- The NI Traktor Kontrol X1 MK2 is a compact and modular Digital DJ controller that was built specifically for the full Traktor Pro 2 software that allows DJ's to control file navigation, effects, loops, hotcues, Flux Mode, and other playback properties. The Traktor Kontrol X1 MK2 is the second iteration of the original X1 with some minor layout changes and the addition of a touch strip and loop counter readout that allows DJ's to take even more control of their mixing than ever before. You can assign any button to do anything. Assign a button or knob or button combination to manipulate the tempo. There is a "learn" feature in the preferences control panel.

@ flavio :when you have stored a loop in a track with green markers, say a 4 beat loop.
You can set it on active (the active button will light green) without actually engaging in a loop) but when the "needle" hits the loop marker it goes into autoloop and loops the stored loop of your specified lenght.
The old mk1 had a button command to set a loop on active in a track but i cant find it on this one..want to map it myself but not if its already there.

I use this same setup when im at work Z1 mapped to 4 decks
X1 MK2 A-B and Midi to remix C-D. best portable setup IMHO.

Hey Kareem Great Video Very Informative, The Z1 and X1 looks like the ideal setup for a small club/bar with a limited booth or just for compactness in a bigger booth, is it just a simple as plugging them both into your pc/laptop via usb then outsourcing your rcas to sound system then it both works through traktor? I ask this as I would have thought they may conflict? I am very interested in getting both these for a smaller setup so please get back to me asap! Cheers for your time :)
That set up should work. I have my Z1+X1MK2 running through a D-Link 7 port hub. ;)
Hey Kareem, can you slow the tempo with the new touch strips provided on deck B whilst deck A is playing. If it does then that would be cool, I would only need to use the cross fader on the laptop.

Found out that if you Hold the SYNC BUTTON and then turn the ENCODER KNOBS, you'll see the Pitch/Tempo visual faders and BPM's go up or down depending on how you turn it! Hope that helps guys! :) Been using this "light" version at gigs and it's SOLID!!
can i connect Z1 F1 X1 with two Y USB cable to laptop with A6 sound card to a pair of numark portable turntables for Lighter set up????
I saw that the Traktor program screen didnt have an internal mixer...Can Z1 be used as an external mixer?..
So I can u that z1 as a regular mixer just by the x1 and f1?
i wanna ask how do i make my vinyl scratch, i push the vinyl back and forth but it doesnt scratch like i seen on youtube, it doesnt make the squeaky sounds, so do i have to install any type of software to make it scratch ? all i did is connecting the white and red cord from my turntable to my mixer and that it, do i need to connect anything else ?
Hey Kareem, I know this sound crazy with the USBs but if I wanted 4 separate decks would I be able to connect 2 x1 mk2s, 2 z1s, and 1 f1?

how do you change tempos? On the previous x1, you would shift tempo - or +, what about on the new one?

hey man i was just wondering if you are able to beat jump with the x1 mk2? i know traktor has that option when using my pioneer ddj t1 how would i access the beat jump with the traktor x1 m2?

Hi, that stands allow you to join the modules as a unique controller block or they are only aligned one next to other ?
These do not join together, they just line up perfectly to give that illusion...

I have a Pioneer DJM600 mixer and a couple of CDJ400 which i am currently using it with Traktor Pro 2 as both CDJ's work with Traktor Pro...
I liked theX1 mk2 controller as it is quite compact....and for smaller gigs i need not carry the cdj's...
Need your advice... i saw the x1 images....there is a USB connection which will connect the X1 to the laptop....how do i connect the mixer...

You need a Traktor Audio 6 or Audio 10 to do that...
I don't want to connect my cdjs. Just the mixer and x1... d way u showed in ur demo....since i already having a pioneer mixer i dont want to buy a z1... will i be able to connect the x1 to my mixer and play
Sunil Rasquinha Your mixer is not Traktor Scratch Ready like the Z1 is... So in order for your mixer to work with Traktor, you need an Audio 6 or Audio 10 soundcard to connect this to Traktor and your computer.

Can somebody tell me if there is a command to make loops active on this one? By that i mean make a loop active so that when the track hits a stored loop marker it goes into autoloop? The mk1 had this, but i cant find it on this one..so am i missing something or do i need to map it myself? Thanks.
just wondering bro how do you mean when the track needler hits the loop? it have never been done its impossible when you hit the loop your in the loop you mean to set cue point and of course it got to have it men thee more function on new one then old one native instruments would never leave something missing they want make it more easyer to mobile dj to be free from heavy gear :)
I have just bought this item, can I use it on its own or do I need the other one in the video also, as I can't actually perform a mix with just the x1 MK2 can I there is no fader to physically mix the tracks!! Can you let me know as the guy at the shop went very clued up
You need a digital mixer of some type to use this... So a Traktor Z1, Z2, Pioneer DJM-T1, or ANY mixer that has a USB soundcard and MIDI controls...
Yes. Is a mapping that midi assigns it to use as a 2 channel rotary knob mixer. Then the effects knobs become the 3 EQ knobs.

the small circular load buttons on the Z2 are pretty horrible as they're starting to stick / get stuck. Would you say the arrow load buttons on the X1 mk2 are a much better improvement? Appreciate your input!

hmmmm....man sucks to hear that they're probably the same type of button. Love the Z2 but they really need to change those circular buttons to something more robust like the square buttons they have for the hot cues. Thanks for the super-fast response though since I need to figure out how I'm going to re-map those load functions somewhere else. Might have to pull my Denon controller from my Serato setup for Traktor duty now. Thanks again man.
Sir Edgar You can always clean your unit with a lint free cloth, compressed air. If they are sticking that means likely something got into it that should have. Juice, Beer..jizz etc
When I start mine it shows two zeros instead of A and B... Can anyone help me with this???

If I wanted to use the x1 and z1 along side a laptop with traktor pro to do all of my mixing and perform at a party would this setup work for that?
+Matthew Marie Yes, this would work, but you would probably check out something like the Traktor Kontrol S2 which is a small all-in-one unit that can do all these can do together basically.
Legit could not have asked for a better video. After my S2 breaking, and being bulky at that, I bought the z1 and x1 for under 200. It seems to me like they can do the exact same things just with no fader for BPM. Am I crazy for thinking I can do full mixing with this!? Keep up the awesome videos.
You are correct. You can completely DJ with just this setup if you are using sync...

Yes, you can use the strip to nudge tracks that may be slightly off...

Yes, you'll probably need a soundcard too. Not necessarily though. What else are you going to DJ with? How will you hear the sounds?
