Well here’s the thing. George Washington’s dentures weren’t made of just ONE thing. There is a diary entry where George Washington purchased 9 “Negro” teeth. We don’t know where he got them exactly. Whether they were sold to his personal dentist, purchased from his own slaves, purchased from another party. We just don’t know. Now if he did purchase them from his slaves just because he compensated them doesn’t mean they really were able to refuse. Keep that in mind. Washington also kept many of his own teeth that were pulled to be used in dentures. The dentures were also made of cows teeth, horse teeth, ivory (which sadly might have come from elephant tusks), brass/copper alloy, lead-tin alloy or silver alloy. Washington also kept many of his own teeth that were pulled to be used in dentures. The dentures were also made of cows teeth, horse teeth, ivory (which sadly might have come from elephant tusks), brass/copper alloy, lead-tin alloy or silver alloy. His dentures were often very painful. They manipulated his face shape and made eating and speaking rather difficult and painful. He had poor dental health the majority of his life and had nearly every single one of his natural teeth pulled at one point.
