos with your own coupon code for said item.....there's no honesty in that.
Is there any flex or twist in the table when in use? Or is it solid? Great vid by the way. I think mine will be fairly similar to this one.
Very solid with these specific legs...they snap in tight! Thanks for the kind words...you will like the table for sure...
HuntsvilleHunter - Formerly SoCalHunter I’ll start it this week. Thanks again
