The Z1 is definitely a good piece of starter kit, although for a real beginner I'd suggest a small all-in-one controller like the Numark Mixtrack Pro. That would let you learn mixing the 'old fashioned' way, without relying on sync from the beginning. It's worth learning.

Ten years on, do you think that would still work? I have two Pioneer PLX-1000 Pro vinyl turntables and an Allen & Heath Xone 23 mixer that I use in conjunction with my Traktor Audio 6 interface and my iMac. In place of the iMac, I'd love to use an iPad and if the Audio 6 will work with iPad that'd be great news. thanks!
There is no way to nudge each track into phase on the iOS app, either by pitch bending or phase adjustment. You can tweak the beatgrids on the fly, but only to a fixed grid throughout the track; so if the track has a fluctuating tempo, you'll break the sync at some point in the track. Obviously in Traktor Pro you have numerous ways to achieve that. ;)
I'm sure NI will add that in at some point. It makes no sense that they wouldn't. Still, both versions of the iOS app are free this week, so you should definitely pick them up, even if you don't use them right now.

Hi, the Z1 will replace the VCI and the soundcard, but it won't replace the mixer side of it; the controls on there only control Traktor's internal mixer. So this might not be the best solution for you, I'm afraid.

Traktor DJ stopped working via the Z1 on my iPhone 4s ios7, and it's not recommended I upgrade to ios8. I contacted Traktor and they could only recommend upgrading to ios8

Looks like he is running it through a DJM mixer in one of the channels but you can get a RCA to XLR I suppose.. dont know much about the product or if you have a master on this controller tho

Hello I have a curiosity, a year ago I had the z1 controller and I had configured the cue mix to be able to raise and lower the bpm of the songs at the time I wanted, being synchronized in traktor scratch pro 2, two weeks ago I bought the same controller, the z1, but I do not remember the mapping or how to modify the cue mix of my controller to be able to achieve that effect at the time of mixing, I would greatly appreciate the help ...
My setup that im gunna use in clubs may now just consist of an X1 and a Z1 for compactness! Is it as simple as just hooking both x1 and z1 into the usbs and then your rcas out to the sound system and you are good to go?
It could probably be done, but you'd have to get into making an aggregate audio device or something... Not really noob level stuff! I'd suggest you'd be better off buying a cheap pair of active computer speakers and connecting those to the Z1 instead.

I just moved and I see myself greatly limited in space, so unfortunatly, I turned this setup into my media center as well for the time being until my contract in this city is done. Do you know if it would be possible to control the sound (low mid high) coming out of the z1 same way as a standard mixer even when using other media on the laptop ?

Yeah, the iPhone 6 works great with this controller, but if you want to connect it you will have to either buy a connecter or go to the traktor website and buy a lightning cable
The only thing I dislike about Traktor DJ is that no pitch bend is available unless you connect a Kontrol S2/S4. I don't want a computer to do the work for me!
