Please feel free to ask any questions related to ski vlog/filming, either of the two cameras or anything along those lines in the comments. I'll be more than happy to answer them.

I've been binging your channel in preparation for this season at Niseko. It's been a while since I've gotten a good long trip out there - this season looks like nasty pow all day every day. Looking forward to upgrading my own filming setup and hopefully meeting you out there on the slopes!
Thanks for these helpful tips. Always had trouble keeping the GoPro on in skiing weather, will see what I can do to mitigate it.

Amazing man, happy I'm helping get you prepped for some pow shredding. It has been a really wild start to the season that's for sure. I've never had so much snow in December before.
I don't know if it's just the new Hero 13 or I'm doing something specific, but I haven't run into any issues with the batteries dying prematurely. The 13 comes with one "Enduro" battery and then I bought two others. From what I read online, they made improvements to the Hero 13 battery to help it in cold weather. It's also not backwards compatible with older models from memory, which is pretty typical of GoPro.
That being said, it hasn't been too cold so far. I'd say coldest maybe -10°C or so up higher on the mountain. I do keep the extra batteries in my chest pocket, so they stay reasonably warm there.
May have battery issues in Jan/Feb once the summit opens and I'm up there a lot with colder temps and more wind exposure. Can only wait and find out though honestly.

@@BlaizeKelly Last time I tried filming was on the Hero 10 with tired original batteries. Couldn't keep the camera on for more than 20seconds no matter what I tried.
Picked up a couple of the "Enduro" batteries that are supposedly much better in the cold, probably will be closer with your experience on the Hero 13, but looking forward to getting on the slopes and testing it out!
I'll admit I've been a little off-piste shy my previous seasons there but with this type of snowfall it's looking like a blast.

@@JupiterPolluX Sounds pretty much like my experience with the Hero 8 or 9 or whatever my old camera was. I used to have to keep it in my chest pocket and only bust it out as I was about to start a run.
Fingers crossed the enduro batteries do the trick for you!

Nice man, I've seen and heard good things about the X4. I may end up getting one down the line. But also waiting to see if GoPro do a Max 2 and how that shapes up against the competition.
