But but but but but but but it's digital. Thought you were a true tube amp guy LOL. This doesn't replace your amp you still got to power it. And most people will plug it into a tube amp.
Got mine today. It sounds amazing. I turn off cab sims and going into power amps and real cabs. App worked great but I didn’t have to change anything in the app. I just dialed it in like an amp. I like the TS9 boost anyway so kept it default for all channels.
I think 5150 and Recto guys have that in common-there’s no amount of basically the same amp you can ever have that’ll satisfy that hunger. Not a 5150 guy myself, by I respect them. We all come from Soldano blood
I bought a 5150 in 95 and finally sold it off a couple years ago and I feel like basically no one needs amps that big these days. When I see a small band with a stack, they almost always sound bad because the guitars are too loud and drown out the vocals and drums.
@@arthritisankle yeah with a good PA and sound guy they are usually better mixes with the direct to FOH options. I have been to PLENTY of shows though where a half stack sounded better 🤷🏻♂️. When you are at a metal show and the vocals and drums are overpowering the guitars it REALLY fucking sucks the life out of the show haha.
@@arthritisankle Never had that experience. Always think how great they sound. What kind of sound system do the places you go to have? In Massachusetts every club has a decked out PA.
true story…in late 80’s after a Van Halen concert I was standing next to Eddie as he was in a crush of fans behind the stage signing stuff they handed him but he WAS NOT acknowledging them or saying a word. His amps came off the stage behind me and I thought “wow that’s his famous Marshall!” after I looked closely I said out loud to myself “are those PEAVEY?! what the hell?” I turned around and Eddie Van Halen heard me and “yeah dude! go over there and check ‘em out!” it was epic 🫶🏼
I like the tones you pulled out of the pedal and I dig the fact that you were able to do a side by side that sounded almost identical to the actual amp head thank you for this video my good belligerent sir 🫡🫡

@@cameronfarrell9076 it’s more similar to the original 5150 tone. Which evolved into the 5150 iii. So it’s close to the 5150 iii just because of that alone. Great demo like usual! I'm glad you mentioned the 4 cables method as a big selling feature of this pedal because that's the number 1 reason why I want to buy it personally. I mean sound quality comes first evidently, but there are so many other options out there now to get the 5150 tone that this one put it above everything else imho because of that option. If you do another video with it, please try it directly in your 5150 in 4cm so you can go back and forth between the amp and the pedal's lead channels. We'd be able to directly hear how close they are since the pedal would be pushed by the 5150's power amp :)
I've had a FJA modded 6505 that absolutely crushes for over a decade. I get it, getting a good 5150 sound outta a cheap pedal is a great thing. And there's all sorts of digital gear that does the 5150/6505 thing well too. When my boy KB dumps all his amps and buys a mansion with the money and goes with just pedals, I'll definitely take notice.
Back in 1993, I owned a 5150 head. It would be another 8 years before I fell into the Search for Tone. While I already have the Ruby and Lion, the Anti might complete my search for a digital solution for this sound. Great video! I think mine will be delivered today (from Sweetwater...)

I think the quality of all of the UA Amp in Box pedals is undeniable. However, as they are all essentially, VST in a box pedals, the value proposition isn't quite there IMO. I always think in the studio I wouldn't want this because at that point I'm better off using a high quality VST or ToneX / NAM profile. And then live, at this price point or slightly above, there are devices with more functionality with similar quality of modelling. All of the devices in this series sound great, maybe even some of the best modelling available. But as a single amp model I think the price point just falls in an awkward spot.
I mostly agree. I think these pedals fill a niche for people that just want one amp-in-pedal +IR loader to replace their amp. Some people don’t want to hassle with a full multi-fx unit. I think these are nice for a lot of people
